Please no pro Palestine marches tomorrow

The police and others have called out in the hope that there will be no pro Palestine marches tomorrow. They are stretched and say it will divert resources from trying to protect the Jewish people following the terrorist attack yesterday.

I agree. No march tomorrow AIBU?

The pro pal marches have been an utter failure so far, considering the war is still very much raging.

So maybe accept that the march this weekend isn’t going to make any difference either, as Netanyahu couldn’t give one flying fuck what John from Barnet thinks about his policies.

The Jewish community do however feel targeted and intimidated and terrified at the site of the constant mobs every week (me included). Sure not everyone is inciting violence, but any chants of ‘globalise the intifada’ are directly calling for violence against Jews.

Well the Intifada has been globalised now, and my community in Manchester have been the victim of it.

No doubt there will be more of this same chanting this weekend, and no doubt there will be more attacks sadly because our government are too spineless to do anything to tackle the hate.

Look at the videos of the Manchester Jewish community booing Lammy today, and you’ll see how our mourning community feels about these ongoing protests.

Whataboutism?? Have you seen the numbers? If your username is an indication of your heritage...then you should know that the onslaught of Nigerian Christians is far from whataboutism!

Genuinely asking do you know what whataboutism means because how did you get me denying the high death toll of from extremism, which if you know anything should be aware isn’t just towards Christians.

Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party and a prominent Jew has himself come out and called for solidarity. Whilst bombs are being dropped on children, a genocide is happening and Israel is being funded by the government everyone has a right to march.

They are two separate issues.

Hardly a prominent Jew. He's not practicing or involved in the Jewish community or holds any elected position. Definitely not representative of the community!

Verv · 03/10/2025 17:34

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 17:27

Exactly my point. They marched against a war that killed hundreds of thousands more, but when Israel responds to terror in exactly the same way, it's labelled as genocide.

I marched, never heard the word genocide. We are held to a different standard obviously

Absolutely.

I was horrified by the terrorist attack in Manchester yesterday and I am also horrified by the genocide in Gaza, what does that make me?

Presumably, someone who thinks Hamas should accept the peace deal.

Thegreyhound · 03/10/2025 17:34

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 17:24

It’s so disrespectful and honestly I can see serious violence breaking out - not from the Jewish community grieving, but from parties like Reform that have had enough of our way of life evaporating before our very eyes: ie respect, decency. The norms in this country when it comes to loss of life. I can really see them wading in.

We are not going to tolerate this outrageous behaviour and hate marches for much longer.

Edited

Who is ‘we’?
As for hate marches, do have a view of the many interviews with Tommy Robinson marchers that are circulating. A great deal of hate on display.
We must be using different dictionaries for the word ‘decency’.
It is indecent to ethnically cleanse and starve a population and to send a genocidal government weapons.
It is indecent to use the internet to make weird threats about how ‘we’ are ‘not going to tolerate’ things and to talk about ‘serious violence’

CopperWhite · 03/10/2025 17:34

Isreal hasn’t stopped bombing, blockading or shooting at innocent people, so why should we stop protesting it?

I’d agree with protests in Manchester being postponed for a week, but it is not relevant anywhere else.

PigletJohn · 03/10/2025 17:35

I'm not in favour of ethnic violence and murders of any kind.

Surely I can say so?

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 17:36

It doesn't matter how our neighbours here feel because Isreal, Gaza, blah, blah, blah

2023-2025 - The pro Palestine mob lines UK streets persistently shouting about the horrors of Israel and “genocide”.

2/10/25 - Jews murdered in Manchester by a terrorist named Jihad.

3/54/5/10/2025 - Its the mob's "right to protest and exercise their freedom of speech" - regardless of the consequences that their speech has emboldened, encouraged, and rewarded.

And yet from the period 1990-2020 (which covers 3/4 of the time period of your list), it’s widely estimated that Palestinian civilian deaths outnumber Israeli ones 30 to 40 times. So for every Israeli civilian death there are 30-40 innocent Palestinians killed.

So given your post took up about half of a page, the list of Israeli atrocities would cover the whole thread up to Page 15.

Using the tragic murder of a Jewish person to try and besmirch the actions of those standing up to genocide is gross.

Everyone sees you

Can we just stop with ‘we see you’ as a way to cast aspersions on posters who haven’t actually said anything hateful?

It was done to me (on a thread completely unrelated to this topic) and it’s just shitty.

DomPom47 · 03/10/2025 17:37

Two things can be true at the same time. People are right to think that what happened in Manchester was senseless and evil. And those involved need to feel the full force of the law. Equally people have the right to protest. People have the legal right to show their issues with apartheid and a genocide. Let’s think about the fact that entire Palestinian families have been wiped out. Let’s also reflect on Palestinian grief. Throughout the holy month of Ramadan the bombings and murdered continued in Gaza. People should be able to acknowledge both these truths. There are Jewish people at these marches including Holocaust survivors and their families. There are Jewish people fasting outside parliament to draw attention to the events in Gaza.

Yes, 1948. A person in the British Government drew some lines on a map and created Israel.

I wonder if posters know that Christians live in Palestine and are also murdered by the IDF. There are some terrorists in Palestine but that does not call for all men, women and children to be exterminated as it happening.

I studied at Yad Vashem and a genocide by fire and bombs is the same as a genocide through gas.

Nestingbirds · 03/10/2025 17:29

Because we have had a very serious terrorist incident in this country - on our soil. Involving the death and injury to one of our communities. It is standard practice in this country to be respectful after such incidents. It is utterly vile and tasteless to start another protest, and yes will tip into celebration of the loss of life.

Here, we honour the dead. Regardless of their religion.

Please show some god damn respect. You are not welcome to bring this to our streets and cities. You are inciting violence and you know it.

But you’re not actually explaining why protesting murder is anti-Semitic? It’s beyond hypocritical to say we should honour and respect the dead of the attack in Manchester but it is not welcome on ‘our’ streets (I am also white British if that’s what you are implying, they are ‘my’ streets too) to protest attacks killing other innocent people. So because a radicalised/mentally unwell man kills 1 person in Manchester we should all just accept slaughter in Gaza, is that your point? If you read more than just the Daily Mail you’d find that the vast majority of British and European people do not support Israel’s actions in Gaza. This is not an issue of ‘foreigners bringing hate to our streets’ as you so imply (copy paste from a Daily Mail headline?) but quite the opposite. People also have a right to protest, whether you like it or not.

Goodaanari · 03/10/2025 17:39

JollyLilacBee · 03/10/2025 17:37

‘Your’ Jewish community who are joining these protests are a tiny, fringe minority of Jews. I attend Heaton Park synagogue, and I can assure you that not a single member of that synagogue wants the marches to go ahead. It’s doubly traumatising.

JustSawJohnny · 03/10/2025 17:40

Every human being is worthy of empathy.

I am capable of feeling sad and disgusted about the terrorist attack on the Jewish community yesterday AND angry about the actions of Netanyahu and the IDF against Palestinian civilians.

I will not be forced to choose a definitive 'side' when there are glaring issues from both and I will not turn a blind eye to atrocities, no matter the victim.

The notion that you must be anti semitic if you support Palestine is disgraceful. Anti Zionism is not the same as anti semitism and people trying to shut down any conversation by using that line dont care about true anti semitism like Manchester.
