So step 1 RFK Jr announces a cause. Sales drop of a cheap drug, everyone relieved that he and Donald have found the cause.

Step 2. A cure is announced. Leucovorin, also known as folinic acid 'can help' alleviate matters.

Leucovorin is generally used is often given with 5FU to treat cancers of the colon and rectum and other parts of the digestive system. It is used to make chemotherapy work better, or to reduce its side effects.

Not quite sure how it will help neurodiversity problems? But what do I know. RFK jr is an expert in these matters! (I've just spotted Lord Lucan collecting trollies at Aldi.)

So many, worried about their children will buy the stuff. Sales and prices will go up. (Penalising those who really need it)

It'll be interesting to see the business links between Galaxo Smith Kline who make it, RFK jr, MAGA, Trump etc etc.

Folinic acid (calcium folinate or leucovorin)

FFS.

My sons severely autistic and I had a horrendous toothache around the 11/12 week mark of pregnancy and took paracetamol for days before I could get to an emergency dentist.
Then I took antibiotics for the infection.

I actually spoke to my child paediatrician a few months ago and she gave me the green light to go ahead and buy this from abroad to use.

I suspect that in that era, when I was also at primary school, several factors applied to give the impression that things "weren't that bad".

Primarily, there were "special schools" where the most challenging were educated. Additionally there were fewer dual income households, and wider family tended to be "the village" that helped raise a child who might not make it into education or qualify for institutionalisation.

Those with challenges such as autism that did get into mainstream education were also subject to very different parenting and teaching styles than are considered best practise today. They learned by fear and the slipper or cane to conform. Bullying would also have been commonplace.

At secondary level kids who weren't performing educationally could be sidelined with little oversight. There wasn't the emphasis on staying in education and getting good grades and going to Uni that there is now. There was the option of leaving at 16 and going to work, which for some probably gave them the lifeline they needed to get out of the rigid education system of the time.

The argument that autism has increased, and remember it's a spectrum, can't be definitively quantified because it was always there, in the form of the odd kid, the eccentric family, etc.

We now live in a world where paradoxically diversity is championed, yet also seen as a problem to be solved, because the latter feeds the capitalist machine. Which is no doubt at the root of Trumps ramblings yesterday, plus the massaging of his saviour complex ego.

We're conditioned to live in a world that moves fast in every direction, with simple solutions to complex issues, some of which don't need to be issues at all if approached with a bit of common sense and compassion.

What Teump has done is incredibly dangerous and regressive and could well lead to maternal deaths, autistic children being used as guinea pigs and traumatised if new "treatments" don't work for them, and tried and tested vaccine programmes being dismantled causing increases in diseases that have been largely controlled for decades. Not to mention the incredibly unfair and unnecessary psychological torment of making women feel responsible for their children's issues without any definitive evidence that they are.

I'm absolutely disgusted and raging at the whole thing and the day can't come soo enough when Trump is ousted from office one way or another.

There are still special school, s my sons been going to one since reception and is in year 11 now.

I thought he was great in congress.

Another one who is really interesting is Aaron Siri. So intelligent, focused on truth and speaking for the vaccine injured. These are very brave people. Going against the narrative can be quite dangerous.

Nothing very brave in going with the narrative of this administration, surely?

You're not really answering questions.

So, how do you feel about all the grants and funding he's cancelled? How do you feel about the curtailing of cancer research? What's the rationale for that?

What have you seen so far, that makes you believe there will be real studies, properly conducted?

What, specifically, about his testimony did you think was great?

I probably trust Trump a little bit more than I trust big pharma.

Although I am still reeling from watching the film Dark Waters about the 40 odd year fight to prove that Teflon causes birth defects and cancer. OK, that was DuPont, a chemical company but I bet they have a similar attitude

sittingonabeach · 23/09/2025 11:03

@x2boys there aren't enough special schools though. I was speaking to someone who works in one, they get over 100 consults for each place. There aren't 99 places in other special schools for those that don't get into her school.

I appreciate that and am glad that there are still opportunities for those who need that supporting to get it ❤️‍🔥

However, services have been cut dramatically in every direction, and it is much harder for many to access.

Definitely, almost every intelligent adult knows that big pharma doesn't have anyone other than their own interests at heart, but they still get defended.

I can't bear to look at that vile excuse of a man and the crap he spouts.

How the hell people voted for him again is just nuts...

In my LA all the special schools ( we have four) have doubled in capacity over the the past 10 /15 years due to growing needs
We also have several autism hubs.

This is such dangerous misinformation, coming from the person who said to drink bleach to cure Covid.
The problem is that, even when clearly debunked, this information is still out there and will cause many to panic.

Bumblebee72 · 23/09/2025 11:17

Everytime I hear Trump mention this I just think, this is the same man who advised you to drink bleach to cure COVID.

YourBrickTiger · 23/09/2025 11:17

When I was a kid, right through to before Trump was reelected, I thought America was the greatest place in the world. I really resented that I wasn't born there and every chance I had, I would visit. I still love the place, but I am so sad seeing what is happening to it - what is being allowed to happen to it. I despair of those who think having this would be Hitler in power is a good idea and that he is a wonderful man. It all feels very North Korea with a certain amount of the population being fed a certain message. The women in particular make me want to pull my own hair out in their defence of a man who has openly said he can 'grab any woman by the pussy'. On what planet do they think this is ok?

What was actually said:

“I see that disinfectant, it knocks it (the novel coronavirus) out in a minute. One minute. Is there a way we could do something like that, by injection inside (the body)?”, Trump asked medical advisers at the White House during the Coronavirus Task Force daily briefing on Thursday, April 23, 2020

Yes. He is saying that autism is caused by the use of paracetamol in pregnancy. He also seemed to be saying that people shouldn't give paracetamol to small children. And suggesting that vaccines may also play a part.

And he claims that there is no autism in the Amish community or in Cuba.

Or maybe they just don’t test anyone for autism

I know for a fact that I didn’t take any painkillers when I was pregnant with either dd or DS. That didn’t stop them from both having ASD
I know my mother didn’t take painkillers when she was pregnant. Prior to that I don’t think this type of painkiller was available. So how does that work.

This is like saying that autism is caused by eating prawn cocktail crisps

Then saying the Amish and Cubans don’t have Autism because they don’t eat Prawn Cocktail Crisps

But far fewer children go to them. There has been a big push towards mainstream inclusion in the last few decades, meaning a lot of children who would have gone to a special school when I was younger don't now.

Ablondiebutagoody · 22/09/2025 22:17

Because the Democrats put up a senile old man and then tried to gaslight the American people that everything was fine.

But this guy is also senile, so how did he get elected? Republicans must be better at gaslighting then.

JustSawJohnny · 23/09/2025 11:21

Clearly he learned nothing from the covid 'injecting bleach' fiasco.

He really is the most giant of bell ends.

Trump is a prick. What an absolute moron to go on tv and spout that bollocks.

But then this is the man that said disinfectant would cure covid.

Yep, and the American public voted him back into office.

It defies all logic.

I can imagine that the Amish lifestyle - no crowded environments, lots of familiarity and routine, more time outdoors etc would be more supportive of the nervous system and therefore easier on people with autism than our fast paced, busy and indoor lifestyles.
