Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

There are 20 hostages. Millions of Palestinians are suffering (and have been for decades). Why do you think the hostages are so special that everything must be about them at all times?

What a post.

And Israel is now dropping bombs on the Middle East! Surely you can see we are heading to WW3! There are no winners in this! And do you know what Israel are doing to women and children?

But who started it?
Babies burned alive, women had their breasts cut off and were gang raped and tortured.

Do you forget or don't you know?

Personally I would find that fact they have willing and quite publicly supported a modern day version of Hitler undertake a genocide in the world view more disgusting.

The Israeli government make me want to believe hell is an actual place.

What has been allowed to happen in Palestine will go down in History as one of the vilest episodes of modern day history.

"Modern version of hilter"? What an Ignorant, arrogant ,and morally bankrupt statement

Upstartled · 21/09/2025 17:26

Only 10% of the country are in favour of this move. I'm with the 90%

Where did you get this statistic?

Just who do you think is promoting terror ? Taking another country by violence, mass killing - genocide
the shame is it took him so long to stand up

SirHumphreyRocks · 21/09/2025 17:22

Criticising the actions of the Israeli government is not anti-semitism. It's humanity! Nobody gets a free pass on their behaviour, be they Jewish, Christian, Muslim or atheist. You cannot silence the world by saying that criticism of anyone Jewish is anti-semitism.

literally nobody said that Jews should get a free pass, nor am I attempting to 'silence the world' through throwing 'antisemitism' at everyone who criticises Israel. However, when Jews speak about antisemitism (see the examples from the NHS Doctor I posted above, or the faeces smeared on the Jewish institutions and nursery), the comments immediately come back that criticism of Israel is not antisemitism.

Slavery was an acceptable practice for thoiusands of years. Very few people consider it so now. We are fortunately able to rise above our history. And I inferred nothing - you are the one who "inferred" and continue to do so. If you want to believe that most people hate Jews then you do you, but I literally don't ever come across them. And just to be clear I know lots of Muslims who don't hate Jews and I know lots of Jews who hate what the Israeli government are doing. The world is such a complex place, isn't it?

Trying to compare the practise of slavery to antisemitism is really disingenuous of you. You must know that?

We are fortunately able to rise above our history.

Antisemetism isn’t history. It was only 80 years ago an attempt was made to exterminate every Jewish person from the planet. Living memory for some people. Again, so very, very disingenuous.

If you want to believe that most people hate Jews then you do you, but I literally don't ever come across them.

I didn’t say the majorly of people hate Jews, but it’s certainly not “very few people”. I don’t ever come across racists, but wouldn’t be so naive or ignorant as to deny their existence.

And just to be clear I know lots of Muslims who don't hate Jews and I know lots of Jews who hate what the Israeli government are doing. The world is such a complex place, isn't it?

Does that seem complex to you?

Are you including Jewish people that also support Palestine against the genocide?

ByShyRaven · 21/09/2025 17:28

EllaDisenchanted · 21/09/2025 17:02

Are you Jewish? If not, why would you have come across antisemitism? Numbers of Jews in the world are a tiny fraction of the number of muslims - about 15 million Jews to 2 billion muslims. From a purely numbers perspective if you are not Jewish the chance of coming across a Jew, let alone antisemitism, is therefore significantly lower than the chance of witnessing anti-Muslim acts.

Edited

That is a very good point.

But just taking about the UK, 150,000 people marched in London for a violent racist thug whose main driving factor is a hatred of Muslims - thinly veiled as “patriotism”.

However, Israel are not without fault and are getting worse! It’s absolutely right that Palestine is recognised as a country! Have you not seen the starving children on the news?

Children in Gaza are not starving because of Israel. The food is being allowed into Gaza. The problem is distribution, not supply.

EsmaCannonball · 21/09/2025 17:23

Not all criticism of Israel is antisemitic but most of it is because Israel is always held to a higher standard, a double standard, its actions always ascribed to malice rather than rationality and never placed in the context of their commonality with the actions of all/most other countries.

No it isn't. I am absolutely bloody certain that every country is held to the standard of not committing genocide.

TheGander · 21/09/2025 17:29

It is possible to hate Islamic terrorism and be horrified at what is happening to the Palestinians. The ratio of dead Israelis to dead Palestinians has passed 1:50. It’s not just the bombing, shelling, starving. It’s also the harrying by settlers, the loss
of land. As a non Jew/ non Arab, the feeling that any criticism of Israel will be met by suspicions or accusations of anti semitism, that nothing can be said about it, just adds to the feeling of frustration and anger.

TicklishReader · 21/09/2025 17:29

PollyPaintsFlowers · 21/09/2025 17:21

Those are the exact same people going on the hate marches, probably even running them

We know that the leader of the PSC applied to run a march as soon as 6/10 happened

But we're repeatedly told they're not antisemitic

There are undoubtedly a few anti-Semites among the marchers. No one is denying anti-Semitism exists.

The majority of the people protesting just want the genocide to stop. No hidden agenda.

Endlesswandering · 21/09/2025 17:29

Hamas and Palestine aren’t one and the same. Just like everyone in the UK isn’t a labour supporter despite us having a labour government.

The darkest days have been the ones where a literal genocide has taken place. Babies starved to death, tiny children bombed from the fucking skies with nowhere to run. Starmer should have stepped in a long time ago and I’m cross he hasn’t.

Before anyone starts, what happened on 7th October was appalling and vile and I obviously condemn Hamas in the strongest terms. But Palestinian people are not all Hamas. The vast majority just want to live in peace but war criminal Netanyahu is insistent on his ethnic cleansing of the place

OonaStubbs · 21/09/2025 17:31

Recognising Palestine as a state is completely wrong. We are basically rewarding them for the October 7th attacks.

this is beyond insulting and you know it.

antisemitism is a scourge that shouldn’t exist. But supporting a state against a genocidal enemy is not antisemitism.

GeneralPeter · 21/09/2025 17:32

@Osmosisfreight. Yes I think there is a portion of Israelis for whom the same could be said. There is no comparison in terms of scale or degree however (eg support for militarist hard-right politicians in Israel vs support for militarist Islamist groups in Gaza) either in the polling or just looking at Israeli vs Gazan society (eg opposition newspapers or pacifist groups on either side. Obviously that’s not surprising because of the penalty for open opposition in either place. Which itself is a chicken-and-egg issue).

I think you really need to educate yourself on the history of the Palestinians and how the Israeli government has been conducting themselves in the 75 years plus illegal occupation. Are you aware that many years before oct 7th, the Israeli government has been accused of abusing the Palestinians taking children on bogus charges (throwing stones at soldiers) and then placing them in prison for many years, they've been accused of sexual abuse against children and not to mention the abuse from the settlers, and the British government are the force behind the forced displacement of these ppl 75 years ago. Hamas are beyond vile, so is the Israeli government. Not the ppl. Not the civilians. They all deserve peace. Israel has no right to be is gaza for 75 years.. where was your disgust then ? Your thread is shameful. Begrudging these ppl an end to war simply because you don't like Muslims.

Whats more shocking has been the systematic withholding of water by the state of Israel, for decades. Literally they prevent palestinian people from accessing sufficient water, and have done for decades

The most basic, vital life resource.

Thats why the Palestinian people are so desperate

Papyrophile · 21/09/2025 17:32

Supporting Palestinian statehood is not the same as supporting Hamas.

It's exactly the same. Who do you think will run a Palestinian state?

I don't know... a poster going "Of course antisemitism exists but I'm 5000 years old and have never ever seen it, so...." is pretty much near enough to denial as makes no difference. The lip service is there but the clear implication is that it doesn't exist in any significant or meaningful sense, and that's just sheer bullshit. The poster either doesn't recognise it (most likely) or lives in a pod.
