NototerrorismIntheUK · 03/10/2025 15:15

The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

Well 91% of Britiish Jews consider themselves Zionists.
Which means, by the actual definition that they believe in the right for the state of Israel to exist.
& the hate marches are full of vile rhetoric about Zionists so I'm sure you can figure out why Jews might find them full of hate & antisemitism!

None of the marchers I know have an issue with Israel existing, though I am sure some do. If 91 percent of marchers would like a two state solution are you prepared to stop saying that the marchers are antisemitic?

Confusedmum74858 · 03/10/2025 18:17

What the actual f* are the comments on here? Hundreds of thousands of children have died in Gaza since October 7th 2023 and people are well within their rights to continue protesting. Yes what happened in Manchester was absolutely sickening and NO ONE deserves to die just because of where they are from but COME ON their is a genocide happening here!!!!

Beerpink · 03/10/2025 18:17

We have the right to peaceful protest and freedom of speech, regardless of how you feel about the cause, so marches should go ahead.
Trying to use hate incidents to shut down freedom of expression is disgraceful.

DrPrunesqualer · 03/10/2025 18:11

I’m not aware of dancing. There’s nothing in the news.
The demos in Brighton were in protest of the Israeli forces arresting those on the humanitarian Flotilla boats.

Brighton also has an installation of children’s shoes marking all those killed
Nothing to do with the attack on the synagogue

My friend had to come through Brighton station and make her way through the march as it was leaving the station and walking towards the clock tower.

She says people were gleeful and some were dancing. Fucking horrifying. I have no reason not to believe her.

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 18:18

I really don't think that's what the government is doing. Plus postponing a march doesn't mean people can't express themselves.

Hear hear!

It sickens me that people march and protest for a far off land and do so in these isles - and the powers-that-be allow them, not only to intimidate, but fly a foreign flag under which terrorists rule. One of their terrorists has only just committed murder on these shores. Others have done so, previously.

According to the BBC, the Manchester perpetrator is from Syria, not Palestine.

Jumpingthruhoops · 03/10/2025 17:57

This! 👏👏

Look back further in the posters comments, she is talking about the marches in general, not just this weekend.

Branleuse · 03/10/2025 18:20

I will be marching for palestine. In fact reading this sort of post makes me feel people need to make a stand more than ever. Israels actions are the cause of the increased antisemitism.

LuLuLemonDrizzleCake · 03/10/2025 18:21

HappyGolmore2 · 03/10/2025 15:24

There's a genocide happening. People have the right to express there feelings about that, regardless of what else is going on in the world.
It is possible to abhor both the murders in Manchester and the genocide happening in Gaza, simultaneously.

100% this

what about Ari and Kfir Bibas? None of these thousands of children would be dead if Hamas didn't attack on October 7.

Anything factual in the news
Any evidence on social media

Ive been looking and I see absolutely nothing on this

All I see is lots of posts of people leaving children’s shoes at the installation.

So the correct response to this awful antisemitic attack is to send out a long list implying that Jews, unlike Muslims, are not terrorists?
And that is not goady or designed to inflame tensions in any way?

true though. We can only deal with the terrorism problem if we accept it for what it is. Islam has a major problem with extremism.

Linenpickle · 03/10/2025 18:21

But it’s my human rights to go on a protest to support a terrorist organisation… boo bloody hoo.

as several said to David lammy today… shame on you - and starmer and khan and everyone who has forgotten British values.

awaynboilyurheid · 03/10/2025 18:21

I really feel these marches should not go ahead after what has happened in Manchester . It makes me angry to see people keep going on about free Palestine it’s never been free for woman or people who are gay it’s under Hamas rule, wake up, half of you on these free Palestine marches would be locked up or worse.

Verv · 03/10/2025 15:19

YANBU, but you're giving the pally mob too much credit - they'll be out in even more force imo.

100% this

Linenpickle · 03/10/2025 18:22

If this event had been against some other races, there would be rioting and looting.

the Jewish community have been very dignified at an awful time.

JoiedeMay · 03/10/2025 18:23

I enjoyed the new version of the chant from an Arab comedian I saw which went:-
'“Folks, we need to stop using the chant from the River to Sea. Palestine will be free. You are asking to wipe out the whole of Israel. And that is anti-Semitic. Instead what you should say is: from the east bank of the Jordan River, including Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp, Tulkarm and Nablus, Nablus until the first checkpoint, and if they let you pass, skip Israeli cities, Qalqilya, Fasa until the next checkpoint advance through Palestinian cities, until the end of the West Bank. Ramalah, East Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Efrat, and Hebron, refugee camps like Aida and Dheyste, skipping all of Israel, then you go all the way to Gaza, bordering cities that you won't pass through, Sredrot, Ashkelon, Netviot and Ashdod, progressing through Gaza City, and Khan Younis until the Mediterranean Sea, Palestine will be free! This is not anti-semitic, just make sure to exclude the illegal Israeli settlements”

RisingSunn · 03/10/2025 17:48

Yes - I do know what whataboutism is is.

You called the mention of the slaughter of Nigerian Christians a 'pro - Israel trump card' which I think is highly distasteful.

Unfortunately, there is so much suffering in the world at the moment - and guess what...much of that is outside of Gaza.

But where are the protests?

Then act like it. Calling whataboutism isn’t a comment on the political situation, but rather the person who appears to be weaponising it as a means to discredit, distract or silence from another. What’s distasteful is actually doing as I accused i.e. bringing the situation up disingenuously.

There are current protests for Sudan and DR Congo, and if Nigeria is an interest of yours I can name some accounts to follow for people speaking up against the regime there and you can show support.

I shall be protesting in support of Palestine and we must make sure marchers are not demonised including muslims on the march

Once again people often tar muslims with the same negative brush. Classic egs are that the muslim community have negative views towards gay people but only 50% do.

We also hear that muslims have negative connotations with male dominance but only 39 % of British muslims think wives should always obey their husband. Despite this once again we are continually told by the far right that women are oppressed, but in reality it is only a relatively small percentage and it is the typical lies perpetuated by the daily fail.

Educate yourselves and don't fall into prejudice or bigotry. What I would say is any marches should be kept away from the area where the tragedy occurred yesterday out of respect for the dead. My thoughts go out to those of all religions as human life is precious

So 50% have negative views on gay people - you think that is an OK statistic?

From one of my Jewish friends today

"British Jews don't drive cars into civilians or police before getting out to stab them.
British Jews don't blow ourselves up on the London Underground.
British Jews don't detonate ourselves on Central
London buses.
British Jews don't strap knives to our wrists and rampage through London's markets massacring revellers.
British Jews don't hack British soldiers head's off on our streets.
British Jews don't drive Jeeps loaded with propane canisters into Glasgow Airport.
British Jews don't stab people at Victoria station while shouting Jewish slogans.
British Jews don't stab multiple people in Forbury Gardens while shouting "God is Great"
British Jews don't stab MPs during constituency surgeries.
British Jews don't detonate homemade bombs in taxis near Women's Hospitals.
Our marches wave Union flags.
We say a prayer for the King and Royal Family in our sabbath services and religious festivals.
We sing God Save The King at our weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs.
UK society has been gaslit.
You're looking in the wrong direction."

Oh well, as long as there's a clear cause for it, anti semitism is all good then, eh? The level of argument is precisely what I would expect of old lefties under the sway of social media. Tell me about all the other genocides you have protested against? Tell me why you insist on your freedom to defend a ruling terrorist organisation which permits its own people precisely zero freedom?

JKLolling · 03/10/2025 18:25

If the pro-pal marchers were decent people they would postpone it (not like it's going to make a blind bit of difference to tbe situation in the middle east, the whole thing is just vanity posturing for losers or the simple minded without anything better to do. If they really want to help, train up and go and help, don't stand in central London shouting antisemitic slogans holding your costa, I'm embarrassed for them)

The marches will go ahead, which is probably a good thing for those of us who see them for what they really are, as it's tasteless and thoughtless and will turn even more of the normal free thinking public against them. Think they should ban facecoverings though so employers or potential employers, can see them
