The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

I will be marching for palestine. In fact reading this sort of post makes me feel people need to make a stand more than ever. Israels actions are the cause of the increased antisemitism.

No, antisemites are the cause of increased antisemitism.

Exactly - Islamic terrorists slaughtering thousands of Nigerian Christians on a daily basis - but it doesn't involve Israel...so..

Is our government actively aiding and abetting said terrorists? Was it originally involved -nay, the root cause of- the source of the conflict?

We have the right to peaceful protest and freedom of speech, regardless of how you feel about the cause, so marches should go ahead.
Trying to use hate incidents to shut down freedom of expression is disgraceful.

^ This!

Our democracy should not be eroded by anyone!

Because the first March that sprang up in the UK was on October 7th, before Israel had done anything to respond to Hamas’s attack. The marches began by celebrating the heinous attack on our friends and family in Israel. Over half of the worlds Jewish population live in Israel, so almost all Jews will have people that they care about living there, as we’re a tiny and tight knit community (only 10 million in the world).

We also are deeply fearful of the chants. ‘From the river to the sea’ is a call for the total destruction of Israel, which will mean the ethnic cleansing and massacre of all of our people there. Many of our people who escaped there following the Holocaust and the Farhud (forced expulsion of Jews from Arab countries). ‘Globalise the intifada’ is a call for violence against our people. The second intifada in Israel was a time of bus bombings and stabbings of people in cafes and schools and supermarkets. People are calling for this to happen again, not just in Israel, but globalised around the world.

Then there are the many anti-Semitic signs we see at protests of the ‘hook-nosed Jew’ and Holocaust inversion etc.

If these marches were genuinely and exclusively calling for peace, then I would join every single week. But I believe in a 2 state solution, so that makes me the ‘Zionist enemy’ that deserves violence according to many who attend.

And you are against people protesting against the ethnic cleaning and massacre of Palestinians? Double standards or what 🙄

Israels actions are the cause of the increased antisemitism.

So people are blaming British jews for the Isreal governments actions....

The British left care far more about the Palestinians than they do about Britain. I have nothing but goodwill towards both sides in the Arab-Israeli conflict, but I’m too busy clinging on to what is left of my own English-British identity to worry about Palestine. Mass immigration and multiculturalism have been imposed on this country and have completely destroyed our identity. Someone hung an England flag near me and a group of people tore it down. They filmed themselves doing it while a small crowd cheered. That is what the left think of me and my nation. They cheer when an England flag is torn down from a lamppost IN ENGLAND, yet they expect me to care about other nations.

Other than the flag debate, what is eroding your "English-British identity"?

What features of multiculturalism are threatening your identity?

what about Ari and Kfir Bibas? None of these thousands of children would be dead if Hamas didn't attack on October 7.

Yes they would.

Don't be so bloody ignorant.

Children have been murdered every day by the IDF since 1948, in the hundreds of thousands every year.

I'm altering my post. Apparently the father was an NHS surgeon but now works overseas. Although perhaps the mind could boggle at where he is working, who he is working for and what he could be up to. I guess it is another reminder that 'doctor' doesn't automatically mean 'good person.'

Educate yourself about the actual definition of the word Jihad. And here is a link to the father's statement.

Do some basic fucking reading before making accusations

This response to a Jewish person explaining their reflections, fears and experiences reveals a lot about your approach to "your" Jewish community.

So with that logic, the policies of the Taliban government 1000s of miles away in Afghanistan should increase Muslim hatred here? I doubt you agree with that. & neither do I.

Imagine if people had just decided the time to protest against Apartheid was 'over'.
Imagine if the Civil Rights leaders in the USA in the 60's had just given up. Imagine if all the people arguing and negotiating for peace in Northern Ireland had just stopped because of 'national security'?

Using 'national security' to shut down the right to peaceful protest is a slippery, slippery slope.

They’re not peaceful, they’re a bunch of hateful idiots. There were 40 arrests last night at a pro Palestine match.

Tootyfilou · 03/10/2025 18:38

The attack in Manchester yesterday was horrific and abhorrent. My heart goes out to the people, family and friends of those injured and killed. Individual terrorism will never solve anything.
As others have said however, protesting against the Genocide in Palestine , does not mean that you are anti semitic, and it certainly does not mean that you approve of the despicable attack on the Manchester Synagogue.
To conflate the two is idiotic.

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 03/10/2025 18:38

There don’t need to be pro Palestine marches full stop. It’s all just posturing and makes not a jot of difference to anyone.

I will be out protesting because I am pro Palestine and rightly Jewish people assert that has nothing to do with the Jewish faith and is aimed at the Israeli government and anyone of any faith or nationality who supports the current ethnic cleansing. I cannot fathom why showing support for Palestine would be disrespectful to people murdered for their Jewish faith, that disgusting act has nothing to do with my belief that Palestinians should be free and not murdered in terrible ways every single day

Yes and no.

Antisemitism has a long history and has bubbled under the surface in Christian Europe for 100s of years. What has happened is that antisemites have felt emboldened and justified by using the actions of the Israeli state as an excuse.

One of the difficulties I think is that Israel refers to itself as the State of the Jews, as though all Jews are by default Israeli by virtue of their religion. It is a religion not a race or nationality. Israel is not the cause of antisemitism anymore than Jewish bankers or war reparations were the cause of the rise of Nazis and the holocaust.

I think too, the left need to be careful here. We have the far right on the march intent on gaining power, attacking immigrants and workers rights- fascism is on the move. And they won't stop there. Most of these right wing white supremacists are hiding their antisemitism for now. Aligning ourselves with right wing conservative Islamists will not create a society that will tolerate progressive politics. I refuse to align myself on single issues with those I fundamentally disagree with on wider issues.

I shall be protesting in support of Palestine and we must make sure marchers are not demonised including muslims on the march

Once again people often tar muslims with the same negative brush. Classic egs are that the muslim community have negative views towards gay people but only 50% do.

We also hear that muslims have negative connotations with male dominance but only 39 % of British muslims think wives should always obey their husband. Despite this once again we are continually told by the far right that women are oppressed, but in reality it is only a relatively small percentage and it is the typical lies perpetuated by the daily fail.

Educate yourselves and don't fall into prejudice or bigotry. What I would say is any marches should be kept away from the area where the tragedy occurred yesterday out of respect for the dead. My thoughts go out to those of all religions as human life is precious

www.ibtimes.co.uk/more-50-british-muslims-back-criminalising-homosexuality-icm-poll-reveals-1554126

You do realise that all the links you’re posting in these threads have enormous percentages in them?

39% of Muslims believe women should obey men
50% of Muslims have hatred for homosexuality
48% of Muslims are in agreement with Hamas (from a link you posted earlier)

Those numbers should be less than half that in a western society. There are 4 million Muslims in the uk, so by those numbers 2mil hate gays, nearly 2mil support a terrorist organisation and about 1.3 million think women are less than.

I wish the pally Wallys would just fuck off for good. Virtue signalers, paid agitators, Jew haters and useful idiots is all they are. And according to one police officer, you can smell them before you even see them.

Stop lying.

Of course it is all lies.
The only democracy in the Middle East is peace loving and tolerant.

The below is also lies and made up by antisemites.
“They ran like cats,” related the commander of the operation, Yehoshua Zettler, the Jerusalem commander of Lehi, as he described the Arabs fleeing from their homes. Shoshani interviewed him in 2009, a few weeks before his death. Zettler denied that his people carried out a massacre in the village but he spared no words to describe the way its inhabitants were killed. “I won’t tell you that we were there with kid gloves on. House after house … we’re putting in explosives and they are running away. An explosion and move on, an explosion and move on and within a few hours, half the village isn’t there any more,” he said.
Zettler also provided a harsh account of the burning of the bodies of those who were killed, after the village was occupied. “Our guys made a number of mistakes there that made me angry. Why did they do that?” he said. “They took dead people, piled them up and burned them. There began to be a stink. This is not so simple.”
Another harsh account was provided by Prof. Mordechai Gichon, a lieutenant colonel in the Israel Defense Forces reserves, who was a Haganah intelligence officer sent to Deir Yassin when the battle ended. “To me it looked a bit like a pogrom,” said Gichon, who died about a year ago. “If you’re occupying an army position – it’s not a pogrom, even if a hundred people are killed. But if you are coming into a civilian locale and dead people are scattered around in it – then it looks like a pogrom. When the Cossacks burst into Jewish neighborhoods, then that should have looked something like this.”
According to Gichon, “There was a feeling of considerable slaughter and it was hard for me to explain it to myself as having been done in self-defense. My impression was more of a massacre than anything else. If it is a matter of killing innocent civilians, then it can be called a massacre.”
Yair Tsaban, a former Meretz MK and government minister, related in his interview with Shoshani that after the massacre, in which he did not participate, he was sent with fellow members of the Youth Brigades to bury the corpses of the dead. “The rationale was that the Red Cross was liable to show up at any moment and it was necessary to blur the traces [of the killings] because publication of pictures and testimonies about what had happened in the village would be very damaging to the image of our War of Independence,” he said.
