Charlie Kirks wife forgives the killer

To people who said her husband was hateful and what they preached was hateful, she just forgave the killer, as God would. Powerful speech.

The messed up young man who thought shooting man he didn't like was the answer, will go to prison and no longer be with his boyfriend. Erika Kirk no longer has her husband and her children have list their father.

Don’t think I have seen anyone think it was right he was murdered. But him being murdered doesn’t change the fact he had some pretty awful views.

Once again, this does not seem in any way to be suitable for the AIBU forum.

But I will just add that whatever she is saying now, in her grand-standing show, with her comparing herself to God, as you indicate - I can also tell you that in her first speech, last week, the words and tone were quite threatening - not toward the shooter, but toward all Democrats/Liberals.

Surely the point the poster was making is that anything his wife does, good, bad or indifferent, does not posthumously alter what her husband did.

So the premise of "for those of you who said x about him, his wife doing Y proves you wrong" is fundamentally flawed as the two are not linked.

Someone could logically say he was hateful and preached hate and be correct from a logical consistency POV and his wife could be the ultimate example of b forgiveness. One does not preclude the other.

So the issue is with your setup of "her forgiveness proves you wrong" rather than people arguing that she can't be forgiving

People were saying that his movement was hateful, they were all hateful. She has shown she wasn't. I have seen her husband's speeches, not just read the clips, people have shared of bits of them. I don't agree with what he says but I cannot see how that deserves being killed or how cheering at his killing makes anything better.

She has shown she isn't hateful. That was my point, she's shown forgiveness in the face of sheer horror.

He WAS hateful. Doesn't make it right that he was murdered, but he was genuinely an extremist with vile views.

Both can be true at the same time. Hope that helps.

How many videos of Charlie's did you ever watch? The only way someone could equate what Charlie said as hateful is if they simply didn't agree with what he said. Such people confuse telling the truth with hate, which is actually the opposite of what it is: telling the truth when people will hate you for it is actually love. That's what CK sacrificed himself for, so that people like you who would hate him could hear the truth.

Face the truth.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 22/09/2025 00:07

Pity that Trump is hijacking all the love and light to make one of his rambling and frankly hate filled speeches.

No need to be offensive but hey you do you.

You've also missed my point but there you go, no name calling from me.

My main point is: wow, after losing her husband to a very public killing, she forgives the killer. That's all. Her speech was from the heart. You may not listen, thats up to you. Many will comment, as I suspect you have, without actually listening to her.

His first comment was he doesn't agree with her forgiving the killer. Yes, he's rambling on.

His murder has really brought home to me that so many seem to accept murder as acceptable/understandable.
I read an article which explained his murder in terms of the rise of fascism and it was Kirk who was described as the fascist not the murderer. We're living in very strange times.

It's so true. And all of those who will wrongly claim he was a fascist seem to not know that Charlie called for the opposite of fascism, he was all about open dialogue and debate.

But you didn't frame it as his movement, it we are all, or all Republicans are hateful.

You said for people who said he was hateful. It's a faulty premise. Nothing his wife does after his death can make him more or less hateful.

In the same way I can't say that his wife's turning point USA branded message last week after his death proves that something he said 2 years ago is now objectively hateful and disingenuous and that it proves it was all a facade to profit off fundamentist Christian fear.

So you can't set up a combative "debate me" premise of "how stupid do you all feel now for saying this" and then retreat to the safety of "all I'm saying is people called her hateful and look at her forgiveness" when posters engage with the premise you elected to put forward.

JulianFawcettMP · 22/09/2025 00:12

@Calmomiletea forcing a woman to carry and birth the product of rape is, in my opinion, hateful. To expect that of your own daughter defies belief but he was very clear that is how he felt.

Face the truth (whatever that means)

Aibu is a range if topics and views and discussion points. You are free to comment or pass by as you wish.

To me her speech and forgiveness was noteworthy, to others it it's not.

Define this "truth" of which you speak.

So, how many videos of Charlie's have you actually watched? I'll repeat my question to each and every one who claims he was hateful.

If you want to know what truth is read the Bible.

LancashireButterPie · 22/09/2025 00:14

Hmm, Maybe her marketing team advised her that her first speech, declaring retribution, wasn't such a great look.
This is a big step in the right direction.

I hope she now campaigns for an end to guns, the acceptance of those with alternative lifestyles (love they neighbour as thyself) and an end to the death penalty (Let he who is without sin cast the first stone).

So there is rank hypocrisy in the "movement" plain to see. If they are all on the side of "Christianity" as the foundation of US values, should he not be following her lead and also preaching forgiveness? Shows a typical lack of respect towards such an important and revered woman, don't you think?

Edited

OK, I apologise for not framing it correctly. Will that help? I did hear posters call the whole organisation hateful, she is part of that organisation and has shown forgiveness. I've never called anyone stupid or been rude to anyone.

Face the truth.

You're presuming that what he said was truth.

You're setting up a false premise to equate those who disagree with him as disagreeing with the truth.

He was hateful, I watched many of his videos, he perpetuated many falsehoods.

None of that justifies his murder or diminishes the wrong the killer perpetrated
