Sick of the lie 'It's just illegal immigrants people don't like.'

Slightyamusedandsilly · 26/09/2025 22:08

This is just not true.

Reform, the flag flyers and protesters are racists. All of this 'It's just the illegals we want gone.' is a lie to excuse their racism.

It’s not nuanced and complex. The foreign face on your street is not the reason your services are pressured.

Our rapidly increasing population is part of it as you well know, a population that is ageing fast, seemingly insurmountable economic problems, technology that has meant less & less jobs since the 80s, vastly over-priced housing and lack of affordable & decent rental properties, an NHS that seems to be doing everything on the cheap as it’s so overstretched & underfunded, schools struggling with kids who seem to be incapable of good behaviour or are thrown in the deep end on arrival as they speak little or no English and all other things that prevent kids from learning, continuing de-industrialisation, ineffective/corrupt/lying politicians are part of it, too. The list is endless but ultimately it comes down to money, and we don’t have enough. Employers want to pay rock bottom wages so we need UC to top these up people can afford to live a decent life. For many people, particularly in deprived areas, they see mass immigration as the straw that broke the camel’s back.

And then they are looked down on by people like you.

Toastandbutterand · 27/09/2025 00:17

For years i have been told I need to be kind to people with a different opinion to mine. I have. I tried to understand their opinion. I struggled to be who they wanted me to be. I fit in.

But they still want me gone.

So I will not, I do not care.

Anyone who votes reform is stupid or racist or wants your money.

Thats it. That's all there is. There is no nuance.
There is no debate.
I have read thousands of articles. I have engaged with many people. I have looked into all the arguments.

They are either stupid, racist, or they want your money.

I can no longer refrain from telling them that from kindness and politeness. They are not kind and polite. Facts don't matter.

So I reiterate.

If you vote reform, you are either stupid, racist, or you want other people's money.

I dont care which one you are, go ahead, I can't stop you. But I see you. You are not fooling me.

Stop pretending.

You are racist, stupid, or you want other people's money.

It is you who will be the downfall of this country.

My company offices are in the centre of Manchester, when we have had protests multiple British employees who happen to not be white have felt afraid to come to work. This is with due cause after a gang of racist men shoved one of our non-white interns onto the concrete at a tram stop and broke her arm. It absolutely breaks my heart that productive, law abiding, tax paying members of the British public are treated like this and feel unsafe in their own city because of the colour of their skin. There is no other excuse as they were born here, have good jobs and contribute to society and still they are targeted during protests. Objecting to uncontrolled migration is one thing, but for every person genuinely objecting to illegal immigration for valid reasons, there are 5 more looking for an excuse to be racist twats.

gingerelephant · 27/09/2025 00:27

Using emotive terms such as racist and phobic stops debate. I believe that those who come to live in this country need to integrate and adapt to our culture and values, the problem in my view is that some migrants are not integrating and want to change our society. That is not a racist view but a view and I think the view of many.

As they look down on others. You excuse them. But not the people who argue with them.

You feel more sympathy for your fellow British born strugglers than you do those foreign born.

I see.

Racism isn't emotive. It is. It is tangible.

Even more lack of housing, N.h.s. overwhelmed , we are a small island, we don't have room ! Benefits through the roof! If benefits were not being paid to those not born here, the small boats would be out of customers and empty.

More people to build, more people to work, more taxes to take.

Toastandbutterand · 27/09/2025 00:44

The small boats barely existed before Brexit.

There were legal routes to claim asylum. The small boats were caused by Brexit.

Toastandbutterand · 27/09/2025 00:48

Many countries built up instead of across.

These are now the richest countries in the world
So lack of space is a redundant argument.

Key point here is "how are you defining racist?"

I tend to think of racist as being the hard-core ones of my childhood, who wanted me to leave the country because of the colour of my skin. I think we're calling them ethno nationalist now.

as opposed to the civic nationalist type. I realise that some people think the latter are just pretending.

Other people will have different definitions

Some of those definitions make me and my mum racist. I think we've both just accepted the fact that Keir Starmer probably thinks we're far right racists.

I keep thinking back to Gordon Brown and that lady in Rochdale and how different things could've been if people weren't shut down all those years ago.

Edited

I keep thinking of Gordon Brown and thst incident as well. I loved him for it because it showed that he truly didn't think that immigrants were a problem or to be blamed for the ills of this country.

I think if Gordon Brown had won that election we would be living in a different country now. David Cameron gave a voice to racists and allowed racism and xenophobia to be normalised to further his own personal ambitions. He is just a really amoral person..

YANBU @Slightyamusedandsilly.

The racist riots close to me targeted all and anyone, mostly those who are here legally, who work for a living and pay tax. Unlike the violent scum who forced them out at the expense of law abiding, tax paying citizens.

Unsurprisingly, a disproportionate amount of the violent "patriots" have been investigated for VAWG.

GoodTimesNoodleSalad · 27/09/2025 01:46

Starmer is now saying a fight with Reform is a ‘fight for soul of the nation’

Except it’s Labour who want to sacrifice that soul in pursuit of never-ending cheap, poorly educated, low-skilled immigration with all the fast-food delivery drivers and middle-class convenience it offers.

susiedaisy1912 · 27/09/2025 01:52

Uggbootsforever · 26/09/2025 22:15

I’m concerned about immigration. I’m not racist, I’m part of a happy multicultural family.

Our country is far too small to keep allowing net 900,000 immigration every year. I value green spaces, food security, a lower flood risk, wildlife, clean air. I don’t want the country ultimately becoming a large city state with the odd park where gardens are for the rich, and I don’t think we are obliged to do so in order to accommodate people from other countries who feel it is their right to live here. We need farmland, importing more and more produce is hideous for the environment and leaves us vulnerable. Our roads and infrastructure are barely coping as it is, and we’ve killed off hundreds of species of native wildlife due to pollution and a lack of habitat.

It’s about so much more than politics and skin colour. In fact those things barely register with me.

This

Im not entirely sure what you mean but it sounds racist and stupid.

You think immigrants are here to service the middle class to the detriment of the working class?

So the soul of this country is leaving because British born people can't be slaves for livable wages?

Apologies if I have misunderstood.

People are allowed to dislike the speed and scale at which their culture and communities have changed. You can’t force people to like these things, you know.

This.
And chuck in a desperate shortage of affordable housing for those already here, inc. natives, and it’s no wonder people get pissed off.

Toastandbutterand · 27/09/2025 01:56

susiedaisy1912 · 27/09/2025 01:52

Nope
We can build up instead of across.

There are other solutions instead of demonising migrants.

But you are forcing things on people.

You are not trying to find a solution.

You are not helping.

You are just saying no. You matter more.

Who is making the money in this scenario?

Is it the migrants?

Themagicfarawaytreeismyfav · 27/09/2025 02:10

I hate the way my local area is changing so quickly. It is unrecognisable and the more the locals move out the worse it becomes. Rubbish and litter everywhere, all local businesses replaced with take aways and vape shops! Permission for a mosque was refused so now its an “ islamic education centre” that happens to be packed full at prayer times 🤷‍♀️. Causes traffic and parking chaos! If that makes you think im racist i really couldn’t give a shit!

kkloo · 27/09/2025 02:10

Completely disingenuous.

Being concerned about the levels of immigration is not racist.

And it really is completely pathetic to use such lazy arguments just to try to shut people up.

Are the citizens of this country, whatever their ethnicity, not allowed to be concerned about 1000s of undocumented young MEN of fighting age, coming in droves into the UK and being allowed to roam free wherever they wish?

Why are they being let in?

As it's completely disingenuous to say migrants are eating swans. Yet here we are.

Support racist idiots, and get treated like one.
