I have a very good friend who is a Republican and Trump voter. I love her to bits and she is one of the, if not the, kindest person I know. We get on so well, until the subject of politics comes up. I was talking to her last night and she supported Charlie Kirk. Said she has become undone by those who are celebrating his death. I didn't know what to say. I find it so disturbing that anyone could support that man's values. I'm best not getting into it with her.

I saw a very interesting Tiktok from a woman who had the same experience with a relative. But they went on to show each other what their social media feeds had shown them of Charlie Kirk. The relative had only seen the positive, Christian values, family man, honest and open debate type stuff and the Tiktokker had only seen the racism, misogyny, etc. They showed each other their videos and the relative was appalled. Because we have individualised media, we can't have these conversations from a place of assuming we all have the same info.

I feel like he gets out of bed in the morning and just says the first thing that comes into his stupid fat head. The way he speaks, the way he expresses himself, it's cringeworthy. A world leader needs to speak like a world leader. It's so embarrassing. Surely it can't go on for the next 4 years?

My husband reckons he just repeats the last thing he's heard. It's why he'll flip flop all the time - after meeting Putin, he shares his talking points, after meeting European leaders he shares theirs and is warning Putin. So it's the people he listens to most that are truly the ones in power.

Howmanycatsistoomany · 23/09/2025 09:54

If there's anything good about this, it's that the antivaxxers must be absolutely fucking livid with RFK Jr.

We will only have to wait and see, I guess. The corruption in the government in the US and in the pharmaceutical industry and supposed government bodies is overwhelming. This is a very small chink in that system, which has been designed to keep profits high and with no care given as to the health of the population. I welcome anything that may give some more information to the public to empower them to have better health.

You do know that he personally makes millions by finding people to sue vaccine manufacturers, right? And he's not giving those millions away to charity.

You clearly have zero idea
of the reality of testing of pharmaceutical
products, I’m embarrassed for you even reading this.

Thank you. You are so kind lol.

I'm looking forward to learning more. It will be good to have more information over the coming months on environmental, medicinal etc causes of ill health in children.

there is a huge correlation between older fathers and children being diagnosed with autism.

Could be because autistic fathers may take longer to find a partner, could be because older sperm is genetically defective. Either way, guess we'd better sterilise all these dirty old men having relationships with younger women (Trump, RFK, Musk)

It also follows through on the idea that women become incubators as soon as they get pregnant

he said why would you take paracetamol when you don’t have to - well how about it’s one of the few painkillers you can take - does he want women in pain or there being other health conditions because of fevers etc

i had a chest infection when pregnant and took antibiotics and paracetamol. I feel terrible taking them at the time and even now I wonder if my son’s troubles are my fault. Every time I hear the headline it makes me feel sick

Don't be worried.
You were very unwell during pregnancy - it happens and you needed treatment. Without treatment you could have died, untreated chest infection your oxygen levels will be low not good for baby, fever in mother not good for baby.
Autism existed before paracetamol (kids were just locked away in institutions at the slightest sign of being different) - I had some older male relatives who would now be diagnosed as autistic.

Doesn't RFK refute germ theory, he believes in miasma as main diseae cause instead?

So [some germ] only hurts you if you've got Vit X deficiency because you were exposed to some chemical ... the idea is that germs aren't a big deal, but some individuals are only vulnerable because of pollution. That's the most sophisticated version of miasma theory.

I wonder if RFK's kids or grandkids were vaccinated.

This is amusing. Swimming in poo is fine, folks, keeps you strong.

Miasma?! Good grief, is he a plague doctor from the Middle Ages?

(well no, he’s not any sort of doctor, obviously. Miasma, Christ. Just stuff a mask full of lavender, folks and you’ll be fine.)

Yes this is what angers me so much. That this is just an optional drug that women take needlessly for a silly little headache or something. And as you say, that pregnant women are just that - pregnant - and nothing else. Not suffering from pre-existing painful conditions or catching bugs like everyone else, bugs which are more dangerous for them and their unborn child.

Please please don’t question what you took. Taking meds for infection and probably fever would have been absolutely the right thing to do, those things are dangerous left unchecked. God the man is vile. This is the same man who said we should drink bleach remember.

She did win the popular vote, to be fair.

When I was in school in Ireland in the '70s, children who didn't fit in were dismissed as being "slow". Others had behavioural issues. There were several children like that in my class. There were also "special" schools for more severe cases. At the time I only ever heard of autism when it was extremely severe, and accompanied by learning difficulties.

I also grew up in the 70s and there were indeed children that were what you call slow - lower intellect. There were also children who were introverted, low on social skills, the ones we called odd and those with behavioural issues. But they all managed to attend school. I went to a very big school and literally no one ever had a meltdown down or was unable to attend because the environment was too challenging. The severity of autism has changed if not the absolute numbers.

RealPerson · 23/09/2025 10:10

oneoneone · 23/09/2025 10:15

MySweetMaggie · 23/09/2025 09:21

I don't want anyone's children exposed to anything or risking anything. I am looking forward to seeing the results of the scientific studies into causes of autism. However they do those studies I'm sure will be ethical and interesting. I have never been vaccinated for measles, nobody was when I was young, so the majority of us had it at a young age. I'm not saying that's good or bad, just a fact. I'm not saying anyone should have it now, or be exposed to it.

You seem to be trying to accuse me of things or get a gotcha with me. It's strange. I look forward to finding out more about the causes of autism via scientific study. That seems sensible to me.....to you it doesn't. Ok.

I'm curious, given your repetition on this thread, if you've kept up with the actual news about his actions as HHS Secretary? Have you kept up with the studies that have been cancelled and de-funded? The personnel changes? The quality of the people with whom he has surrounded himself and put into key positions?

Because, genuinely, if you have, I can't begin to understand your apparent faith that they have any interest in a deep dive, clinical study, or have any intention or interest in conducting one.

And you keep saying mainstream media has a narrative about him. With the exception of his brief time leading the cleanup of the Hudson River, he has done nothing praiseworthy in his life, and is now looking the other way while the administration in which he serves weakens every environmental protection that his earlier work was based on promoting.

I would suggest you find the videos of his recent testimony to congress. There are several sessions. He is unprepared, not coherent, not intelligent and blatantly not truthful. His words and actions speak for themselves.

Adding - you keep saying 'in the coming months'. Do you have any understanding of how long it would take to conduct these clinical studies? How do you feel about his cuts to cancer research, including pediatric brain cancer?

Brilliant - I have also heard that AW and RFK are making big money out of searching for "alleged victims". AW drives a Porsche. RFK had some worm in his head and has had some brain removed.

Interesting how they are suggesting MMR is the problem - AW original discredited paper is based on the single measles vaccine.

If Trump, RFK etc. want to do some studies on that then they can knock themselves out. Announcing that there is or might be a link between autism and paracetmol - the most commonly taken painkiller during pregnancy - first is irresponsible.

Deliberately not giving children vaccines for diseases which can kill them or spread to people who cannot be vaccinated for reasons of age/immune compromisation etc. would be irresponsible.

ColdLittleHeart · 23/09/2025 10:17

I thought it’s widely believed that Barron Trump has Autism?
He probably wants to be able to blame Melania for that. Being the narcissist that he is, he can’t possibly comprehend that it may have had something do with his genetics.

ColdSalads · 23/09/2025 10:18

"Autism is a condition in a state of slow flux. In 2021, a study found a 787% rise in the number of diagnoses between 1998 and 2018 in the UK"

Shouldn't we all be screaming and demanding a real answer to the horrific rise in autism?

Why aren't we?

x2boys · 23/09/2025 10:19

The man's a Buffoon, he thought covid could be cured by injecting bleach
I honestly don't know why people are taking any notice of him.

sittingonabeach · 23/09/2025 10:20

@Hellohelga school can be a much noisier, over stimulating environment than it used to be. Colourful displays, group work, noisier classrooms, no separate desks. The way lessons are taught. Curriculum overload.

Did those children who were 'slow' get exams, achieve their full potential, or were they just left to get on with it? The meltdown children probably didn't make it to mainstream, either special school (when there more of them) or no school.

For people who think ND is now over-diagnosed and there was “no problem 20 years ago” etc. I suggest you go look at the Prison service … prisons are rammed packed full of people who were disenfranchised from Education, thrown out of school because the school couldn’t cope, unable to keep a job, unable to regulate emotion etc

Maybe if a few of these people had been properly assessed, and supported, we might have a few less people in prison.

I’m not saying ever prisoner is, but under-diagnosis did not mean that the needs did not exist, it meant that they were badly managed.

Are you making a correlation between autism and ending up in prison?

I look forward to al the big Pharma companies suing the shit out of Trump for this absolute batshit nonsense. The legal potential for all this is very significant, how did his team allow this?

They won't though bc they are too scared of him.

He is behaving like a dictator and no-one seems to care.
