Starmer’s support for Palestine

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 15:39

Am I alone in seeing this as one of the darkest days in UK history?

Never before did I think I’d end up living under a government who reward terrorism.

Starmer and Labour are grotesque. History will not be kind to them. They have now empowered all terrorists and their supporters.

We deserve such better than this reprehensible government. They disgust me.

I stand with Israel. They're not the ones raping children, beheading babies, and videoing themselves celebrating it.

Nor are the thousands of children that are being killed in Palestine.

childofthe607080s · 21/09/2025 18:00

Who stated this? What back in around 1945? Don’t you think it’s a tad .. immature? Regressive? To be harking back to injustices done so long ago as justification for genocide?

Namechangerage · 21/09/2025 18:01

Steph888 · 21/09/2025 16:05

They literally voted in Hamas to govern them. The parallels with the IRA are ridiculously disingenuous.

Did all the children vote them in?

Strange. I just went on to their website and their poll has these exact numbers.

Where did you get them from?

@Steph888 Hamas are terrorists. Netanyahu and his team are terrorists. It’s that simple.

@Martymcfly24 Trucks were stopped at the border , the UN couldn't get them to distribute.

That is incorrect.
The aid was allowed into Gaza

If they are getting starved then there is a food distribution problem with the UN and other NGO's

If they are getting 'blown up' then that's due to Hamas using them as 'human shields'.

You forget that Hamas don't care. They want to destroy the State of Israel and aren't bothered who gets in the way.

I suppose you haven't seen the videos of Israelis blowing up bouncy castles and eating popcorn in the middle of the road so aid trucks can't get past. Or those where the "aid boxes" are just boxes of body bags. Or those where IDF soldiers have strapped Palestinian children to the front of their tanks to act as human shields (before Oct 7). You will always see what you want to see... And by the way, Hamas didn't exist until the 80s - Israel's crimes far precede that.

Freedom fighters? Anyone who murders an innocent civilian is not a freedom fighter.

Does that include members of the British army? Because a previous prime minister has apologised on behalf of the British army for their murder of innocent civilians in Derry. Do you hold them to the same standard?

I’m a Jew and I’ve started the process today to move to Israel.

Truly dark times.

Are you planning on settling in the West Bank?

Yes, and Hamas literally lied to the Palestinians about how they would govern.

It is utter bollocks either way.

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/09/2025 17:54

Nah, just shooting and starving and terrorising them over many months.

Remember the doctor who was told her 5 children had been blown to bits while she was saving lives? Or the guy who went to register his twins birth and got home to find his wife and new borns dead?

You must be so proud.

They're not being starved. That's just not true.

As for civilian casualities of war, well yes. That tends to happen. It's very sad. But weird how Israel is somehow supposed to conduct a war with zero casualties, isn't it? Maybe the Palestinians shouldn't have committed such a horrific massacre, and maybe they shouldn't have sent back dead babies and laughed about it, maybe they shouldn't have videoed starving Israelis being made to dig their own graves - Maybe it's insane to expect to be able to do these things and not suffer the consequences.

Wordsmithery · 21/09/2025 18:06

Personally I've felt deeply ashamed of living in a country that did not speak out against genocide and starving babies. These have been dark days indeed.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 21/09/2025 18:07

Israel offered the West Bank back to Jordan and Gaza back to Egypt. They both said, no thanks. Kuwait expelled all the Palestinians in 91 for their support of Saddam's invasion. They don't want them either.

But THEY ARE being starved, your so blinded by your loyalty to Israel you refuse to see any fault in them

PollyPaintsFlowers · 21/09/2025 17:07

For all those dismissing antisemitism being at the root of 'Pro-Palestinianism', just take a look at how many of those wonderful humanitarians on the hate marches are holding banners calling for the release of the hostages or condemning Hamas for their actions. You'll find more antisemitic imagery on the marches than you'll find anything pro-Jew

Many Jews in UK have marched with the Supporters of Palestinians to protest against what Netanyahu and his extreme right wing Government are doing eg Jewish Voice for Labour members. Are they anti Semitic too? What about the hundreds of Rabbis and Cantors in the US and the Jewish diaspora who have protested against the actions of the Israeli Government? Are they anti Semitic or just upholding the true humane tradition of Judaism?

So there was never a complete blockade of food?? Ever?

And did you actually read that sky article :
Israel may be keen to highlight the parked up trucks on the Gazan side - but aid groups say getting the aid to the border is the easy part.

They say distribution is caught up in Israel's refusal to sufficiently guarantee safe passage to the vehicles, given it controls well over 80% of the land in an active war zone.

And we all know the IDF absolutely love using aid workers for target practice.

Standing with Israel after the previous two years is simply beyond the pale.

SirHumphreyRocks · 21/09/2025 16:22

It depends on whether there is a foreign power attempting to wipe out your culture, your language and your freedom. Learn your Irish history before commenting on what is a just fight.

But ok - what is someone who murders an innocent civilian? A member of the IDF? What do you call them when they murder 65,000 innocent civilians?

Members of the IDF are obviously not civilians.

You shouldn’t deliberately target civilians (as the IRA did) regardless of how oppressed you are. Nothing justifies it. Don’t lecture people about ‘Irish history’. The history doesn’t matter. Legally and morally it’s always wrong.

Well obviously. Which is why soldiers who do this get investigated and prosecuted. It’s not difficult. It’s not ‘if my side does it, it’s fine’. It’s a legal and moral certainty. Deliberately targeting civilians is always wrong.

That is not quite correct.

It was true that Hamas won the election among Palestinians in Gaza — it happened in 2006 — though that victory was not by a majority of votes. The militant group did, however, win the majority of seats in the legislature.
in 2007,
Hamas ousted the Palestinian Authority from Gaza following violent clashes with Fatah, the party founded by Yasser Arafat, and many of those elected were murdered or fled.

ForgetMeNotRose · 21/09/2025 18:16

I think it was a good and balanced statement. I'm not usually a Starmer fan. I think it's come way too late, though.
