11 million immigrants since 2000. When I

Sorry, it’s another immigration one.

I always see immigration discussed in terms of race, religion, who may or may not be a good fit for the UK, whether it’s by small boats - to be honest, this is not the biggest worry for me.

The biggest worry is the sheer increase in our population and how many people this country can reasonably accommodate. We are now 8th in Europe for population density - only behind Belgium and the Netherlands, and a handful of places like Vatican City and the Channel Islands. At present we have net migration of around 500,000 a year.

I’m worried that the key issues of overpopulation are being overlooked to make this conversation all about race. What about our pollution levels, wildlife habitats, flood risk, food security, infrastructure? Will this eventually be a polluted city state country? It seems to be heading that way.

Posters always say we need immigration, but we have already welcome 11 million since 2000. If that still isn’t enough; what is? Or do we just keep going?

Yes the silliness usually pops up to distract from facts.

Facts ?

So? Who cares. We are discussing further immigration, not existing ones.

Sorry, can't hear you, I'm busy reproducing and stealing acres of land while working my unskilled job.

This is gold. Distracting people from ‘facts’ that you’ve literally made up!

OP has a different understanding of numbers to many of us, perhaps she has a different understanding of words too, and doesn’t realise the general definition of the word.

And yet not a single one of you have presented an evidence alternative number. Why not?

Your absolutely obsessed we've had people who don't believe the ONS and don't believe the OECDs reports.

Yet no-one is willing to put any ideas as to how we manage population growth without driving a further housing crisis and/or food prices. I can only assume everyone who posts have no problem with the cost of living.

People just either want to say the ONS is wrong or be childish. The odd thing is there a lot that is being posted that is a value judgement on immigration other than from the people are would appear to pro immigration.

Complete calculation 1 page up.

No doubt everyone will carry on saying it’s made up, but it’s all there, and I await your meticulous correction from your own sources.

Because all they can do is spam, attack the person and make silly unrelated jokes. They know deep down this is a slow motion car crash, but they’re banking on other people dealing with it so they don’t look ‘racist’ - a label they’ve been flinging at everyone else.

We don’t have to produce a number to prove your number is made up. You have literally time and time again showed how you’ve estimated a number - it is not a real one. I don’t have a number because there isn’t one fixed number that is published. In the absence of this you can’t just do some rudimentary maths from varying sources and come up with a number!!!

I wouldn’t give a flying fuck if the number was 11m - great. But it’s not. That’s your absolutely inexpert extrapolation of population data into numbers of immigrants.

I think you two should take this to DM’s. Your own little chamber of fear and panic and self congratulation to the exclusion of all fact. Whale of a time!

Facts ?

You were outraged that 1 in 7 people are immigrants not us. Now you seem to be confused as it evidenced by the OECD. I don't care it is in 1 in 7, 1 in 5 whatever, I think the UK would be served by being a meritocracy - you can contribute come, if not leave, including kicking the British who nothing. We used transport people to the colonies but that is not longer in favour, and to be frank I can't see many countries willing to take our layabouts.

your lack of understanding of this principle is more evidence that you’re not used to working with data and facts.

If I state
‘88% of people who are anti-immigration deep down are racists’ you can’t then give me a number that disproves that.

Because it doesn’t exist.

But that doesn’t mean my original statement is true.

Stop with the silly gifs and let me know whether you understand that or if you need further explanation.

They don’t agree your number is correct - or if they do they’re mistaken too. They agree immigration needs to be discussed and controlled. Which I don’t think many disagree with. I don’t.

I DO disagree with making up numbers to try and push a political point though and I will vehemently oppose anyone who does so.

I have posted anything anti-immigration. My posts have assumed we accept immigration what do we do manage it. Lets assume we are good with another 5m people regardless of where they come from in the next 10 years. e.g. we 10 new Manchesters. What do we do to manage it? Move from arguing about the number because you say if you pro-immigration it doesn't matter - if anything presumably want more.

Why does it matter so much that 1 in however many are foreign born? Why does it matter that an x% of babies born in the UK have foreign parents? Why are some people so obsessed with the idea of 'white British' people becoming a minority - as if whiteness is an indicator of anything at all?

There are many legitimate debates to have about immigration. Most of mine centre on robbing countries of their brightest and best, but I also muse on the matter of choices and consequences: if as a country you prioritise short term gain for the wealthiest among us and refuse to invest in educating and training up your own, this is what you get and nobody wins.

But the whole numbers, ethnicity and ascribed qualities is just the Great Replacement Theory in a nicer suit.

It doesn't matter at all. I never made any judgement the number it is what is? I have proposed lots of ways manage increasing size, so palatable than others. Lots of people want more people to come so we need a plan to manage it. It will need to chance. Should the government be doing what the Chinese government is doing and buying up farm aboard to give food security? There has to be a plan for the long term.

I think it’ll drop as tech comes in. We won’t won’t extra people as jobs will be an issue.

Reservoirs near us are just not filling back up, each year they get lower and don't fully recover. I think there will be a water crisis if we keep expanding our population while Summers get drier.

Oh dear. You’ve been listening to a particularly thick reform councillor I fear. His views on low reservoirs has been swiftly debunked.

I’ve posted a bunch of links for your reading pleasure OP. Have a look through my posts on this thread and you’ll find them.

They demonstrate that overall population growth was 11m, death rate was lower than birth rate, and net immigration was not 11m. It’s all there if you just try and have a read.

But in contrast with global warming there will a migration of people to the north, and the UK will be an attractive destination,
