Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

Nah, the days of namecalling over rightful criticism of aspects of Islam are over. No more hiding behind claims of 'islamaphobia'

Facts aren't hateful either, they're just facts

And if a book only tells one side of the story, what else is it?

Which parts of Islam specifically do you object to?
I am not a fan of any organised religion but Islam is no better or worse than the others IMO

Radical Islam. I would assume peace-loving Muslims are also terrified by it.

Yes they sure are. Look what happened to Syria when ISIS invaded. They terrorised the local population.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 03/10/2025 19:49

The trouble is only 1 in 4 UK Muslims believe Israel has the right to exist, only 1 in 4 UK Muslims believe Hamas committed rape and murder on Oct 7th so 3 million Muslims in this country don’t believe these things. About half of UK Muslims side with Hamas over Israel - that’s 2 million Muslims in the UK who support an Islamic terrorist organisation whose stated aim is to destroy Israel. Yes there are lots of Muslims who don’t support these things, but I find the number who do worrying

As we both have issues with organised religion I'd guess our concerns are the same or similar. If you want to chat about religion let's start a thread on the right board so we don't derail this one

Facts are not hateful but the subjectivity of our choices in the representation of facts and those we choose to erase or ignore can be interpreted as such. Alongside this I find the demonisation of Islam and constantly conflating it with terror to be a disturbing narrative.

This book is well worth a read but I’m assuming you won’t give it a chance because it might offer a counter narrative, Palestinians have had very little opportunity to provide one.

If only journalists were allowed in.

If only. Sadly they tend to get murdered or pressured into not reporting honestly

Ellen2shoes · 03/10/2025 21:59

The use of the passive voice there suggests that it is something that just happens to them. Israel has murdered hundreds of Palestinian journalists in strategic targeted hits and internationals are banned.

Actually the harm and blackmail came from Palestinians in Gaza

Ellen2shoes · 03/10/2025 22:06

Is that a fact?

PollyPaintsFlowers · 03/10/2025 22:09

Ellen2shoes · 03/10/2025 22:06

Is that a fact?

Go and do your research and you'll see

Ellen2shoes · 03/10/2025 22:20

Research has to be objective. There are no journalists there because Israel is committing a genocide and does not want the world to see. Yet, there is undeniable evidence and it is according to international law.

We all believe what we want to believe. I don’t want to believe this but I can’t deny it. The world watches the horror on social media and there are indisputable witness testimonies and footage. While there is propaganda everywhere, we all have to do our best to realise the truth.

Please read the book. It’s just a history book.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 03/10/2025 22:28

You can literally find this information online. I learned about one of the journalists on the BBC news website

I also watched an interview with a journalist from the New York Times who wasn't allowed to report honestly on Gaza because Hamas threatened to harm people (sources) he knew there

Both of these instances predates the war

Actually the harm and blackmail came from Palestinians in Gaza

No it didn’t

people gave their lives peacefully protesting for the Palestinians rights

these people lived with Palestinians and saw what their life was like

journalists were murdered in cold blood

ever heard of Rachel Corrie?

Tom Hurndall?

Do they sound English enough?

White English peace loving NON Muslims murdered in cold blood over 20 years ago

Do you know how many doctors from around the world have gone out there to Gaza and come out in shock of the atrocities against children?

There have been doctors who have gone to aid in multiple wars around the world,

but they say they have never seen the injuries like the ones on the children of Gaza

There’s doctors that have been going since years
and keep going back
you think they are having a jolly?

have you ever attended a conference where doctors come back and give a first hand report on what they have witnessed first hand and treated there?

No I don’t think you have

this isn’t about religion

this is about humanity

but I guess being an Islamophobic makes people lose their moral compass

It’s quite disturbing that senseless killing of children does not bother some people

we should be able to criticise the genocide in Gaza, the way we criticise the holocaust and other atrocities of history of any faith.

bbc is biased nonsense
most people have figured that out by now
I can find anything online

You keep throwing the word islamaphobic around, I don't think you know what it means

No one has expressed hatred for Muslims here

Is that why you keep posting article after article on Islam like you did above from centuries ago

your off the topic

and your very very clearly Islamophobic

this is about genocide in Gaza

Humanity not religion

Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Yes it is very interesting

Very interesting to know who they are and who funds their research
and how right wing they are

And people are posting the stats on UK Muslims based on this far right think tank that actually works with Israel?

How convenient

“no one has expressed hate for Muslims here”

are you sure about that?

peasporrige · 04/10/2025 11:30

Yes let's free Palestine from Hamas.

Any bright ideas how that can be achieved?

Well, there is a peace plan on the table.

I'm starting to side eye any person who calls it genocide and says the most important thing is for it to stop, and yet has some kind of blind spot where this deal is concerned. It may not be perfect (I do wish Trump and Blair weren't involved) but you'd think it would be better than what's going on now if that's genocide, and a first step to something more long term. It's the start of the process, not the end of it.

But no, none of these marchers or campaigners want it. So clearly, ending the war isn't their top priority right now.

So what is? What, to them, is actually worth indefinite ongoing killing?

peasporrige · 04/10/2025 12:38

@ThatCyanCat "you'd think it would be better than what's going on now if that's genocide, and a first step to something more long term. It's the start of the process, not the end of it."

I don't get it. Trump has told Israel to stop bombing Gaza, so why are the Palestine supporters still protesting this w/e ??
