Really embarrassing poo question

l can't believe l'm typing this but l am! Full disclosure, l have a GP appointment next Thursday so l'm doing the right thing but just wondered if anyone at all had ever had problems getting themselves clean after a bowel movement??
l open my bowels, use either wet wipes or that Wype gel and 'think' l'm clean. I then go for a wee a little while later and it's like l've never wiped at all! I then have to go through the whole palaver and this can happen 2 or 3 times. It never used to happen so something has changed, although no clue what! I'm in my early 60's sometime constipated so l take Movicol which makes it softer, otherwise l'm at a loss to explain it, hence the GP appointment. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same? Sorry if this is TMI! But thanks anyone in advance!

I visited my GP with exactly the same issue. Its always worse if I need to poop more than once. Annoyingly, this is often on holiday when your diet may be different. I was sent for a colonoscopy to make sure nothing sinister going on cancer wise in the rectum /anal area. The conclusion was that a small external haemorrhoid was causing some poop to get trapped and then it escapes later after you move around more. Then the haemorrhoid with poop on it gets irritated , can bleed and feels itchy and sore. As soon as it happens, I clean again well and use a haemorrhoid cream in the area and that stops it happening again that day and stops it bleeding pretty much immediately. The best way to manage it is to make sure you check "both ends" after you first visit for a wee after a poo.

Balneol changes my life!! I had the same problems due to polyps. I tried everything but this lotion was the only thing that works for me. It's expensive on Amazon but I don't care. Good luck ❤️.

I had the same issue, I suffer from mild IBS. My poo routine now is always use a squatty potty, pump baby lotion on toilet paper before wiping, then jump in the shower for either a very localised wash (if not in the a.m.) or my usual morning shower (if it's all gone according to plan!)

It sounds like the body wants to rid the waste but is struggling. Piles won’t help with the mess but shouldn’t create the constipation. There are some great herbal/ oil tinctures on the market to clear up piles of you have them, however I’d suggest more fibre, but of the dry sweeping kind, go for loads of kale and rye and lindseed. Try not to eat anything processed (except for some rye bread, but even that should be rye only - no wheat). Good luck

Since I hit menopause ()not sure if this has anything to do with it or not) this has been a problem for me too. I go through tons of toilet paper & always have a red, itchy backside. I go to the loo fine it's just I can never seem to get everything clean with just a couple of wipes. When I think it's completely clean I can go back a while later & there's small marks on my underwear.

Not sure if anyone has the same problem but I find that having fibre such as all bran, weetabix etc really irritates my bumhole and makes it sore. I wipe and can see the little grains of fibre. I know I should eat more fibre but then it seems to cause more problems than it solves! I find those Nakd cocoa and orange bars are really good for constipation, Lidl have their own version too. It’s mainly just dried fruit

Not up to UK code. Don't use. You'll be drinking poo water

Nonsense. I have one. Screws onto mono tap at the sink, switches the water from the tap to the hose, scoosh scoosh scoosh, wipe wipe, flush, all done. Most satisfactory. It's exactly what this lady needs.

Stillwater001 · 07/10/2025 10:37

You may want to research those wet wipes and other products because they can cause irritation which can lead to all sorts of other problems in that area. Shower head is a good final clean after regular paper.

Edited

But in that form it is illegal. Look up WRAS rules for bidets.

"Nonsense. I have one."

Guess there's plenty of people who have scant regard for water regulations meant for the benefit of all...
