Neighbour has put up huge Unite the Kingdom flag

UrticaDioca · 05/10/2025 15:05

I am gutted. I haven't seen a single flag in my town, and suddenly this union jack goes up two doors over with the words 'Unite the Kingdom' printed on it in capital letters. The flag is huge and flying from a pole on top of their shed, but it's in their own garden so nothing can be done.

I am the daughter of an immigrant mother and therefore mixed race. Now I have to see this fucking flag waving at me every time I look out of my kitchen or living room windows.

So it’s apparently fine to spread complete lies as long as they fit the “right” narrative? That’s the hypocrisy that’s rotting public debate in this country. People scream about misinformation when it suits them, but when it’s about someone they don’t like, they’ll repeat any rumour as fact.
What was written about Tommy Robinson is false. He’s never been convicted of anything involving children or of any racially motivated attack that killed anyone. Those are serious accusations, and it’s called defamation under British law. His actual convictions are public record and take two minutes to verify, so there’s no excuse for spreading lies!

And before you pipe up again with “you’re defending him,” try reading what’s actually written. Pointing out a lie isn’t defending someone, it’s standing up for the truth. The lack of basic comprehension in these debates is staggering. I don’t care who it’s about (left, right, or anyone in between), you don’t get to rewrite reality because it suits your agenda.

I'm not spreading lies though? I haven't written a single word about any of Tommy Robinson's convictions, false or otherwise! He's just an awful, awful excuse for a human yet you seem to be firmly supporting him and getting very irate if anyone speaks against him 🤷‍♀️👀 I think that says more about you than it does about me. Let me guess - you're not a racist though? 🙄

@EatingsCheatingwe're waiting...

What? There is more to flying flags than not getting a Drs appointment. What an odd remark.

Ok, perhaps I'll take out the bit you didn't understand and see if you can answer the rest: what on earth do you mean by 'likely story'? Just such a weird thing to say, I thought.

Keep up, DangerousAlchemy. My initial post wasn’t even directed at you. It was aimed at the person spreading blatant lies that Tommy Robinson is a convicted paedophile and was involved in a racially motivated attack that killed one man and left another fighting for his life. That claim is an abject lie, plain and simple, and it doesn’t matter who it’s about. You can dislike someone all you like, but inventing crimes crosses a line.

Defamation is illegal for a reason, and the rule of law applies to everyone in the UK, whether you like it or not. Talking rubbish about people isn’t a harmless pastime because it ruins lives and fuels hate. There are plenty of unhinged people out there who don’t need much of an excuse to turn violent, and spreading lies like that just gives them one.

And honestly, there’s no point even arguing with someone like you. You’ve shown no comprehension and no critical thought, yet you’re quick to throw out the same lazy “racist” line without knowing a single thing about me. It’s tedious, predictable and says far more about you than it ever will about me.

I never once said I agree with anything Tommy Robinson stands for, but I have a serious problem with the truth being twisted to fit an agenda. Facts don’t stop mattering just because you dislike the person they involve.

I’m done responding to you. You clearly prefer virtue signalling over truth, and I’m not wasting any more time arguing with someone who mistakes moral posturing for critical thought. Take care, and maybe try reading next time.

No your point isn't relevant at all. Nobody can deny allowing thousands of unvetted men into our country puts people (particularly women and girls) at risk. There have been multiple cases of immigrants following women and girls, sexual assaults, rapes and paedos caught trying to meet underaged girls for sex. So for you to come out with 'Oh well it's more likely to be someone she knows,' it is indeed a moot point.

'your point has to relate to skin colour. Otherwise how does Kirsty know these people in the area are immigrant as far as I know they don’t come with badges.' What is the obsession with making this about race? Honestly. Erm, perhaps Kirsty is looking over her shoulder because she has been told a hotel nearby has been filled with unvetted potentially criminal men and is therefore justly more wary.

'give perfect examples of how this can be done and the huge positive impact of reducing this wealth gap on society.' But what are your ideas or the solutions you agree with? You are the one bringing up wealth disparity after all, whilst ignoring how immigration plays into this and affects the working classes most.

Edited

Because for people like you it is a race issue whether you admit it or not…. We don’t hear the same outcry’s about other immigrants. If that is the case Kirsty is merely a victim of scaremongering as the statistic demonstrates who she should be worried about. Where i live there is a charity which provides a cooked breakfast for anyone who needs it either because of cost or company, been running for years, it is run entirely by volunteers, the vast majority of which are now immigrants wanting to give back. These are not the people she needs to be worried out. Doesn’t make sure a good story for the TR supporters or GB news though does it?

I’m ignoring immigration because it’s not the issue, it’s a distraction being pushed. Smoke and mirrors.

'Because for people like you it is a race issue whether you admit it or not…' Who do you people actually think you are? The arrogance is disgusting. The same arrogance that calls BAME people who support right wing parties condescending names. YOU are the one that is fixated on race, not me.

I'm really not interested in your anecdotal evidence.
'These are not the people she needs to be worried out.' Well I don't suppose immigrants who are volunteering for charities are the people she'd need to worry about. 😂But that isn't what we were talking about. I specifically said unvetted, illegal males are the concern. Including... shock horror white men from the likes of Romania and Albania.

'I’m ignoring immigration because it’s not the issue.' No you are ignoring it because you are out of your depth.

Oh please…. It honestly is pointless discussing anything with people like you the reality is you have very little to say and what you do have is steeped in hypocrisy and scaremongering. People like you see immigrants as numbers rather than people and are easily led into the idea that this tiny percentage of disadvantaged people with very little power are the root cause of all yours and societies issues.

It's pointless discussing anything with people like you, who form their opinion based on feelings and decide what other people's motives are for them!

If you look over my comments on this thread you will see I've had a lot to say and backed it up with evidence, unlike yourself.

'People like you see immigrants as numbers rather than people.' No. I see unvetted illegal immigrants as a national security risk and an enormous drain on taxpayers money. Neither of these things are false.

'people with very little power are the root cause of all yours and societies issues.' I certainly never said they are the root cause of the problems in the UK but they are a contributory factor.

Any other baseless assumptions you'd like to make?

UrticaDioca · 09/10/2025 19:47

Sorry - I abandoned my thread because there were too many messages to read, as well as some really outright racist/xenophobic ones that I didn't have the time or energy to respond to.

Anyway the big news is - the flag has been taken down (presumably by the owners)!! Goodness knows why. But it's gone!

I am reminded of Isaiah's advice to the Israelites deported to Babylon: that they should put down roots, literally by growing stuff, marry and have children, and grandchildren, and pray for the prosperity of Babylon because they would themselves then prosper.
Basically, fitting in and supporting the society you are in is a good idea and that bewailing that the new home is not like the old one is a waste of energy.
I also object to illegal immigrants, who are indeed a security risk. I also object to the traffickers making money out of people's need.

It IS unreasonable to be dismayed by our own country's flag.

My advice to you would be not to believe everything you read about TR.

Jumpers4goalposts · 10/10/2025 06:31

@Grammarnut its not illegal to be an immigrant or to go to a country to apply for asylum.

Seymour5 · 10/10/2025 08:44

IAmThePrettiestManOnMyIsland · 09/10/2025 11:00

The working class are those who are most negatively impacted by illegal immigration.

Not only illegal immigrants. There are areas in South Yorkshire (and elsewhere) where large numbers of Eastern European Roma have settled. They arrived legally. They often have large families, and end up living in overcrowded homes, lots of two up two down terrace houses. These areas, already multi cultural, have seen the houses plummet in value, huge tensions in the community due to very different lifestyles, lots of rubbish, flytipping etc. Their custom of socialising outdoors is noisy, and for some residents, feels intimidating.

Are the existing residents, including people of Pakistani, Yemeni, African, West Indian and white British ethnicities, racist? As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, the issues are often about the lack of integration, and the accelerating rate of change. The people making the rules, such as the government and the judiciary don’t live in these areas. They don’t fear walking out of their front door, their streets aren’t piled high with detritus. People are feeling unheard, worried for their children in the schools, for their futures.

Yeah me too! but often they are misinformed or somewhat ignorant tbh. 🙄 nothing really surprises me anymore. Spent time with old uni friends at the weekend and one woman is 'worried for her daughter's safetly with all the immigrants coming over' - I couldn't really believe what I was hearing tbh from a well educated friend. She should be FAR MORE worried about the awful white supremacist thugs already in the UK. I know I am! I'd happily swap the Tommy Robinsons in this country for a nice boat of immigrants.

LakieLady · 10/10/2025 12:29

Plumedenom · 09/10/2025 08:23

I literally put it like that to include past immigrants. I see the threat is not only to people who are "100% anglosaxon" (a thing that barely exists), but everyone who is already rooted here, who have families here. It has already led to displacement of families. Look at the social fabric of a place like Dewsbury 25 years ago versus now. It used to be a poor, post-industrial town but with a thriving market and a close local community. That community has been displaced, god knows where. Now it is a boarded up ghetto. Same story in Batley. As of 2021, Dewsbury's ethnic makeup was 50.8% White, 44.4% Asian. That is not diversity. That is a country that is becoming an Asian spin off.
In 2021, 23% of the population of West Yorkshire now identifies as being from an ethnic minority. That number is going to continue to increase.
When is it ok to say stop? When Gujarati becomes an official second language of the country? When White British people are a minority? When the official religion becomes Muslim? Please explain when enough immigration is enough, I am genuinely curious.

The second biggest, and fastest growing, group in the UK as far as religion goes is those of no religion, according to the last census. If that trend continues, religion will soon be an irrelevance and having an "official" religion will be a nonsense.

As for "White British" becoming a minority, how far back do you want to go? DNA analysis of the remains found in a cave in Cheddar Gorge showed that 10,000 years ago, Britons had dark brown skin and black hair, so presumably the light skin in itself is either a genetic adaptation or the result of mixing with other groups. The human race originated in Africa, so anyone north of the Med is descended from migrants.

The whole notion of some sort of racial purity is not only nonsense in a country that has been mixed to varying degrees since before the Romans got here, but it also has a very unpleasant 20th century history.

I agree with you. But if you mention the effect of legal migration too, people lose their shit entirely. It's already a pile on at the best of times if you don't subscribe to the popular view on here.
