To be absolutely fuming about the digital ID thing?

I work as a nurse in England.

I just feel absolutely fuming about the digital ID proposals and don't know how to channel my anger??

I very strongly object to this. It makes my blood boil when I think about it and I feel anxious knowing that something like this may be imposed on us all.

It is not going to stop illegal immigration. That line is absolute BS. They're doing it for their own selfish reasons.

What do we do? I don't want to not work, but I am going to refuse to have one. So my employer may sack me?!

It's just ridiculous!

Obviously I've signed the petition, emailed my MP, will join any protests etc.

But practically speaking - will my employer actually sack me for not having one?

I live in Australia and we have a thing called “myID”. It’s basically an app on your phone which you use to access government services. You prove your ID once, using things like a passport or drivers licence then get the app. It’s not compulsory as far as I know but I guess it would be difficult to use government services without it. Honestly, it’s no big deal! Don’t understand why people are getting their knickers all bunched up in the uk over it.

This would be OK, if that is as far as it went but the government is not telling us how the proposed ID system would work in the UK. Already it has more scope than "myID" as you won't be able to work without one, or possibly access your bank account. Also they want it rolled out to 13 year olds and above. They need to be more transparent before people can make a decision on them, not that it is looking like we will get much choice either way.
