The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

Why are people too thick to not see how conflating ISRAEL with JEWS is in itself anti-semitic? Zionism is a political movement.

You can care about every single jew out there and be against zionism and wish for a free palestine??

Crikey, think half of Mumsnet would pass out to realise that the group I attend the rallies with are themselves, jewish.

Yeah, modern Zionism was started by a bloke who thought anti semitism meant Jews were never really going to be allowed to live peacefully anywhere they were a minority, and so they needed to have their own country.

Can’t imagine why he might think that…

Global Jews for Palestine are certainly working overtime tonight. They’re the pro-Palestinian equivalent of ‘but some of my best friends are Jewish’.

And how exactly will a march in London in support of a violent organisation help them?

What violent organisation? The British government sure is violent, I’m Irish. We lived 800 years under British oppression. Without even mentioning the Israeli army and their collaborators, who shoot starving children in the head queuing for food. I’ve seen the testimonies.

Call on Hamas to accept the peace deal.

I am very conflicted as I just want the killing and maiming of innocent people to stop but also why should they even temporarily be governed by a random board of people inducing Trump and Tony Blair . A convicted felon and a man who entered into an illegal war leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians with decades of repercussions. Hardly promising

How do you know it will be peaceful? Yesterday when some of us were reeling in grief and shock a protest in london resulted in 40 odd arrests. You have absolutely no way of knowing that a march in support of a violent organisation will be peaceful.

Everyone is talking about a march tomorrow, worth pointing out that the planned action tomorrow is a vigil where people will be quietly sitting holding cardboard signs.

If your outrage were really about civilian deaths, you would be just as vocal about the fact Hamas embeds itself in hospitals, schools and residential areas precisely to maximise civilian casualties and weaponise images of dead children. Israel is fighting a terror group that hides behind the very population you claim to care about, and no country on earth would tolerate thousands of its citizens being slaughtered and kidnapped without responding. International law also requires combatants not to use civilians as shields, something Hamas does openly. Starvation and devastation are not Israeli objectives, they are the predictable outcome of Hamas starting a war and refusing to surrender while operating from civilian infrastructure. And protesting one conflict while ignoring worse ones is selective by definition!

I'm sure Hind Rajab would take great comfort from the idea that she was a legitimate target 🫩

And if Israel didn’t attack Gaza, what do you think would have happened? Oh yes. The annihilation of israel! You do understand the phrase “from the river to the sea” don’t you?

But people can't pearl-clutch about that, so it's best to to call everyone terrorist Hamas sympathisers to shut down debate /s

Because it will make the killing stop!!!

It doesn't have to be perfect from the start but it would end the war and create some stability for a first step towards a long term solution and two states. I do agree Trump and Blair are awful but right now it's that or more war.

All these people claiming they just want peace and an end to the killing, but then don't want the peace deal? What's the priority here? Clearly it's not ending the killing if the peace deal isn't an option!

CrossChecking · 03/10/2025 22:38

SharonEllis · 03/10/2025 22:23

Exactly.

Have we not been told that these protests are full of terrorists, nearly 1000 people have been arrested so far for terrorism related offences. Do you not think it is helpful that all of these terrorists sit peacefully let the police arrest them? I can guarantee that they would arrest more people for terrorism related offences if the march goes ahead than if it doesn't. I can't think of a place the police make more terrorism related arrests at so this is surely the best place to start when it comes to making the UK safer?

Or is it a case of can you guys stay at home so we can focus on actual terrorists because although we've been arresting you in your hundreds we all know it's a farce?

Mimph · 03/10/2025 22:38

Totally agree that the marches should not happen, the police have given clear reasons why and in addition to that I feel out of respect they should not happen.

Yes, from the one end to the other the Palestians have the right to freedom?

What gave Britian the right to sign over the land. Would you like it if the British Goverment came along and kicked you out your home and handed it over and then killed you and tortured your grandkids for fighting it back? And when you were rehomed you were rehomed to a hovel?

Aurielle · 03/10/2025 22:40

It’s very clear that a lot of people on this thread are extremely uneducated when it comes to the complexity of this entire situation. There are statements being thrown around that are factually wrong. Again, we have the media and social media to blame for this. It just feels like a total mess.

Lovehascomeandgone · 03/10/2025 22:40

GoldPoster · 03/10/2025 22:21

It’s not peaceful protest. It’s hate.

And what do you call the genocide that Israel is imposing on Palestine? A Christmas fucking present?

DaringlyDizzy · 03/10/2025 22:41

Items Israel has banned in Gaza:

  • Fabric for clothing
  • Pasta
  • Musical Instruments
  • Wedding dresses
  • A4 paper
  • Biscuits and Sweets
  • Corinader, cumin, nutmeg, sage
  • Chicks
  • Sewing machines
  • Cement
  • Toys
The list goes on

Would you like to raise your child like that?

Yes, I understand the song, you're totally right. Singing a song in the streets during a march is so much worse than what's actually going on in Gaza 🙄

Marching for peace? So the march is to call on Hamas to accept the peace deal?

The news is moving rather fast but I suggest you make sure you are informed before commenting:

BBC News - www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn0xvnxqj2xt

In its statement responding to the US peace proposal, Hamas says it agrees to "release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, according to the exchange formula contained in President Trump's proposal, provided the field conditions for the exchange are met".

It adds that it "renews its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents" based on "Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support".

On the future of Gaza and rights of the Palestinian people, Hamas says this is "linked to a comprehensive national position based on relevant international laws and resolutions, and are being discussed within a national framework" of which it will be a part.

Yeah I feel the same, I can't bare to see anymore children with their limbs blown off or their ribs protruding. But I really hope Israel will be held to account for the multitude of war crimes they have committed

We have indeed been told that these protests are full of terrorists but my belief is that the government are not telling the truth about this. They have backed themselves into a corner with the proscription of Palestine Action and making the police waste their time arresting grandmothers.

I think the time for these marches is over . No cause outweighs national security and whilst there are muderous people out there it’s time to calm all this down .

In your opinion. In my opinion tens of thousands of murdered children absolutely does outweigh it

sunflower1022 · 03/10/2025 22:46

All those people who claim that attending those marches is an expression of their freedom of speech…

What would happen if you were to walk the streets demonstrating against black people?

Or Muslims?

Or is it only Jewish people that are fair game?

The antisemitism is honestly disgusting and it’s a huge problem in my home country and we’re not allowed to say which quarters it’s coming from.
