Charlie Kirk- and the reality

So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

It’s actually terrifying how easily people are indoctrinated and how quickly propaganda works. Please use your brain and ask why you are being fed certain information.

History tells us that government and law enforcement interference in investigations like this is highly common. Evidence is often distorted and fabricated. Don’t believe anything coming out in the press. And unless he has the very best lawyer, don’t believe everything coming out at trial either. Justice does not exist in the USA.

I abhor political violence it does no good unless you want to kill your political rivals to become like Putin et al.

Neither does martrying the human equivalent of a piece of shit and talking about him ad nauseum. His death hasn't made his life any more palatable.

He deserves to be relegated to the annals of history and his wife is already taking up the baton of oppressing others to make money.

Have there been people celebrating the death of the police officer because of the beliefs he held?

And if so, has there been merchandise made celebrating his death, with lots of professionals like teachers, university lecturers etc gleefully dancing at/cheering on the death of someone because they don’t share his ideas? These are people who should value the idea of debate and being tolerant of different view points and yet because they think their opinions are right and morally superior, have no compunction in being happy that someone was killed while inviting people to challenge his ideas.

I’m glad that we agree that political violence has no place in a democracy but what’s shocked me is that so many others don’t.

It's been intriguing to watch how the MAGA side have been twisting around on this.

They so much wanted the assassin to be a Democrat or 'far left'. They were pretty much declaring war on the left and holding them all responsible.

Now it looks quite likely that the killer was right wing.

Saw a MAGA post this morning. 'It doesn't matter who shot him. What matters is the reaction of the left.'

First off - 'the left' reacted in many different ways. Many condemned the killing.

Second, the right hardly covered themselves in glory in the past in how they responded to violence against Democrats. Fact is, there are people ready to make nasty comments on both sides.

The doxxing of leftists by MAGA has also been remarkable to see. The reporting of people to their employers. What happened to 'free speech'? Forget the 'freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences' bullshit. If you can't say something without fear of losing your job or worse, you don't have free speech.

Exactly this. And the inflammatory , violent, divisive rhetoric coming now from the right wing and Kirk’s nearest and dearest.

That has nothing to do with what I posted.

PP made claims, without reference to media, that TR has a trans partner.

PP had it pointed out to them that this was bollocks.

PP then tried to back it up by claiming it's in the Times.

PP then quoted a completely useless bit of text from the Times that doesn't confirm the relationship or trans status but rather repeats earlier unsubstantiated rumours.

I don't understand why there are some rabid posters on here who are so certain he didn't live with a trans woman and want to have a go at me about it. It's being reported in the news. I'm just repeating that report. I didn't invent the idea he lives with a TW.

Maybe its true, maybe it isn't. Time will tell.

A quote that disproved what she was claiming! She said the times reported it as fact. They absolutely did not- they simply referenced the existence of these rumours without even stating the source of them. We are all aware of the existence of these rumours, but there is no evidence as yet that they have any basis in truth.

I think there is a lot of this going on. It’s very clear that there is a struggle to control the narrative on all sides and to me it seems like the more fake news and unsubstantiated what I reckons are coming from people who want to distance the left from the violence and the glee many of them took in it. The truth will come out soon.

I wish I had heard of him before I'd have watched more stuff. Every clip I've seen of him demonstrates someone happy to listen to opposing views and able to debate respectfully. We may not have agreed with everything he said but he certainly wasn't abusive and hysterical like many who hold strong views.

Their social media accounts have been leaked and are out there for everyone to see, including Tyler’s roommates Reddit with an extensive comment history where he discusses transitioning and taking female hormones. There’s also evidence that he recently changed his Steam profile name from Lance to Luna.

I've heard an argument like this before. It's goes along the lines of "men will harm women anyway, no access to womens spaces required..."
Seems the right and left may have some common ground after all when it comes to understanding of risk mitigation .
