Ours works out as around £55-60 a month extra after tax, I know it's better than nothing but bills, mortgage , transport etc. Will outweigh it..
Anyone else?

The exec of the charity I work for has given staff the options of a little under 3% or a bit less than that but with some extra benefits for new parents. Payrise was meant to be in April but was delayed because there was a restructure earlier this year that massively overran (and was badly handled). The options have just been presented to the union reps who are meant to now get us to pick one. Exec are clear there is simply no more money for an inflation-matched payrise this year. But people are pissed off about the restructure so making lots of comments that it's insulting, too low, they won't accept either offer etc... I just want the bloody money!!

I one time got a tiny pay raise that kicked me into an entirely new tax bracket, and I ended up taking home less per month than before. I really wish they had run the maths on that one... miserable. I'm not expecting a raise this year, was told that last year, so hopefully bonus. Let's see.

That really shouldn’t have been the case - a new tax bracket means you should only pay the higher tax rate on the amount in the higher bracket. It will have sorted itself out over the tax year

Just a small one, about 500 a month after tax. I say small bc my husband gets 40k bonuses regularly. My company has offered to hire me as a contractor under my own business though so this will allow me to keep much more of my pay packet, which is something.

3.6% - NHS worker. Not a union member and no complaints from me.

8k but that’s not much as it sounds in % terms.

0%. To add insult to injury I got promoted and only received a 5% payrise as well - lots of companies are clearly struggling

Tablesandchairs23 · 09/09/2025 02:43

No our pay rise was a pay cut.

Found a new job, not massively paid better but better, plus annual review of salaries and training for industry qualification that also incurs a pay award once qualified.

Good for you, making a change 😊 good luck
