Yes and you’re not going to get hypothermia when your house is 13 degrees!!!

sure thing.

I don’t think l ever said l was though🤨

Id have the bloody heating on though.

l’m that poster. All the women l worked with were as cold as me except one

Feeling colder when the air temperature lowers is a perfectly normal response - cold hands, warm heart and all that. Obviously if it's extreme/painful then it could be something like Raynaud's - a recognised condition that doesn't mean we're 'not normal'. 🙃

Chatterboxy · 21/09/2025 22:32

No heating on yet, but I’ve lit some candles tonight, made us cosy & warm.

Choclabratwatowner88 · 21/09/2025 22:33

Jeez heating… I’ve just the dog out in shorts and a tshirt… my house is still saying 18 degrees. We don’t put the heating on here unless the house goes below 14. Hoodies and blankets are used before it gets to that point.

I put mine on today for first time..but l came home from Greece two days ago where it was 33 degrees... l pay monthly .. the same amount all year round.. so im always in credit by time Autumn/ winter.. so l can afford to have it on whenever... plus l became an OAP last year.. missed out on the fuel allowance...but will receive it this year.
But I'll also take an holiday to Lanzarote/ Fueterventura for some hot weather too in November and February.

Doesn’t seem like you need the winter fuel allowance.

And perhaps this is the reason the winter fuel allowance needs to be paid only to people who need the financial help?

Jeez...we all live in different places, and it's definitely not shorts weather where we are.

Dreamhigh · 21/09/2025 22:35

I wanted to put the heating on but dd and dh say it's not cold. So I compromised and put on the small blow heater in the room I'm in.

BebbanburgIsMine · 21/09/2025 22:35

After many years of living in an absolutely freezing house, where the temperature inside was the same as outside, so quite often at a minus, especially in my bedroom which had no heating for rather a long time, I am finally able to have my heating on when I want it, I don’t have it on all day, every day, but if I feel cold I’ll put it on for a few hours.

I have a pre-payment meter so no huge bills, I hope never to have to live in a cold house again!

It was a miserable existence.

tellmesomethingtrue · 21/09/2025 22:37

We’ve had the doors open all day. It’s been lovely.

Tastaturen · 21/09/2025 22:38

Why are so many people not reading OPs question properly?

Not in North Yorkshire. Beautiful sunny day, blue skies... but only 12°c!
My heat clicked on.

Teathecolourofcreosote · 21/09/2025 22:42

I was wondering where in the UK had such low temperatures (I'm north Scotland) but see outside temperature has a low of 2 degrees tonight.

It certainly doesn't feel like that. We don't have central heating but even if we did it wouldn't be on.

We did say we'd need to start thinking about moving some wood around soon but it would be unbearably hot if we lit the wood burner now.

newyearsresolurion · 21/09/2025 22:45

So cold in Manchester it's 8 degrees atm and it will drop further to 4 degrees of course the heating has been on

TheDayWeGotMinnie · 21/09/2025 22:45

I try not to put mine on until it's November 😬

Catsknowbest · 21/09/2025 22:47

Cumbria. 1 degree overnight.

Catsknowbest · 21/09/2025 22:50

You do realise those seasons are all out of kilter now?

Catsknowbest · 21/09/2025 22:53

Not in my house. Out of date calendar. About 20 years behind.

NoSoapJustUseShowerGel · 21/09/2025 22:55

I voted Yabu because if it’s 8 degrees you should put it on! We haven’t put ours on yet because where we are in the south of the UK it’s not that cold yet. We’ve been putting jumpers on in the evenings though, and I do try and leave it as long as possible before putting the heating on for the first time after the summer.

Pieceofpurplesky · 21/09/2025 22:57

I am really lucky to have a gas fire and use that rather than the heating - I rarely have the heating on unless it's actually freezing. I had the fire on yesterday as it was cold and stormy (NW).

Happilyobtuse · 21/09/2025 22:59

It’s 7 Deg C here at the moment but supposedly feels like 4 Deg C! No heating on. Did use the room heater for a short while to warm the bedroom. Been fine all day though, just a t-shirt on, no jumper. Thinking we should hold out till Oct if possible, but will see how it goes. We have young children so might cave in. We pay monthly so usually in credit by the time sept rolls around as we haven’t used heating since April, and we were away for 6 weeks over the summer so use would have been negligible.

Assume you tried warmer clothes first? So many people put the heating on while swanning round the house in light clothing.

TSMWEL · 21/09/2025 23:01

Catsknowbest · 21/09/2025 20:41

Are you in the south?

NW here and thermostat says 20 in the house currently… absolutely no need for heating!

although we had awful rain yesterday it’s been ridiculously warm the last few days.

LifeOfBriony · 21/09/2025 23:03

We’ve had some problems with our heating the last two years, so I said to DH that we should put it on to see whether or not it was working properly, before we really need it when the temperature drops further. Heating wasn’t going off and on when it should have, so DH has replaced the timer himself, with help from YouTube.

Mrsmch123 · 21/09/2025 23:03

Yip been on the last week. Just small boosts
