The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

But you realise that Hamas are not the Palestinian people? Any more than the Labour Party is Britain?

But Hamas are their leaders? How would you feel if we were in a war and Starmer and co uprooted and took themselves to safety hundreds of miles away? There’s just no condemnation of Hamas at all, and even now you’re trying to make excuses for them. Apparently you seem to think it’s okay for them to abandon their people.

Not many pictures now coming out of starving people. Why’s that? We were shown a handful of children who were clearly under nourished, but then nothing. Don’t you think if famine was an ongoing problem, we would be shown pictures every day? More propaganda.

It’s still there on instagram, but probably less in mainstream media as there aren’t many journalists left on the ground to report it. There is obviously going to be a huge shortage of supplies, as there already was before this happened

The majority of Jews living in Israel are European. They're not of ME heritage. It was not their land to be returned to.
Furthermore, since settling into the land that was awarded to them after the WW, they (the Jews that live in Israel) have occupied Palestinian land by force. They have murdered and displaced Palestinian people for decades.
People went out of their homes in the morning and returned to find they no longer owned homes.

This is categorically wrong. The majority of Jews in Israel are Mizrahi. Look it up. Even the ashkenazim were of course originally from the ME where else would they be from?

Whatamidoinhere · 03/10/2025 23:29

Anactor · 03/10/2025 23:24

I hate to point this out, but the area of land that was to be set aside as a Jewish homeland in 1948 by United Nations resolution 181 - was actually controlled by us British. We took it over from the Ottomans. Who were Turkish. Most of the land in the area was government controlled, which is why the UN thought they could divide it up and reserve a fairly small bit (about the size of Wales) for the Jews.

I suspect the 400 000 Jews who were displaced from various Middle Eastern countries where they’d lived for literally thousands of years might also have a few things to say about who’d been ‘displaced’ from where, but you’re not interested in Jewish refugees, are you?

But you make it sound as if the “area” was empty and was just given to jewish people peacefully. Sadly, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had to be displaced from their own homes and terrorised so that Israel could be created.

Clearly these marches do attract some people who are anti-semitic, so even if they don't represent the majority, doesn't it make sense to stop the marches for at least this weekend, just to show some respect for the Jewish community after a horrific attack?

No it doesn't make sense at all

BluntPlumHam · 03/10/2025 23:30

Absolutely shame on you OP to weaponise such an awful atrocity for your own agenda. Jewish community is sick of people like you hijacking something so awful to have happened to them and then for you to use it to justify another mass atrocity.

Icreatedausernameyippee · 03/10/2025 23:30

Anyone denying that there is a genocide and famine happening in Gaza right now is either lying or willfully ignorant.
They have both been officially declared and recognised by governing bodies across the globe.

You cannot truthfully, through well informed eyes, claim that Israel is acting fairly or in self defense.

And it absolutely should be protested.

nicepotoftea · 03/10/2025 23:30

Icreatedausernameyippee · 03/10/2025 23:22

Marches and protest against the genocide in Gaza, calling for our government to take action and our people to boycott Israel aren't Anti-Semitic.
Judaism and Israel aren't one in the same.
Unfortunately the daily killing of Palestinians will not stop because two people have been murdered in the UK and so the protests should continue.

Unfortunately the daily killing of Palestinians will not stop because two people have been murdered in the UK and so the protests should continue.

And it won't stop because people march this weekend.

Knowing that these marches are likely to attract at least some people who just want to vent anti-semitism, why not pause them for one weekend, given that two Jewish people were killed in the UK, and we are in the UK?

Can you not see that going ahead is counter productive?

No I dont think we should torture a people for decades, then bomb them when they fight back, remove all humanitarian corridors, prevent aid, prevent baby formula getting in, arrest children without charge, torture prisoners without cause, sexually abuse prisoners, discuss how we are going to use the rest of thier land once we have killed them all, call them children of the dark, label everyone of that heritage as inherently evil, remove basic amenteties such a PAPER and SEWING MACHINES and SEEDS from their grasp, remove their ability to visit family accross the border, have a tier system for resources on and on and on

I really hope that you are against that too

Of course there’s been a shortage of food. Much of it had been intercepted by Hamas, but now there’s been a change in the way aid is being delivered and distributed which takes the power away from Hamas and other associated people who were taking the aid. Much more food is now getting to where it needs to be.

They are bombing Gaza to destroy Hamas who perpetrated the 7 October atrocity and started this war.

Again, you need a history lesson, sorry

JollyLilacBee · 03/10/2025 23:32

SharonEllis · 03/10/2025 23:22

Why would they continuously bomb them? Only a small number of Hamas leaders have ever been there. What a bizarre idea.

Why would they continuously bomb innocent civilians in Gazan hospitals? In the hope that they might kill an odd Hamas fighter? Surely it would be better to target the top commanders?

Catssuddenlyappear · 03/10/2025 23:33

Justagirl95 · 03/10/2025 23:13

Appreciate the response! But I totally disagree with you, you just need to mention Trans/immigration/private school VAT or any other dog whistle (which seems to be the whole of my AIBU page atm) to see that the vast majority of posters hold extreme right-wing views.

Granted, I do only go on AIBU so its probably a narrow view of the site as a whole.

There's been a real shift since 2016 odd - there were always bitchy posters on here, but they were usually quite funny at least

AIBU is definitely the worst for it, some of the boards have these fashy weirdos appear but they're normally told to fuck off and ignored

Because as horrific as the murders were in the U.K., children and babies are being mass murdered, starved and injured by Israel, to a degree that any sane person cannot comprehend.

The hospital equipment might acquire sentience and become Hamas, you can't be too careful
