This is just not true.

Reform, the flag flyers and protesters are racists. All of this 'It's just the illegals we want gone.' is a lie to excuse their racism.

I was brought up Hindu. Some Hindus are brought up vegetarian, some aren't. I eat meat and enjoy it. I don't eat beef and pork. Halal slaughter doesn't bother me as I doubt any other slaughter is humane. The animal doesn't want to do. If you really care animal cruelty and want to ban something you'd ban meat and animal food products as well. I had some meat yesterday it was good. Very filling.

Fireworks for Diwali are fun. I did some a a few weeks ago with my family. It's part of our culture. We finish by 10:30pm even though we can legally go for longer. Lovely fireworks 🎇 that light up our garden and the night sky. I would care if the noise caused people to get heart attacks and die. But I don't care if someone's pet gets scared for a bit. And it's okay for the pets to feel scared on bonfire night and new year's but not other times?

One of our customs (known all over the UK) is to keep pets indoors on these occasions.

Diwali is not a UK celebration so pets are outdoors. Please do not abuse this fact.

no one cares about the foreign mythology you’re celebrating. You should not be setting off fireworks in your garden on random (and in the UK it is random and the majority of the public neither know or care about the dates) in your garden. It’s disgusting and very un British not to care about pain and distress to animals- as stated above we are a nation of animal lovers - this is the problem of multiculturalism- people thinking their culture tops the culture of the country in which they live, whether they’re first, second or third generation. Its lack of integration like your setting out which is the problem. And yes plenty of people such as ex forces with PTSD get traumatised by fireworks - they know what to expect round the times British people traditionally set off fireworks, but start bringing in minority myths it becomes impossible.

I think "racist" has become a way to preemptively silence dissent in the same way that "transphobic" has.
There are obviously issues with asylum and unskilled immigration, these are becoming glaringly obvious.
They can either be addressed or we can continue to call anybody with concerns racist.

We aren't going around causing destruction and shooting it into people's homes. We light a few in our garden for fun. A few sparklers, maybe a fountain and the occasional rocket. We legally can do them till 1am but we always stop at 10:30pm.

• Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs

Exactly. I keep wondering what has happened to some people brains that makes them argue in favour of letting more single men into our country when we know some of them are rapists, terrorists and murderers.

But we don’t find out which ones they are until it is too late and another person has been harmed . Not to mention the additional curtailment in the freedom of teenage girls who suffer the misfortune of living near one of the hundreds of asylum seeker hotels.

The government is now trying to move migrants out of hotels into HMOs even deeper in the community. At least one landlord has been made a billionaire from these government contract already.

I'm not super religious but the religious ones I know don't eat meat and think the whole all life is valuable thing. I can understand that. Then again for those of us that eat meat, the animal still doesn't want to die. Slaughterhouse aren't all that nice even if non-halal. Even dairy is cruel.

I do set of fireworks in my garden to celebrate Diwali. Do sparklers, fountains and an occasional rocket firework. We follow the law. Think we only did 1 rocket this year and we finish our festivities at 10:30.

I do not care if someone's pets and the local wildlife get scared for a bit. Lots of things will damage wildlife. Construction, infrastructure development. Wind turbines kill birds. Cars kill wildlife. In the grand scheme of things fireworks have a minimal ecological effect.

I do feel sorry for those who have PTSD and wish them well, but does that mean the vast majority (95% plus) of us who don't have PTSD have to restrict our celebrations?

Thank you. I don't go around and do it in the twilight hours. I finish at 10:30 and just have some fun celebrating what's supposed to be the "triumph of good over evil". I never use them to injure someone, we just light a few fireworks in our garden

Those of us who care about pets, ensure there are other distractions indoors to minimise stress.

Seeing as you are in England, don't you want to enjoy and take part in English ways and our customs.

My parents live in Spain and have adapted to everything Spanish. They love and respect the Spanish ways.

I am very well integrated thank you very much. I was just talking about why I'm against a near blanket ban on fireworks. I celebrate Diwali with my family and I am considerate to end festivities at 10:30pm and to follow all the firework laws for the day. It's a fun way for us to celebrate. I don't harass or damage my neighbours at all.

I already knew English before moving here. I don't just speak to Indians but I speak to a wide variety of people from all walks of life. My children have friends from races and backgrounds.

I do celebrate Christmas culturally (although there's no obligation to) and I interact with everyone in the community. My internet search tells me that the eco-impacts of Diwali and fireworks is miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

That's not at all what's going on in my brain.

I see Reform and many of its followers weaponising sexual violence against women to further their political agenda.

They have not advocated for tougher laws on sexual crime or acts of violence.

All they have talked about is the deportation of certain colours of men who commit these crimes. Good they should.

But the rhetoric is asylum seeker=violent offender. There is no bad apple, just a bad bunch. And that is what is frustrating and driving so many of us mad.

I want tougher sentences for ALL men. That is what would keep our women safe.

I want all perpetrators of sexual violence to know that Brits are tough on that type of crime. In the same way that we want people from other countries to know "we are not the food bank of the world" we should also want them to know "Brits do not tolerate sexual violence".

And it feels like no one is actually saying that because actually... well we don't want to ruin a white man's life if he's just made a little mistake. Her skirt was awful short after all and she had been drinking... she's got a reputation...

Yes, quite a few here. No chance of me buying earmuffs to wear in my own home! In any case, the cat doesn't like wearing them, don't think my ill late husband would have, either!

Horses find fireworks terrifying often and can bolt . At least on Nov 5th and New Year there is a warning.
