Farage promises to deport people with ILR

1000 replies

Acidburn · 22/09/2025 12:21

Posting in AIBU for traffic.
Nigel Farage stated he would deport anyone with existing indefinite leave to remain. We are talking about millions of people.
This terrifying. If people live here, work here, have kids and mortgages - where are they supposed to go?

immigrants already have reduced access to benefits.
you need 5 years on work visa with no benefits to get to ILR. You think that someone with a well paid job will immediately quit and get on UC once they get an ILR? Please 🤣

ruffler45 · 22/09/2025 17:02

He is a politicain and nothing he says is legally binding....😂

Caring roles will become more attractive as the pay will be higher. Plus benefits will be slashed thus also encouraging people to take jobs.

Pay in caring roles will be higher.

That's a very definite statement. Tell us - when is this coming into effect, who is making it happen and to what level will caring pay rise? Most importantly, please provide the figures that definitely show that current unemployed don't bother to look for work because JSA is "too high".

Where are you that carers for the elderly isn’t facing issues?

I'm in the EU, so we have the benefit of a potential workforce of half a billion people, not even counting non European immigrants (of which there are also many).

Notonthestairs · 22/09/2025 17:06

I'd like to see better pay for social care but how are we going to fund it?

Council budgets have been stretched since the central funding cuts 2010 onwards. They have less central funding and increased statutory responsibilities.
Or are people arguing to pay more in council tax?

I presume that means that we'll all be paying more for care if we need it. Plus higher taxes to fund the care of those who can't pay for themselves?

Smilingintherain · 22/09/2025 16:30

I heard carer salaries would increase. There would still be carers just not state funded ones.

Carers can still apply now before anything is law

Who would become a doctor or a nurse if carers are going to be on 60 grand a year?

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 17:07

The government is currently spending over £18,000 per person in the UK. Something has to give.

SuffolkSun · 22/09/2025 17:07

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 16:48

@SuffolkSun it is incorrect to say that non UK / Ireland nationals can’t claim any benefits unless they’ve been legally resident in the UK for at least 5 years.

Is it?

You'll be able to demonstrate your assertion. Right? Link please, to the UK government agency source you got it from.

Care worker pay will rise because all will be for the best in this best of all possible Reform worlds. There will be no problems, everything will be sorted out, we can pretend climate change isn't happening, there will be no tax and plenty of services, and really, I don't know why anyone is questioning any of this.

Do we so get unicorns with Reform "policy"? Or was it just for Brex(sh)it? 🙂

Here are some more facts:

15% of UC claims are by non UK/Ireland passport holders. Of these claims 70% (10.4% of total UC claims) are by EU nationals with settled status. They are "immigrants" - but that word tells you nothing about how long the individuals have lived in the UK nor what they have been doing.

40% of all UC claims are by people in work. Their claim tells you nothing about what work they may previously have done, nor how much tax they have cumulatively paid.

Somewhere around 48% of the Welfare budget goes on pensions; that proportion will rise to well over 50% in the next few years. The most obvious way to "massively reduce" the budget is by cutting pensions. Wouldn't you agree?

No if not agree. People who claim pension have paid into the UK system for 35 years? Have the immigrants paid in the same amount in total?

  1. It is made up shite that won't happen
  2. I don't know why this would even appeal to the most steadfast racists out there
  3. It is made up shite that won't happen and our media could be a lot more clear on that

Made up rubbish which will never happen. Much like the Tories scheme and Labours one out and a thousand in daily scheme. Make that none out. It's a farce.

zoemum2006 · 22/09/2025 17:09

What's really funny is that my dad and my brother have indefinite leave to remain. But they are Trump supporting Americans who supported Brexit.

I know Farage wouldn't have meant my white family but this just shows what an actual policy moron he is.

spoonbillstretford · 22/09/2025 16:06

What do you think Universal Credit is for, out of interest? Do you think it's only for people who don't work?

No I'm quite aware many people who only work a few part time hours or are on low pay claim it.

Yes but which country doesn’t have aging population issues? Can you say where?

theickisrealurgh · 22/09/2025 17:13

I believe what he says will gain reform numerous votes. I have neighbour who are already making plans to leave the UK and return home.

@BlazenWeights

Except that I came here as a skilled migrant in a shortage occupation at a time that “you” born here were desperate for my skills, qualifications and experience.

What job do you do @BlazenWeights ?

Yeah I was worried my sarcasm would be lost in my poor writing.

caringcarer · 22/09/2025 17:17

HelpMeUnpickThis · 22/09/2025 12:46

@Friendlygingercat

Did you read my post?

There should be a way to differentiate between non contributors and contributors.

What about the British people who are not contributors? Let’s have a chat about that. But you dont want to and you wont.

Most visa categories for skilled migrant visas have loads of restrictions about access to benefits etc.

Why don’t you focus on the numbers of British born people who dont work when they can? If you did it would be a little less racist.

That is a cometely different debate. This is focusing in immigration.

AzurePanda · 22/09/2025 17:17

@SuffolkSun exceptions include those granted refugee status, qualifying EEA nationals, Commonwealth citizens with right to abode, Ukrainian nationals under various schemes, primary carers of EEA children, permanently incapacitated EEA workers and those with pending asylum claims.

Well, as one of the group, I'd certainly rather it went to them than to any of the Yaxley-Lennon mob that clogged the streets of my (adopted) city recently.

I’m a British net contributor, and I’d rather pay for migrants than racists, given the choice.

But if we can find a way of deporting the racists, I'm all in.

The next move would be to deport British born people whose parents were not British born. Insane.

Indeed.

He's an idiot with no idea about how to actually run a country.
