Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

What are you talking about?

The posters who repeat ‘beheaded babies has been debunked’ are not helping anyone.

But it has been comprehensively debunked and yet people state it as of fact every single time there is one of these threads.

Wow. You're jumping through a lot of hoops here to avoid tackling the question of Hamas culpability in the deaths of Gazans.

You can only see the failures of Israel.
You blame only them for a genocide.
You blame only them for Israeli hostages dying.

If Hamas laid down their weapons and surrendered the hostages a year ago, do you think you would be seeing this devastation?

If Hamas had clear lines of separation between the military and civilian spaces do you think Israel would just be destroying civilian areas anyway?

You duck these considerations, which is whyi say you obviously have an agenda.

Excuse me, agenda? What agenda is that exactly?

EsmaCannonball · 22/09/2025 22:48

Ultimately, this is going to drive more people to vote Reform. Starmer has suicidally bad political instincts.

Ellen2shoes · 22/09/2025 22:56

The constant referral to Hamas as being culpable for this genocide has been exploited ad Infinitum. The human shield argument which shifts responsibility from colonial occupier to those it seeks to ethnically cleanse has been cited and comprehensively covered in another thread re genocide on mumsnet so please let’s stay with the thread.

The global community has decided overwhelmingly that Palestine should be recognised. It is not a dark day for us who write on here. These are darkest days for those being bombed in their tents while they are being starved. By the Israeli government. The world sees this but needs to do more and fast.

Highly unlikely. Unsurprisingly, starving innocent children doesn't play well with the UK electorate.

Everyone has a limit and slaughtering children Is usually it.

Well, there's something of an exception when it comes to Israeli children. I remember being on here while October 7 was still ongoing, Israel hadn't begun any response yet because people including children were still being shot, burned and abducted and there were plenty of "Israel should pay" comments, plus a number of full on antisemitic ones and while the posts were deleted, the posters weren't suspended or banned. I think we're still waiting for many global women's organisations to say something about the mass rapes as well.

There'll always be a tiny racist minority.

A tiny minority though and they get swiftly dealt with.

You can't tar a whole nation with the words and actions of a few.

Stompythedinosaur · 23/09/2025 08:09

The actions of Hamas against Israel were horrifying, but don't forget a second justify genocide.

Ultimately, Israel are the aggressors and are openly committing crimes against humanity, and we have to respond to that.

It's not tiny. And I haven't tarred a nation, what on earth.

I think a lot of people don't realise how much Hamas loves its own people dead. I don't know how much clearer they can make it but there it is. I'd be releasing the hostages.

Not alone, but probably in a minority, even on this thread.

Free Palestine and the hostages.

I was referring to the racist British minority that you said were posting on mumsnet just after Oct 7th.. Your post stated 'there's an exception when it comes to Israeli children'. As if British people did not care about the deaths of Israeli children.
Your statement was tarring a nation with being racist.

Racists in Britain that would happily see the death of children are a vanishingly small minority.

I stand by what I said.

curtaintwitcher78 · 23/09/2025 09:25

Don't worry OP, it's just a token gesture from Starmer. Nothing will change. Between us and the US we're still providing Israel with enough military assistance to ensure that the Palestinians (children included) will all be dead soon. If the bombing and famine doesn't get them, the 'settlers' in the West Bank will. You can sleep safe in your bed.

I don't remember any comments on Oct 7 itself saying 'Israel must pay'. I do think though that people forget how quickly Israel began to kill children in huge numbers. By the time a week had passed since Oct 7 Israel had killed at least 720 Palestinian children, they had announced that they were going to destroy Gaza and that they were going to starve everyone. Now here we are almost 2 years later Gaza has been destroyed, children are suffering from malnutrion and famine has been declared in Gaza city just like Israel promised that they would do in the very first week of this conflict.

If people would have listened not just to the people saying Israel should stop, they are genocidal but to Israel themselves who promised widespread destruction and starvation, would be where we are today with at least 20000 dead children, the most child amputees in the world and 1000s of children suffering from acute malnutrion? Instead for a very long time the worlds leaders pretended that what Israel was doing was self defence and not following through with the macabre promises they made in the week following Oct 7 that they would 'eliminate everything' in Gaza.

I remember immediately after 7/10 before Israel even retaliated, the anti Semitism and anti Semitic attacks.....which really makes the whole, there's no anti Semitism, people are just against genocide spiel even more difficult to believe.

Apparently the allegation originated with soldiers of the IDF. Just goes to show the truth of the saying that a lie can be halfway around the world while the truth is still getting its boots on. The Israeli government has never confirmed the allegation, and surely they would if they had concrete confirmation of it, wouldn’t they?

Croakymccroakyvoice · 21/09/2025 15:59

I don't know what the answer is but I'm fairly sure it's not starving children in Gaza...

Those pictures are heartbreaking.

Anyone who supports this has lost their moral compass.
