Please no pro Palestine marches tomorrow

NototerrorismIntheUK · 03/10/2025 15:15

The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

Of course it is. Because the people who support Palestine are by default supporting the people who instigated this war, and not placing the blame where it sits - at the feet of Hamas.

Give it up now, these contortions are worse than a game of twister. People support Palestinians. The end.

DrPrunesqualer · 03/10/2025 21:15

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 21:09

What??? Of course the pro Palestine group supports Hamas. Are you seriously saying you don’t know this?? Ffs

???????
Of course they aren’t !!!!!
Thats an inflammatory attack on protestors for peace and freedom

Are posters just making stuff up as they go along for maximum impact on this thread 🙄

If all pro Palestinian supporters are supporting Hamas they'd be locked up
They aren’t are they !!!
Logic

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 21:15

I have just about enough of this!
The support for Hamas on here is actually sickening. The worst of it being that the protesters themselves really do not seem to even understand this! It’s mind blowing to me.

MolliesMum2 · 03/10/2025 21:16

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 21:13

It’s a damn shame you don’t seem to know why you are even there…. Or who the pro Palestine group actually support!

Know where I am? You sounds very aggressive.

stomachamelon · 03/10/2025 21:16

@Auriellejust out of interest how do you support the Jewish community?

CleverButScatty · 03/10/2025 21:16

Livelovebehappy · 03/10/2025 20:02

But we all know that's not the reality...

No we don't all know that.
What makes you think that isn't possible?

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 03/10/2025 21:16

SharonEllis · 03/10/2025 21:00

You are seriously historically midinformed. First Jews are 'native' to the region. Second Israel has not persecuted an entire population. They have been at war with neighbours who rejected the opportunity for statehood and deny their right to exist. Thirdly the 'most harm' done to Jewish community was before the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 when the nazis extirminated 6 million of them. Fourthly holding Jews in the diaspora collectively responsible for the actions of any Israeli government is antisemitic and only the racists who do it are responsible. Nobody else.

Jews are ‘native’ to the region:
Jewish history goes back thousands of years - but so does Palestinian history. Saying Jews are ‘native’ as if that erases Palestinian nativeness is a classic settler-colonial sleight of hand. Palestinians are indigenous too, many still holding the keys to homes they were expelled from in 1948.

Israel hasn’t persecuted an entire population- it’s just at war with neighbours who rejected statehood:
Israel has controlled and dispossessed Palestinians for 75+ years:

  • The Nakba (1948): 750,000 expelled, 500+ villages destroyed.
  • Occupation of West Bank & Gaza (1967–today): Military rule, settlements, home demolitions, checkpoints.
  • Gaza blockade (2007–present): UN calls it collective punishment – it hits the entire civilan population.

“Rejected statehood”? Palestinians were offered scraps under Israeli military dominance - not a real state. And when people say Palestinians “deny Israel’s right to exist,” it’s often a distortion. They oppose an ethnocratic state built on dispossession, not Jewish safety itself.

Most harm to Jews was before 1948- the Nazis killed six million:
Yes, the Holocaust was horrific. But Palestinians had nothing to do with it, yet they paid the price through mass displacement. Edward Said put it well: “Why should Palestinians be made to bear the burden of Europe’s crimes?”

HappyGolmore2 · 03/10/2025 15:50

'The British left care far more about the Palestinians than they do about Britain.'

That's a sweeping statement, and also - total bullshit, if you forgive my language. Calling for an end to a genocide is hardly radical.

The British Left is very selective about which atrocities, genocides, and ethnic cleansings it cares about ending.

Massacres of Nigerian Christians? Crickets from the British Left.
Chinese persecution of the Uyghurs? Not so much as a boycott of cheap Chinese made clothes.
Grotesque atrocities amounting to genocide against the Massalit people and other non-Arab groups in Sudan? Is the British Left even aware this is a thing?
IS murdering, enslaving and raping Syrian Christians and Yazidis? Anyone remember weekly protests over this from the British Left? No? Nor me.

They soon will be. They are arresting hundreds every week or did you miss that as well?

Its pitiful.

Can you show us this? Also how do you know - we’re you at the match too?

You don’t read the News? It was shown yesterday. You might not want to believe that as it goes against your narrative of these lovely, empathetic people who go on these marches. But I’m afraid you’ll have to accept that this isn’t, nor has it ever, been the case. The only reason there aren’t more arrests at these marches is because the police have to be mindful that there is potential that they will be overpowered and put themselves and the public in danger by clamping down on inappropriate behaviour, because of the numbers involved.

sunflower1022 · 03/10/2025 21:11

I usually don’t comment, but I have been so disgusted by recent events (not just yesterday’s attack, but all the marches/ the normalisation of antisemitism/ Keir Starmer formally recognising the state of Palestine) that I can no longer remain silent.

To the Jewish community: I stand with you.

You don't recognise Palistinians?!

That is not why it was banned and you know it.
In addition, the government is full of lawyers, has access to lawyers and makes law. They knew full well that proscribing the group would mean they would have to waste police resources on people holding pieces of paper.

I'm confused. Are you saying Palestine Action was banned by paper pushers in govt because they want the police kept busy with pointless nonsense because. ....um.....reasons?

Catssuddenlyappear · 03/10/2025 21:18

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 21:11

If you want to support Hamas you go ahead. Don’t complain when your life is ruined by a criminal record, and as for the vicar - it just beggars belief.

It is deeply racist to conflate 'Palestine' and 'Hamas'.

There hasn't been an election there in 20 years, most of the adults still living there probably haven't ever voted.

Don't let that get in the way of being a racist, as well as being ableist and ageist though 💅

You seem to be quite selective in your disgust if you’ve been moved to post by Starmer’s recognition of Palestine but not the obliteration of Palestine.

Maybe we will find out Corbyn is being paid handsomely…

Yes Palestine Action was clearly proscribed because

  1. they spray painted some planes and showed up how lax military security is

  2. the govt thought proscribing them would play well with the right-wing voters they’re looking to court (they were correct, judging by this thread - and yet they needn’t have bothered. i bet few of the anti-march posters here would dream of voting labour, no matter what)

Firealarm1414 · 03/10/2025 21:20

To the people saying that this attack happened because of israel and hand wringing (victim blaming) about how if the "good jews" just made it clear that's what they are and not aligned with the "bad jews" then this wouldn't have happened etc. You do realise that this is just the latest in the long line of excuses used to murder and ostracise jewish people from society right?

This has been going on for centuries. Over the years, jews were at various times, baby killers (sounds familiar), reponsible for the black death, destroying the economy, hogging all the money, taking all the good businesses, bankrupting people and more. All these were used as reasons to justify pogroms.

We are seeing this happen again, the hysteria about Gaza is off the scale and completely disproportionate in comparison to other actual genocides and famines which are happening right now, which no one seems to care about. Comparing this war to the holocaust is particularly egregious. I'm not even jewish, but where I live has a strong jewish community. They are scared, with good reason. Ironically, all attacks and protests like this do is lead more jews to leave the country and head to Israel, where they are safe and which is the whole point of its existence.

Yep I’m all over it and haven’t seen what you are referring to. Maybe post the link here so we know you aren’t just misinforming people.

Not to mention that we also know Hamas have forcibly taken aid sent into Gaza and then sold it for profit to the desperate people they claim to represent. Not to mention that Hamas has engaged in a series of provocations throughout the current conflict designed to keep it going.

@Auriellejust out of interest how do you support the Jewish community?

I live in one of the most Jewish areas in the world outside of Israel (not in the U.K.). I have integrated and educated myself well and have many Jewish friends. I ask questions and celebrate holidays and traditions if invited and appropriate. I buy from small Jewish businesses.
