To believe anyone who claims to like rum and raisin ice cream is a liar

Trying to seem interesting?

I do! Not my favourite, but I certainly like it

FleetFootedJanet · 02/09/2025 21:31

Sorry, completely disagree. It’s absolutely lovely and made even more exciting by its rarity. Mint choc chip is probably the king of flavours, but it’s everywhere.

AllJoyAndNoFun · 02/09/2025 21:31

Hate rum, hate raisins but love R&R icecream.

It’s my favourite! That and mint choc chip.

tupperwaretowers · 02/09/2025 21:32

Ooh I love it. Top tip, the fruit soaking for your Christmas cake is perfect for this over vanilla ice cream.

Cheesecrunch · 02/09/2025 21:34

My teen absolutely loves it and he doesn’t even drink alcohol! They occasionally have it in Lidl and we are all under strict orders to purchase at least 2 tubs when it’s there.

Mumptynumpty · 02/09/2025 21:34

Love it.

My now adult kids love it and always have.

We all also love run and raisin chocolate.

It was my dad's favourite also.

My favourite. I always choose it when on holiday, it’s harder to get from supermarkets as a routine flavour though.

Just saw it in Lidl a few days ago. I gave it a wide berth and picked mint choc chip instead.

Fangisnotacoward · 02/09/2025 21:36

I genuinely like it. Rarely see it though

It's in stock at my local Lidl

Chobby · 02/09/2025 21:36

Is it interesting though? My MIL loves it, but I don’t think any of us have ever given her any attention for it so if that’s her reason for ordering it then it’s failed!

4forksache · 02/09/2025 21:38

I’m not an ice cream person but I love rum and raisin fudge. Is that ok?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/09/2025 21:38

Mmmmmm.

Bucket of mixed olives, chilli pickled garlic, artichokes, goats' cheese and walnuts for starters, followed by a selection from Rum & Raisin, Coffee, mint or Pistachio gelato or a lemon/redcurrant/blood orange/raspberry and peach granita or sorbet.

All lovely, and by the sounds of it, I wouldn't be at risk of having to share very often.

4forksache · 02/09/2025 21:38

.

menopausalfart · 02/09/2025 21:43

I don't like booze, but for some strange reason, I love the taste of rum and raisin.

Studyunder · 02/09/2025 21:48

Love a bit of R & R occasionally. Sorry to disagree!

Rewis · 02/09/2025 21:48

I strongly belive once you start liking rum raisin ice cream, you're officially old. Same wirh liking the Chanel no5.

SouthernNights59 · 02/09/2025 21:50

My friend and I both love it, and I'm pretty sure my late DM did also. You are wrong!

Dublassie · 02/09/2025 21:50

OMG I LOVE it !!!!

bumbaloo · 02/09/2025 21:52

Dogaredabomb · 02/09/2025 20:32

It's my favourite! Closely followed by coffee.

My twin!

dizzydizzydizzy · 02/09/2025 20:36

I love it! I loved it when I was a child too. My (young adult) DCs wouldn't like it because they don't like anything with an alcohol taste. I was always happy as child in the 70s to eat brandy butter or other desserts with alcohol poured on them .

You raised your children well!

I am the same

Alcohol in a glass
Food on a plate

DH on the other hand, it’s his favourite, maybe I should LTB?

Mustbelove21 · 02/09/2025 21:56

One of my summer highlights was getting a rum and raisin ice cream and BF of just over a year asking for a lick, as it was his favourite flavour after Cornish cream vanilla.

It made me so happy that he loves RnR nearly as much as I do.
