Yes, I am going to remember it for later.
They are usually obsessed with poo and bum holes though. Are there appropriate emojis for those?
Maybe 🍩as it seems to cover both 😂

😂😂😂

Maybe the dog version of 🍆 should be 💄

Wtf

I don't mean the dog chews are designed for humans to eat, I mean they are designed to look attractive in order to persuade dog owners to buy them for their pets. Like little mini bones, pretend steaks and other shapes, which owners think look cute, and the dog couldn't care less if it was shaped like a cartoon bone or looked like a fox turd.

Until dogs can buy their own treats I suppose the products will be marketed at humans.

It is possible to buy pig's ears and deer hooves for dogs (what a dog would choose for themselves maybe) and I have done in the past but anything my dog eats has to be under 10% fat as she has had pancreatitis so I choose treats and food based on the information on the back of the packet rather than the shape. One of the things she eats is Bakers complete dried food. She goes through the bowl picking out the round ones and spitting them on the floor and only eating the square ones. Presumably they taste different. She has to eat the round ones in the end though.

IllBeLookingAtTheMoon · 02/09/2025 15:34

Right?! @Dabberlocks is telling on herself🤣

As I've already explained, it is a marketing ploy by the manufacturers to make their product stand out from the rest, and to persuade dog owners to choose that product for their dog over another (probably cheaper) version.

No dog is going to care what its treat looks like as long as it is edible.

tillyandmilly · 03/09/2025 15:36

You obviously don’t have dogs!

kids don’t need ice cream either! But its nice and they enjoy it! Don’t be mean!

Dearg · 02/09/2025 00:17

Working dogs probably don’t get any of this stuff, but the others are Pets.

As in, we humans feel good taking care of them. Sure, some people get carried away, treat them as babies etc. , but most of us just focus on the things that make the dog comfier. Like a supportive bed for the car.

Can’t imagine my lab in John Lewis though, her credit score is shite.

My working dogs would like to point out that ACTUALLY they need ice cream far more than pet dogs….

we won’t talk about the fact they are thoroughly spoiled 😂.

Onleemoi · 03/09/2025 16:01

High value treats are a great training tool. The anti dog people want well behaved dogs but don’t believe in rewarding them. Anyone would think they’re just looking for things to whinge about.

Have a look at Tails food - mine comes in at 8.4% fat and seems pretty palatable. You can adjust the ingredients depending on the dog's preferences or needs ie grain free.

I can send you a code for a free month worth of food if you like - I don't want to spam the board!

I sell dog ice cream at my cafe. I’ve sold more dog ice cream than human ice cream this year. It’s been great for dogs in this hot summer to cool them, it’s better for them than the puppocinos people otherwise ask for, and it even keeps the labradors busy for ten minutes so their owners can enjoy their food/drinks in peace!
Dog prams, while I’d never thought I’d have one, Ive seriously considered it this year when we go to a big event that we do every year. Little dog is now 12 and not wanting to walk far, and it’s seven miles. She’s heavy to carry, especially with coats, drinks and picnics.
Dog beds in cars, keeps them quiet and comfortable in the back when going to and from such events, which are three hours from home.

Thanks but she's fine with Senior Cesar and some Butcher's with Baker's dry food. It's the treats I'm especially careful with.

Pinkmagic1 · 03/09/2025 16:21

Advent calenders
Birthday cards
Beer and wine (pawseco and bum sniffer I think it's called)
Clothes (certain breeds may need a coat in colder weather)

EverythingIsComputer · 03/09/2025 16:29

Dog bed for the car is an essential, got an arthritic lab and I want him comfy. He also gets a little ice cream every once in a while for a treat. No bacon bubbles as he goes hyperactive trying to bite them.

I love him, he enriches my life and I love that there are little treats like you’ve described.

Endlesswandering · 03/09/2025 16:39

They absolutely don’t need bubbles flavoured with bacon but companies see folk like me coming and start selling it 😂 but it is something that’s great enrichment if the dog likes it. On a rainy day it can provide some entertainment. I’d rather people buy tat like this to entertain and enrich their dogs lives than never do anything with them. Good walks through woodlands etc are obviously preferable! I just see so many sat in windows that never go out and must have the most boring lives!

Going to be even more boring now and say we also have a dog bed for the car 😂 helps the dog feel a bit more secure on the back seat when strapped in. Prams are also great for elderly dogs or those recovering from injury

Stuff that I do think is mental is costumes for dogs. Bizarre to me. I’m all for a coat if it’s pissing it down or a jumper if they’ve recently had a haircut and are freezing but dressing them up as a bloody bumble bee is something that’s beyond me

Jackiepumpkinhead · 03/09/2025 16:41

Well that backfired didn’t it, OP.

Endlesswandering · 03/09/2025 16:41

Clevs · 02/09/2025 19:03

In the last few days I’ve seen two local cafe’s/pubs advertising “breakfast with Santa” with a puppacino & toy and the other advertising to meet “Santa Paws” which includes a dog meal & drink, cupcake, visit to the grotto, present and Christmas cracker.

That’s just bonkers.

Stop it because if my dog wasn’t scared of men I’d be signing up on the spot 🤣🤣 we don’t have kids and he’s my baby 😂 I joke but it’s also mental when parents take their 6 month old babies to stuff like that when the babies have no idea what’s going on. Human parents can be just as unhinged 😂

Best myself and the dogs went to bed.

But do they need to go to bed with you. (Mine does)

Dogs don’t need
henlake7 · 03/09/2025 20:41

Dog bubbles sounds weird but I won't hear a word against dog prams/buggies....they are an invaluable bit of kit, especially if you don't drive!
I've used mine for getting poorly dogs to the vet, for my current elderly dogs to get to nicer places for walks without getting too tired.
I once had a dog and a cat neutered on the same day and they shared the buggy on the way home!
Oh, and it's also taken heavy bags of clothes to the chazza and carted big bags of compost home from the garden centre.
Def worth the money!

Dogs certainly don’t need another dog-bashing thread! Why are you so bothered by how strangers spend their money? Happy, fulfilled people don’t need to waste time mocking others. Shame on you and those still clinging to your mean-girl playground habits. Grow up.

Big shout-out to my fellow dog owners who treat their pups to these things—and to those who’ve shared pics of your adorable pups! 🐶🥰

pambeesleyhalpert · 03/09/2025 21:03

I really want a le cruset dog bowl even tho I don’t have a dog. They’re just so cute

NNforthispost · 03/09/2025 21:04

I love this thread - I now know there are Santa paws grottos I can take mine to, there are gastropubs with bespoke dog menus and I have a recipe for homemade dog ice cream (thanks PP - I give her these as a treat on her licki mat but hadn’t thought of blending and freezing). Honestly this thread has really made me smile!

And yes my girl has a little birthday party each year with the family, with presents and balloons (no card as she can’t read) and lots of fun activities.

She gets two massive walks each day so has four hours daily exercise, and seems to genuinely enjoy the other activities where we take her along. She’s part of my life. She obviously doesn’t come grocery shopping or to shopping centres - I don’t know of any where non service dogs are welcome. But she loves going out with me anywhere so enjoys the garden centre (she knows she gets fusses and biscuits) or even to The Range (she know we will pick up snacks or new balls).

It’s such a joy having her in my life and so I want her life to be as full, and as fun, as it can be 😀

But do they need to go to bed with you. (Mine does)

On top of the covers, 2 labs take up 3/4 of the bed and me the rest.

Blueuggboots · 03/09/2025 21:07

Don’t need ice cream??? WHAT?! 🤣🤣🤣

My dog walker walks a dog in a buggy. Madness.

It’s not mad. Obviously the dog can’t walk far, but it’s still getting fresh air, different smells and different things to look at.

VickyEadieofThigh · 03/09/2025 21:16

Whistonia · 01/09/2025 22:27

I agree they don’t need ice cream. But mine needed a pram after a cruciate operation.

Indeed. Our elderly staffy needed a stroller when he developed IVDD and couldn't walk very far. It was a way of getting him out of the house.
