Ours works out as around £55-60 a month extra after tax, I know it's better than nothing but bills, mortgage , transport etc. Will outweigh it..
Anyone else?

I got 40%. After 2 years of zero. Private sector.

Fgfgfg · 08/09/2025 21:27

Where did you get 3.2% from? My pay rise is 1.4% and I'm not a public sector worker.

The 3.2% she won't even notice post was made by @Mutability

Notsuchafattynow · 08/09/2025 21:55

None. All our pay rise money went on the increased employers NI contributions.

TSHconfusion · 08/09/2025 22:00

Our union has just rejected 5%, starting to realise how lucky we are to be offered that reading this post

socks1107 · 08/09/2025 22:02

NHS 3.6%. I think it should’ve been more but now having read this thread we did ok on paper.
Bills have risen more than what I got but it’s rubbish for everyone it seems

HurdyGurdy19 · 08/09/2025 22:03

I work for a local authority, so pay rise is "only" 3.2%. It will be backdated to April and is due to be paid in September's pay run.

amigafan2003 · 08/09/2025 22:05

2.5% baseline plus 2.2% performance related (consolidated) so 4.7% in total. I'm fine with that.

NoSoupForU · 08/09/2025 22:05

Yes, I got 13.5% this year.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 08/09/2025 22:07

Getting something in November apparently.

Won’t be equal to inflation though.

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 08/09/2025 22:07

3.5% increase - I’m a lawyer on maternity leave.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 08/09/2025 17:26

It’s really only the public sector that get pay rises.

That’s not true from my experience. I used to work in the private sector and got much better pay rises than I ever have in the public sector!

AhBiscuits · 08/09/2025 22:11

I got one in April. 4.5%.

Didimum · 08/09/2025 22:12

Haven’t had a pay rise since 2023, and that was with a promotion. Can’t recall when the last inflationary one was at my place. Years ago. Nothing last year, nor this year. Private sector.

My DH is public sector and his has had a good few pay uplifts. Lucky him …

Lancasterel · 08/09/2025 22:13

4%, part-time teacher here. I think it works out about £50/month but never sure on the tax calculators online.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 08/09/2025 22:15

Also Civil Service and fuck knows. We usually get it backdated from April in October’s wage but there’s no sign of a pay deal, the government are only interested in giving us more work not more pay!

Someone on a FB page for new starters asked when they should start negotiating their pay, must be coming from the private sector. Oh how I laughed…

Vasculargammon · 08/09/2025 22:17

I just got 25%, charity sector. I'm pretty happy with that. I pointed out a few weeks ago that I'd not had a pay rise since I started 2 years ago and hinted that I'm looking elsewhere. Feel I've earned it though

brunettemic · 08/09/2025 22:30

OverlyFragrant · 08/09/2025 16:36

Civil service so again, below inflation is expected.
Getting pretty sick of it to be honest.

Out of interest what was it? I’m private sector and got 2% so I’m intrigued to see the difference. Absolutely not here for a public sector vs private sector argument.

What change have you made ? Did you find a new job ? Just curious, don't have to answer if you would not !

Found a new job, not massively paid better but better, plus annual review of salaries and training for industry qualification that also incurs a pay award once qualified.

Precisely! Sometimes I think Unions are in a fairy tale land. I agree with having unions, but when there's no money almost anywhere, wish they would focus on improving comditions and contracts over high wage increases (which do drive up inflation as well).

Private sector, 1.5-2.5% inflationary linked rise most years but not all years.

Also charity trustee. Just trying to avoid redundancies of our staff.

TheHateIsNotGood · 08/09/2025 22:51

A lump of tax burden, local and national. comes from the employer (state/taxpayer) contributions towards public sector pensions and enhanced employment conditions.

Civil service employer/taxpayer contributions are off the scale when compared to the statutory minimum in the private sector. The Local Government Association sets payscales and T&Cs well beyond the reach of the businesses that employ the local council tax payers that funds their council.

Take the heat out of that and encorage public sector workers to opt out of their taxpayer funded schemes and things might simmer down a bit.

DysonLover1 · 08/09/2025 22:55

Private sector 2.5% last January.

ScrambledEggs12 · 08/09/2025 22:55

Private sector, think I'm more likely to be made redundant than get a pay rise.

ColinVsCuthbert · 08/09/2025 22:58

I one time got a tiny pay raise that kicked me into an entirely new tax bracket, and I ended up taking home less per month than before. I really wish they had run the maths on that one... miserable. I'm not expecting a raise this year, was told that last year, so hopefully bonus. Let's see.

TartanMammy · 08/09/2025 23:07

ratatouille99 · 08/09/2025 19:23

Charity sector. Haven't had a pay rise for 4 years.

Join a union. I'm also in the charity sector Unite have secured our pay rise every year for the last decade, between 1% and 5% a year.

Just because you work for a charity doesn't mean you don't deserve a decent wage, cost of living impacts us too. Don't be guilted into budgets and findings issues as an excuse to pay your properly.

Franpie · 08/09/2025 23:11

I’ll be getting an 8% pay rise but that’s because my pay rises are in my contract and not discretionary.

That said, the vast majority of our staff will not be receiving a pay rise this year. They can thank Rachel Reeves for that due to her employers NIC hike.
