To think Farage surely has to go

So Farage has some dodgy private company set up to avoid paying tax. Is he being pressured to resign as head of Reform? Of course not. Because he’s an entitled privileged man.

The double standards are incredible really. Here’s the story https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/sep/05/nigel-farage-uses-private-company-to-pay-less-tax-on-gb-news-earnings

While I think Rayner had to resign, why are the same standards not being applied?

Exclusive: Reform leader’s use of personal services firm is a practice criticised across the political spectrum

Yes, that went down well. Connolly is coming out of this nicely. Double whammy that her incarceration backfired on Starmer. When will they ever learn.

Seriously? Connolly is not some kind of Mother Theresa figure you know. Her tweets are disgusting. She was inciting hatred and more to the point violence targeted at a specific group. If someone really had set a hotel on fire and people had died she would have had blood on her hands. She's really not some patriotic heroine that 'came out of it nicely'...

Allison Pearson thinks she’s a saint. Some people have swallowed the Telegraph narrative whole.

She was venting her spleen; I doubt she literally meant for anyone to burn down hotels. Ricky Jones was thought not to have called for throat slitting. I suppose one defendant was easy pickings.

There isn’t, though.

Farage will be exposed for the charlatan he is long before the next GE. If he doesn’t just get bored and bugger off to the US for a bigger paycheque first.

Farage spent decades trying to get Brexit done. He doesn't exactly have form for not sticking to a topic.

She's a Saint to those who are pissed off with their voices going unheard. In fact she martyred herself. I doubt she's going to have to work again.

No they're not. They're agitating - not the same thing.

Labour are following it in a bid not to lose support.

Starmer's new Home Sec has got her work cut out. I can't quite work out if there's method in his madness.

What are Labour supporters suggesting people do if they want controlled immigration, controlled welfare, curb woke identity ideology and reasonable taxes? Which most people do.

Labour are doing all that aren't they?
We don’t have uncontrolled immigration. Net immigration is down by a half on last year.
A bill on reducing benefits is being rewritten due to democratic processes working, but that’s the direction of travel.
Im not sure what exactly you define as ‘woke’ but there’s lots of criticism of Labour for being anti trans if that’s what the ‘identity ideology’ bit is about. Yes, they’ve expressed views a GC person might deplore in the past, but the message has changed since the ruling about women only spaces.
They haven’t increased taxes on ordinary workers at all. They may have to at the next election, but it’s clear that Farage’s tax cuts are uncosted and would be disastrous.

How do you know what she meant? She wrote those things. Saying she was venting her spleen makes it sound so harmless. If anyone called for the hotel protesters to be, say, mowed down with a car, I would be just as appalled and I'm pretty sure you would not call that just 'venting', would you?

The fact that the two cases had different outcomes is down to the courts and the specifics of how each case was handled by the defence; it's nothing to do with the government.

I do concede the outcomes of the prosecution were not comparable. On paper, anyway.

The charges were for different offences.

Being born in a city you've seen radically changed, is different to knowing it fairly well. Reform won't make white Brits feel ashamed of their heritage. Has it not sunk in, by now? Do you think the emergence of the flags is just a trend?

I know the emergence of the flags was started by violent far right activists…
Birmingham has high crime rates, but it’s not as dangerous as you are suggesting. It’s perfectly safe to walk the streets.
Why are you ashamed of your heritage? I’m not. Nobody but you is making you feel that.
Again, how will Reform make you feel safer to walk the streets?

Well.

I doubt she’ll work as a child minder again, or in any other regulated activity - not with that on her DBS.

Oh well. Play stupid games, etc.

You’ve got a larger chunk of people pushing for policies and if Labour emulate Reform’s agenda that much people will just vote for the actual party setting it instead.

In short it’s hard for Labour to out-Reform Reform. The latter still benefit.

Connolly was never a defendant. She pleaded guilty, admitted she’d done it. It’s a pretty simple concept. She could have had a trial and found out what a jury would say, but she acknowledged she had broken the law. She seems now to have changed her mind, but that doesn’t change the facts.

Voices unheard? All we ever hear is Farage and his anti-asylum rhetoric these days.

Of course they are. Military barracks, stopping family reunification, harsher rhetoric.

It won’t work because people will just vote for Reform instead.
