So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

There's not a single reputable report the FBI have confirmed the 2 were in a relationship.

I didnt know this till yesterday but apparently the now FBI director is a former maga podcaster. You can't make this shit up

So he thinks black pilots are more likely to be incompetent than white pilots.

No. He didn’t say that. What he said was if he saw a black pilot he would think ‘I hope he’s qualified’ and was during a discussion around reports that united - i think it was united but not sure - allegedly (allegedly as im honestly not sure it’s true) lowered their admittance criteria in order to reach a target of 50% of new pilots being black or female.

And it’s often wrong. It often makes things up that sound right but have no basis in fact or the sources used.

If you want to prove it - please provide the original source for AI’s claim that the FBI confirmed they are in a romantic relationship. Go on…

I’m sure news reports are being updated all the time. AI will have data mined all the available open information across the web and come up with that synopsis. It may well change in time but currently that’s the information that’s out there.

Exactly this. AI just regurgitates what it finds online. It doesn't understand what it's saying.

It's a useful tool for a lot of things, but please don't rely on it to be the arbiter of truth, it really isn't.

If there are a lot of articles saying XYZ, then AI will likely repeat XYZ. Doesn't make it true. With a few more prompts, you can probably get it to say the exact opposite.

I’m not sure it matters whether they were in a relationship or not. It’s the ideology surrounding the shooter that is being scrutinised and it’s certainly interesting (if true) that his roommate was transitioning.

Well a Christian would believe people should live according to the Bible. Do you think other religions living according to their religious books similarly harmful?

It is absolute bullshit that all , or even most Christians, have the kind of misogynistic, patriarchal and dangerous beliefs about gender roles that Charlie Kirk had / promoted. The fact that you are trying to minimise the inequalities produced by these ideas and promote them as an inevitable consequence of Christian faith is dangerous and baffling to me why someone would attempt this in 2025 Britain,

There’s an AI element to search engine’s now. Takes one second to hit the button. Your laughing response kind of proves that you might just be wrong which is somewhat cringey for you 😬

AI is generative. That means it generates information which is essentially predicted from the data available to it. If you are after factual information, it can't be relied upon. Some of the AI hallucinations I've seen in my students' work are completely bonkers.

Nah, AI doesn't mine ALL the information out there and come up with a logically reasoned response. Absolutely not.

It often starts at a surface level and sometimes just makes stuff up that sounds plausible.

Try asking it how many Rs there are in 'raspberry' . 😁

Or, try asking it to do a bio for you and for your friends, putting in your real names. Those can be fun. Unless you're very famous, it will often just make shit up.

I’m certainly not relying on it. The OP wanted a reputable news source and I gave them (undoubtedly him) a synopsis of what news reports are currently out there. I don’t have a direct line to the FBI which is the only information they (he) will accept currently.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/09/2025 09:59

So? AI only repeats information already online. This just demonstrates that there is conflicting information (and that relying on AI is unwise). There is nothing concrete to verify the groyper theory, whereas there are reports claiming to have evidence that the roommate is transgender and had leftist views. He is relevant as he was apparently in contact with Robinson re the gun on the day and relatives have confirmed he is cooperating with the FBI. The social media they’ve dug up suggests that if it is him he posts on trans subreddits about transitioning.

the mail have changed the article since i read it this morning, so i have posted it as well!!!!

To count the number of 'r's in "raspberry", I will break it down to individual characters:
r (the 1st 'r')
a
s
p
b
e
r (the 2nd 'r')
r (the 3rd 'r')
y
So, in "raspberry", there are 3 'r's.

I thought DEI meant that if you have two equally qualified candidates and one is black, or female, then you appoint the black one. So it ‘s not that lower calibre candidates are more likely to be recruited if they are black or female.

So if he thought DEI is wrong in principle , he was a racist. Stop trying to justify it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/09/2025 10:02

I’ve just checked, and there are two independent sources claiming to have spoken to “law enforcement” re this. NY Post and Fox News. It’s not unreasonable for people to think those reports are well founded, rather than some internet rumour.

No I wouldn’t. The kind of dangerous ideas about gender/ gender roles promoted by Kirk are also not mainstream / an inevitable consequence of being a Muslim . The fact that you apparently believe this is simply racialised stereotyping,.

(Equivalent on threadreader if you don't have an X account: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1966964219145855149.html)

Some of the full quotes about what he said on black pilots, school shootings, empathy and the Civil Rights act.

Does not include the 10yo daughter abortion one; the further context of that is that he believes life begins at conception and in principle doesn't believe in different laws for babies conceived under different circumstances. (Not my opinion but just mentioning for the sake of completion as I think that then covers the major quotes in the media on his views.)

Seems to be one key thing that every senseless act of violence has, the perpetrate has spent too much time on the internet. Unmonitored discord chat rooms, constant scrolling of videos and a decline in mental health. The far left and the far right wing both are and can be as violent as the other. Powered by watching videos and chatting with strangers online.

I’m not trying to justify it. I’m just giving facts. I don’t agree with what he said but also I don’t agree with quotas. The quota is true - you can look this up. So for them DEI is setting a quota that 50% of new pilots will be woman or POC. Your definition of DEI is not true.

what Charlie Kirk advocated for was that all jobs are allocated based on merit and not any other factors.

MeinKraft · 14/09/2025 10:04

The amount of misinformation that has been spread about this guy and things he has supposedly said is unbelievable. You’d think people would feel ashamed about twisting someone’s words and, in some cases, blatantly lying about things someone has said just a few days after they have died.

On the trans issue, I have seen a couple of very angry posts threatening all sorts from trans people on X since the discussion started about banning trans people in America from carrying guns. Threats of trans violence haven’t been taken seriously and they should have been. They will be now, in the US. Not sure what it will take for the police in the UK to follow suit.
