Sick of the lie 'It's just illegal immigrants people don't like.'

This is just not true.

Reform, the flag flyers and protesters are racists. All of this 'It's just the illegals we want gone.' is a lie to excuse their racism.

@GoodTimesNoodleSalad ''Christian ethics''.

I think your listing of Christian ethics is problematic.

As someone who was raised in the Catholic faith I decided that as an adult I want nothing to do with antiquated religious views that involve rejecting contraception and abortion, the demonisation of gay people and a support for misogynist and sexist attitudes.

Less and less people in the UK regularly go to church anyway.

There is also the issue that you are suggesting by pushing ''christian values'' as a core of British society tthat if you are Jewish, muslim or follow any other religion other than christianity your values are not truly ''British'' which is a very divisive and silly concept....

I think it's a bit more nuanced than that. This country is a Christian country in that the C of E is the established Church. And this country is a very old country and it's laws have evolved in a time where most people were practising Christians. Not Muslims for example. So we don't have sharia law which is based on religious law. Church and State are seperate. We are allowed to drink alcohol. Women can marry non Christians. We don't have certain punishments. Women can leave their heads uncovered..

How much about Islam do you actually know? Muslims are not a homogenous mass, much like Christians aren't.

There's nothing wrong with a country looking after it's own people. It's immoral to do otherwise.

The thing is it doesn't look after its citizens, immigration or no immigration.

Bluelenses · 27/09/2025 14:27

Dogsandhens · 27/09/2025 14:08

I don't understand what you mean? Just the meaning of the sentence. Pls can you clarify?

If you're worrying about there being enough careworkers, firstly I think they will be one of those jobs where immigrants will be allowed in according to need, notwithstanding the low wages.

But I do have a problem with this always being cited as an example of why we need more immigration being because immigrants will do the jobs UK citizens won't. And we can therefore also pay them low wages. It's as if we are importing a sub class of people to carry out the crap jobs and it's all a bit too Dubai for me. Better pay a decent wage. Unemployment is rising in the UK due to Rachel Reeves attack on businesses and workers with the rise in ENI and so people will probably.be more inclined to take care jobs in future.

In one industry - care work - dependent on a vulnerable demographic (the elderly and infirm) being looked after? Who is going to fill the 130,000 vacancies @Dogsandhens ?

The UK government doesn't care about looking after its citizens. It cares about giving filthy rich, immoral slimebags tax breaks so us peasants have the benefit of the 'trickle down' effect of capitalism, AKA scraps. Get real!

Well of course they arent. But as far as I understand (so correct me if I'm wrong) to be a Muslim is a way of life and you need to follow sharia law. Which means you can't do certain things like eat pork, drink alcohol and a woman cannot marry a non Muslim, for example.

And also 130,000 is a drop in the ocean of overall immigration numbers.

Not all muslims follow it. But rather be a faithful follower than a right wing plastic Christian bigot, eh?

I think if you are a Muslim you are very careful to follow the rules? That's a little dismissive of you. In any event if you are a Muslim you presumably have to follow the rules! It's not an ethnicity remember!

The fact is that there are countries such as Poland where you can have a healthy conversation about immigration and border control without being called a racist, Where the government listens to its citizens concerns.

Ah yes, Poland, which has a far-right, populist government.

Is that really what you want for the UK, @Booksaresick ?

A simple google search would have spared you embarrassment. Try election 2023 and Donald Tusk.

EmeraldRoulette · 27/09/2025 14:37

Chiseltip · 27/09/2025 13:33

Immigration is just a red herring. It's not an issue. Remember way back around 2008, when none of us were prepared to "lower ourselves" by working in restaurants or care homes?

We thought it was alot more sporting to have immigrants to do that dirty work!

Didn't have problem when the economy was sloshing with money did we?

Now that we fucked ourselves over with Brexit. Now that our supermarket shelves are literally empty. Now that we passed laws which have made rent unaffordable and locked an entire generation out of the housing market. Now we are suddenly worried about "all them illegals coming over here, stealing our jobs." !

It's pathetic really.

And considering our history of invading other countries and taking everything from the people who lived there. The current cries of "nationalism" seem even more pathetic.

Who is this we that you're referring to?

A lot of us weren't happy about it at the time

I think that goes back to 2003 with Tony Blair and freedom of movement.

and speak for yourself with not being prepared to lower ourselves. I'm sure there are many posters here who have done a range of jobs over their lifetime and have full respect for both the jobs and the people who do them.

Who? Are the government recruiting for UK citizens to do the job? Youth unemployment is at an all time high .. no one wants to do the job, but immigrants will. The male workers at my local care home are all non-white immigrants, so your point re asylum seekers refusing to do it is invalid. Proportionately, the employment rate is higher and unemployment benefit rate lower for migrants than UK born citizens.

And so called Christians arent careful to follow the rules of their faith.. call themselves Christians all the same because Jesus is their salvation regardless of them being bigots/sinners, etc all. The hypocrisy to criticise other religions, such as Islam, when Christianity has its pitfalls too. Just look at the level of right wing extremism in the US for example.

I'm not sure what your point is about Islam? No one is forcing you to convert.

I wrote earlier a post that answered your question. You don't have to agree obviously. But I suspect that will be what happens. Immigrants allowed in despite not reaching the wage threshold as they are required jobs. Adding to the subclass of immigrant workers who do the "nasty" jobs. Like Dubai. Which is what you appear to be advocating for.

And the rise in unemployment especially amoung young people due to the rise in the employers NI will mean more people here who want to work will do those sorts of jobs.

I think you've missed the point I was making.

The law in the UK was made over 1000 years by a Christian country (it's only in the last 50 years or so that Church attendance has decreased significantly). Unlike laws in say Saudi which are.made in a Muslim country which has sharia law..

I'm not advocating for it. It is simply the reality of it. By the time immigrants or asylum seekers arrive, they have been through worse/far worse hardships than having to change an adult nappy!

Why cant employers pay young employees NI? Is it because big corp don't pay tax and share? Why could it be, do you think? Are they just greedy? Or is them bloody forinners again?

Of course they do; many people sympathise with others who have to put themselves in dangerous situations to survive. What a bizarre statement.

Oh, and that post got deleted because it’s racist. Just so you’re clear.

They are trying to escape France, last time I checked that wasn’t a dangerous country

BundleBoogie · 27/09/2025 14:49

The more useful stat would be what percentage of immigrants commit those crimes and is it above the national average. Useful to know as it indicates a need for what education is needed.

Yes. The government have been very slow to provide these figures.

Where they have been provided in other European countries, immigrant men from certain countries commit a large number of crimes disproportionate to their numbers.

Farage and the Brexit Brigade caused this mess. Look back to the campaign.. at all the empty promises and false narratives.

Reform are nothing but a bunch of rabble-rousers and stand for nothing.
