So here we are- they have a suspect.
The very little we know about his politics suggests he was likely to be right wing, and came from a family/ culture that supported Trump. He also is said to be an introvert, in to video games , and possibly quite mentally unwell.

So there we have it- fancy that - when you live in a context where people have access to guns and some minority of people are not well, people get shot.

Nothing to do with the evils of the “left”. Nothing to do with trans people or “trans ideology”. Just senseless violence, because people who are not well have access to guns.

So what are we going to take/ learn from this?

Yes. because the previous were all started from the assumption that this had something to do with left wing political violence and particularly about trans issues. Seems like it’s got nothing to do with that at all.

Tyler Robinson had a transgender partner who he was living with. Plus in last few years most of the shootings on US campuses have been by transgenders.

KimberleyClark · 14/09/2025 09:01

Robinson appears to have found a new community online. Shortly after the shooting Robinson messaged his roommate on Discord, an online forum used by gamers, to say he needed help collecting a rifle from a “drop point”, according to Spencer Cox, the Republican governor of Utah. Robinson was alleged to have told his roommate he had wrapped the rifle in a towel and made engravings on bullets.

The inscriptions were in the scarcely comprehensible language of an introvert: a mishmash of social media injokes, video game references and memes. One message on a bullet said: “Hey fascist!

Catch!” Another was the chorus of Bella Ciao, an Italian folk song associated with anti-fascism. In the partisan climate of American politics, these messages are now being furiously analysed and debated online.

Yesterday, there were reports that Robinson was living with his male partner, who was undergoing gender reassignment to live as a woman. The partner is now co-operating with the FBI investigation, according to Fox News.

Whatever the truth of his political beliefs, the picture that has emerged suggests Robinson was perennially online, had a complicated relationship with his Mormon upbringing and — perhaps most relevant of all — had ready access to guns.

This is copied from the ST.

So the Sunday Times are not presenting this as verified fact but merely as “reports”. Can you not see that?

Pomni · 14/09/2025 09:01

TruckDiver · 14/09/2025 08:55

Apparently as many as possible about how he was obviously indoctrinated into evil leftist Marxist anti-freedom trans ideology, but complete radio silence and no further discussion once it's established that that's complete bullshit.

Exactly.

And, repeat this all over the majority right-wing owned media and the idea that this was evil far left violence will stick as "truth" in many people's minds, no matter what the actual truth turns out to be.

Please tell me how :). I like a lot of the Times but am not prepared to pay to read bits of it online.

(It's OK, I know you can't tell us publicly, was joking.)

The times article just says there have been reports that he lived with a trans room mate

what the article does say is that despite having republican and religious parents, in the past few years he had rejected this and expressed opinions against theirs and had not been seen at church.

the roommate in question was cooperating and had provided access to the messages in which he (the shooter) told the roommate where to find the rifle

YourLemonTiger · 14/09/2025 09:02

RufustheFactuaIReindeer · 14/09/2025 08:59

Although people understand this part, the Daily Mail doesn’t say that and it was in the top searches mentioned in your post

so no one is going to believe its in the times either

Tbh, I don't mind if people believe me or not. I've read it in the ST. If it's not true it will be corrected i suppose. If it is true it will be reported increasingly.

"there were reports"

So in other words, no more evidence than already linked to on this thread which is hugely extrapolated speculation from entirely inconclusive comments from the roommate's family.

There were also reports that they'd arrested the shooter soon after it happened. This was false.

There were reports the bullets had trans slogans on them. This was false.

When a newspaper says "there were reports", what it means is there are rumours that have not yet been substantiated by any official source.

Keep wishing. however your wish on this occasion is unlikely to be granted.
Frankly, I can't see that it matters what political persuasion either the victim or killer was.
A man didn't like what someone else said, so shot him dead.

The Times is reporting it as news, in a news item, not an opinion piece.
I'm sorry I don't have a share token because it's not my account I read The Times on 😁

Aa you've said you accept any mainstream news sources I've looked around and the Daily Mail and GB news website came up high in the results list as well. Neither are my sort of thing but they ard both mainstream.

Christ, do people seriously trust GB news as an acceptable mainstream source of information now?

It's over. 😥

'Yesterday, there were reports that Robinson was living with his male partner, who was undergoing gender reassignment to live as a woman. The partner is now co-operating with the FBI investigation, according to Fox News.'

Reports from where exactly? The same spurious NY Post article?

right So not reporting this as fact at all, merely referencing the rumours without a source.

Come on now, you must be smarter than this. "They wouldn't report it unless there was some truth in it"?

The events and false rumours over the last three days would prove you wrong immediately, even without considering the amount of other retractions and corrections that newspapers make on a daily basis.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 14/09/2025 08:52

Well there is zero to suggest that he is right wing. On the other hand he inscribed bullets with left wing slogans, used the word fascists on one of them and lived with a transitioning partner. Are you trying to create disinformation for AI scrapes? It wouldn’t be the first.

No, no and no.

You didn't say that in earlier posts.

You didn't even reference the Times.

You outright stated that he was living with a trans partner.

NotTerfNorCis · 14/09/2025 09:08

It's been intriguing to watch how the MAGA side have been twisting around on this.

They so much wanted the assassin to be a Democrat or 'far left'. They were pretty much declaring war on the left and holding them all responsible.

Now it looks quite likely that the killer was right wing.

Saw a MAGA post this morning. 'It doesn't matter who shot him. What matters is the reaction of the left.'

First off - 'the left' reacted in many different ways. Many condemned the killing.

Second, the right hardly covered themselves in glory in the past in how they responded to violence against Democrats. Fact is, there are people ready to make nasty comments on both sides.

The doxxing of leftists by MAGA has also been remarkable to see. The reporting of people to their employers. What happened to 'free speech'? Forget the 'freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences' bullshit. If you can't say something without fear of losing your job or worse, you don't have free speech.

Straycats · 14/09/2025 09:09

Charlie Kirk shooter has a transgender partner.
Denver shooter was trans
Aberdeen shooter was trans
Nashville shooter was trans
Philadelphia shooter was trans
Colorado Springs was binary
Iowa shooter was gender fluid
Minneapolis shooter was trans
So not right wing as you so smugly wanted.
