The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

Why are they so blind? Can they not see the damage they do? Why don't they care that this encourages people to hit out, shout out, be unkind, kill Jewish people? Spit at Jewish people? Shout free Palestine to Jewish people in the UK? That's just hatred, nothing else.

I have been on these marches - we are watching live stream genocide - and can’t simply not do nothing ! I know plenty of Jewish people who have marched for peace - saying not in their name. What has happened is abhorrent killed while praying truly awful.
Churches Mosques have been bombed to bits by Israel in Gaza - any one with empathy can stand up to both.

WhamBamThankU · 03/10/2025 19:01

One has nothing to do with the other. One extremist has carried out a terrorist attack, but what’s happening in Gaza is longstanding and still needs to be talked about

I agree with this. The Palestinian situation has nothing to do with British Jews, so we keep being told.

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 19:04

I would now happily see these marches banned. It has just become a vehicle for race hate.

Blocking aid and bombing hospitals and schools is part of the problem but you're OK with that?

Hamas put weapons in hospitals and schools.
That's okay?

Why would that be ok?

You were praising the father. Do you agree with his words about the October 7th attacks 7th attacks?

Where did I praise the father? I told you to re-educate yourself on the definition of Jihad and sent you a link to his statement published on the BBC website.

I don't agree with what he is alleged to have said about the attacks on the 7th Oct.

Justagirl95 · 03/10/2025 19:02

Why are they ignorant and racist?

Because the ones I've seen yesterday were actually celebrating. Absolutely disgusting.

How can it not be racist to celebrate the murder of an innocent member of the public simply because they were Jewish?

It beggars belief. Sickening.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/10/2025 19:07

to be fair, the perpetrator's family issued a very good statement, very peaceful and conciliatory. Very sympathetic towards the victims

I thought the same initially, @Cathandkin - right up until I read the earlier comments made by his father which have come to light

Now I'm wondering if his real purpose is to avoid scrutiny of the family - particularly the killer's two younger brothers - and getting ready to blame racism when they're focused on

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 19:07

You can’t call for the elimination of an entire nation and race - and call it a ‘peaceful’ protest or democracy.

Please support the peace deal if you want to help those poor people in Gaza that are being used as pawns by Hamas/Iran.

How many did you see? Do you have a video of people "celebrating" you can share with the class?

I cant comment until I've seen proof, as from what I have seen, you are talking absolute bollocks.

Greenmouldycheese · 03/10/2025 19:10

The were out celebrating the murders in downing street last night so I doubt they care. This has gone on long enough and it's time to stop those free palestine protests. Somwthing is deeply wrong with people. It's not normal to celebrate murder and have this much hate in their hearts.

Grapewrath · 03/10/2025 19:10

HappyGolmore2 · 03/10/2025 15:24

There's a genocide happening. People have the right to express there feelings about that, regardless of what else is going on in the world.
It is possible to abhor both the murders in Manchester and the genocide happening in Gaza, simultaneously.

all of this

There is an offer on the table to stop the war. Its on hamas to accept. Why arent people marching for this to happen? I haven't seen any pro Palestine people say that the deal should be accepted, its actually the opposite. Strange type of "genocide" where the chance to stop it is being actively rejected by those in power, and their supporters.

Israel unilaterally broke a 2 month ceasefire in March before moving to the second phase. Releasing hostages was part of the deal, and Israel reneged on the deal.

The deal that's being offered under threat of "hell unleashed on Gaza" hasn't been agreed between both sides. It's been decided by Israel and Trump and grants Israel what it can't manage even through this war. It places very few demands on Israel, the IDF will remain in Gaza, Israel can release Palestinian hostages after Israeli hostages have been released not simultaneously, which is the norm. Netanyahu has been speaking in the last few days in the media saying that there'll never be a two state solution, inflaming the situation at a very delicate time of negotiations.

The deal is lazy and can't possibly be a success, because it places most of the requirements and responsibilities on one side.

what happened yesterday is no reason to stop any protests relating to Palestine.

Anyone with an inch of humanity & compassion should not stop being vocal about their opinions on the genocide until it stops!

I don't think all future protests should be banned - there is a right to protest (peacefully) and a right to free speech - but any decent person would cancel this week's protests as a mark of respect for the dead in Manchester. Can't you see that?

Postpone them, just for a few days, that's how you could show some compassion, some humanity.

If you are referring to the genocide then I agree, it has gone on long enough. Or, are you referring to the tumultuous politics in that region? Again, i totally agree with you.

They were setting off fireworks and cheering. Nobody owed you a link. Go and search any news page and the videos are readily available. Just because you don't want to believe it or are a 'free palestine' person, it doesnt mean you should turn a blind eye to the behavioir of this crowds actions.

Anyone who attends one tomorrow will be showing themselves up as a nasty piece of work. No excuses anymore, even for the useful idiots.

Appalling that one went ahead in Manchester hours after the attack it's ilk had made inevitable.

I disagree, and doesn't make a me 'a useful idiot or a nasty piece of work.' I am going to list why- and you need to understand why none of the reasons below are mutually exclusive:

I support reasonable freedom of speech
I abhor what happened in Manchester.
I abhor the genocide happening in Palestine- indeed on the day of the evil in Manchester, the IDF killed 60 civilians in Gaza. Are these deaths of lesser importance because they are far away, or we are numb to the deaths of Palestinians, or they don't look like many of us in the UK?
My grandfather was an orthodox Jew, and some of his family were murdered in the Holocaust.
I support the right of Israel to exist.
I support a Palestinian state

I believe calling for pro-Palestinian demonstrations to be cancelled because of an anti-semitic attack in the UK plays into the lie that Jewish people are in any way responsible for the far-right genocidal lunatics running the Israeli government at the moment.

If I were to protest tomorrow, I would carry two placards- one calling for an end to the genocide in Palestine, and the other in total solidarity for the victims of the Manchester anti-semitic attack.

Well the only ones I've seen have an AI warning on them 😬

I'm genuinely asking, but if you can't prove it I suppose that's that then. I'm sure many other equally uneducated people will take your word for it.

Justagirl95 · 03/10/2025 17:16

I think you might be a bit confused - its Israel who are attempting to murder an entire race (that's what a genocide is)

Literally it’s terrifying that people like you exist- Hamas don’t want land they want all Jews removed from earth, after which they will move on to gays, blacks, moderate Muslims, western women.
Wake up!

Edited

Israel, on the other hand, is going much further than the pretence of a peaceful process and just getting on with the job of eliminating an entire nation. British Jews have nothing to do with Israel's crimes.
Protest at Israel committing genocide is important and needs to continue.

Just because a terrorist group does this, it doesn't absolve a recognised and legally-bound state from protecting civilians. Terrorist groups unfortunately behave like terrorists; legitimate governments can't and shouldn't and should clearly hold themselves to much higher standards of behaviour.

Yes, those videos that have AI warnings on them. Can you provide a link to a real one?

I'm not turning a blind eye at all.
