The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

Seems if you have compassion and empathy for the people of Gaza then you're anti-semtic ...

Or you just get told to blame hamas

PropertyD · 03/10/2025 16:18

There is a choice here. Keep the Jewish people safe or police the marches. There isn’t enough resource for both.

Are some saying the police need to do both and cancel all leave for their officers at a moments notice and just muddle on through it. People get arrested with resources taken up to process these people on marches. What on earth have we become.

Starmer and his pathetic response. Bloody well do something, ban the marches. The cost is obscene. Stop praising the police and saying we are putting our arms around the Jewish community. We have a cancer running through our country. It’s needs cutting out.

This.
The government response is weak and pathetic , sitting on the fence and worrying about voting patterns rather than the decisive response needed . These marches need shutting down .

MysteryNameChange · 03/10/2025 16:19

This thread is terrifying. I've not even been on a pro pal march and it's making me want to go on one.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1885871/british-muslims-support-hamas-israel-war

Sorry if link didn't work, but more than half of muslims do not support Hamas so please stop attacking the majority of us who are peaceful.

You think that 46% of the people surveyed supporting Hamas (a terrorist organisation) is not a problem?

46%…….

That is a massive percentage which equates to 2 MILLION people sympathetic with a terrorist organisation.

Deerfolk · 03/10/2025 16:19

No we need to keep marching until Israel stops murdering children.

Cathandkin · 03/10/2025 16:21

HappyGolmore2 · 03/10/2025 16:09

'Well I haven't seen ... blah blah blah' is the excuse for those who want to remain ignorant and leave their blinkers on.There is no pro- Israeli ... yes there bloody well is!
Again, right to peaceful protest - though why anyone would want to march FOR the actions of the genocidal Israeli government outside of Israel is beyond me.

Ok. I asked for a link. I wasn't rude or personal
I think it's perfectly possible to discuss this without stooping to that kind of personal and unpleasant retort.
Just my opinion.

Why don't we cancel all football matches for the weekend? They are pretty pointless and take up a lot of police resources.

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 16:22

The what aboutery is insane.

Scarpss · 03/10/2025 16:22

Opposing genocide does not equal antisemitism.

You can oppose genocide, oppose the systemic killing of innocent people, including 20,000 children, and also oppose the murder of the innocent Manchester victims.

To equate being pro-Palestine with terrorism or antisemitism is dangerous and undermines the genocide that is taking place.

How can you sit there and scoff at people going to out to try and stop the killing of innocent children?

Waitinggame42023 · 03/10/2025 16:23

My public sector employer circulated a message to warn staff travelling to office ls about 'emergency pro Palestine protests' taking place at major train stations today. I was shocked at the wording my employers chose, sadly not shocked at the timing clearly chosen for the protests.

PropertyD · 03/10/2025 16:23

Starmer meeting all the police and responders personally. Thanking them. Surely he has a more important role here.

Get on TV tonight. Condemn this but also set out what YOU are going to do. Ban the marches this weekend. Stop pandering to a certain religion. This is the UK.

The Home Secretary says she is ‘disappointed’ with the marches going ahead. She is the BLOODY HS. If she can’t move quickly to get a grip of what is happening here we have no hope.

Cathandkin · 03/10/2025 16:23

Thank you @HPFA , also, to be fair, the perpetrator's family issued a very good statement, very peaceful and conciliatory. Very sympathetic towards the victims.

JollyLilacBee · 03/10/2025 16:24

TaupeFinch · 03/10/2025 16:14

I think there is a need to seperate these things. Israel is a country and Judaism is a religion. What Israel are doing in Palestine is a genocide and it's ok to protest that. At the same time, it's ok to feel that the attack on a synagogue is an absolute tradgedy and shouldn't have happened. I worry that relating the two, could suggest that all Jews support Israel the two are inextricably linked which they're not.

A good amount of people that attend our local march are Jewish, and they stand there with Palestinian flags protesting the genocide that is taking place everyday. They hold signs that say ‘not in our name’.

Suszieq · 03/10/2025 16:24

The marches are showing what’s at the heart of the pro pally cause- pure unadulterated hate for the Jews. To protest yesterday is shocking and sickening. But what can we expect from people that gladly gobble up and then disseminate hate filled propaganda.

Izzy54321 · 03/10/2025 16:24

@HappyGolmore2 so what would call October 7th?? I see your protests are only for Gaza not the Jews eh??? Any other country would have done exactly the same as what Isreal has done when being attacked. But Isreal is held by a higher standard it seems.

lifeonmars100 · 03/10/2025 16:25

I was horrified by the terrorist attack in Manchester yesterday and I am also horrified by the genocide in Gaza, what does that make me?

Jigglypuff33 · 03/10/2025 16:26

APTPT · 03/10/2025 15:46

If you're at a march you're not looking for work. Cut off all benefits to those attending marches. Simple.

Perhaps we should take the vote away from anyone marching too....

I also did a double take with this. How can 46% of the Muslim population supporting terrorists be a GOOD thing? It's a stretch on the concept of majority vs minority, with only a 4% difference is it not. All it does is sadden me even more after the horrific attacks yesterday and serves to highlight we have got a huge divisive problem in the uk, one which no politician seemingly wants to address. When the pm talks of the ' enemy ' within Britain, which ' enemy' is he referring to? Because there appears to be more than one.

People marching for Palestine are in the main marching against the genocide happening there. Undoubtedly there are some antisemites marching as well. But there are plenty of Islamophobes condemning the Hamas attacks and the killings yesterday and no one is suggesting their condemnation blunts the message.

Two deaths shouldn't mean that the literally hundreds of daily deaths in Gaza are forgotten about. They are two separate things.

Condemning both the genocide in Gaza and the killings yesterday are not contrary positions. Unfortunately too many people think you are either on one side or the other. In my view the two sides are that you're either in favour of innocent civilians being killed or against.
