The cooler breeze is refreshing and the rain was needed.

@Delatron

I don’t think we have as defined seasons as other places though? This year summer has been different but normally it’s mild and wet to a bit colder and wet. No snow, normally not that much heat. Other countries have better seasons.

Possibly but we still have noticeable changes in the seasons. I lived in California for three years and it's basically the same temperature all year around (except in San Francisco where the only discernible difference is between all encompassing fog or slightly less fog).

Returning to the UK was great because you could actually tell what time of year it was.

Delatron · 07/09/2025 11:18

I think I’d deal with the cold better if we had more of a definite change though. This summer has been unusual. And to be honest I’d prefer more snow in winter. I don’t mind cold, crisp, frosty days. It’s the mild drizzly grey rain for months in end which is depressing. Not the actual temperatures.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/09/2025 11:19

I like autumn if that’s what you mean.

I also like summer though so 🤷‍♀️

That's not true, at least not of the whole of Scotland. I'm in Glasgow and we had an epic summer and also a glorious Spring.

Yeah I’m in the north east of Scotland it was bloody boiling.

I hate summer tbh. Autumn is my time 🍂

Not daft enough to live somewhere that needs a ferry right enough lol

Exactly. I don't understand people who moan about living far north on an island. Just move if you hate the climate!

Pricelessadvice · 07/09/2025 11:49

I love it! I’m in my element now- hoodies and jumpers and woodland walks.

ilovesooty · 07/09/2025 11:56

No.

Livpool · 07/09/2025 14:00

No - I hate it. It’s grey and miserable, and teeming here. It is depressing

SepticPegsSepticLeg · 07/09/2025 14:03

No, its bloody cold 😞

DappledThings · 07/09/2025 17:15

It's absolutely roasting in London. I'm heading home for a cold shower. My feet feel like they might actually catch fire

PossibleIm · 07/09/2025 17:16

Yes

Projectme · 07/09/2025 17:36

Ah I love autumn. My favourite season of all 🍃🍂 we often get lovely weather in September in the UK...

Gettingbysomehow · 07/09/2025 17:52

The only thing I really miss about summer is wild swimming. I absolutely love it. Im not brave enough to do it in winter although my friend swims all year round.

Delatron · 07/09/2025 18:00

Conversely, as a summer lover, I’m actually looking forward to my cold water lake swims through winter . They’ve just installed a sauna by my lake so will be a quick dip then sauna. Maybe that will boost my mood through the dreary months!

I don’t feel as tough going in the summer but I do enjoy it.

Glad I’m not in the Uk anymore! Love the summer 🤣

Our summers in the UK for the past few years have been pretty good

ConnieHeart · 07/09/2025 18:03

It was roasting hot where we live yesterday, South West so I've hardly noticed any difference

ConnieHeart · 07/09/2025 18:07

Elbowpatch · 06/09/2025 17:12

I’ll still never believe a pumpkin latte makes up for 6 months of cold, rain dark though

Nor me. I bloody hate autumn. Christmas and New Year are OK but, otherwise, life doesn’t restart until March.

God, what a horrible way to live! Can you not find anything positive in your day to day life?

Even though I don’t live in the UK I go quite often and I only moved away last September. I never really enjoyed the summer in the UK. The unpredictability and the fact they are always short. For me they are never pretty good but I understand pretty good for the UK.

CalzoneOnLegs · 07/09/2025 18:17

@ConnieHeart same here, Dorset it’s beautiful, breezy and everything’s been freshened up with that welcome rain we have had. We had a 15 second thunder roll about nine am today and a small burst of rain.
the very best thing is the cool at night

Yep! Can’t stand it. It has been teeming here today and I feel really sad

KawasakiBabe · 07/09/2025 18:39

I’m a total summer girl.

Yes me. I love the change into autumn. No more heatwaves for a start.

I feel tricked! I was rejoicing in the start of Autumn and today's been bleeding boiling to quote FND.

It’s moving into very high humidity tonight but thankfully down to 21 degrees and much lower humidity tomorrow ( SE)

No this year was good. The last few before this were not. It’s not usual to have a good summer here, it’s lucky if we do..
