Just that, they seem so deliriously in love in every picture I've seen of them.

More power to them if they are that happy, they've both hit the jackpot in so many ways.

But.. to still look so enthralled with each other after so many years??

Yes, that’s quite an astonishing deception.

astonishing amount of deliberate downplay of Mrs Clooney's experience and qualifications on this thread. Some serious investment in malicious mis-stating of facts by some unhealthily interested individuals

There is no misstating of facts and everyone has consistently said she is accomplished and brilliant. However her importance in the legal world is often exaggerated.

This

and she is absolutely stunning

It wouldn't have harmed her career to have a high profile marriage. Quite the reverse I would have thought.

sex sells especially in Hollywood

sadly i think its impossible in Hollywood to be openly gay actor with a male partner and be A list box opening star , leading man to ladies
those that have come out and said they were gay there careers have tanked

yes there are some up and coming actors who are openly gay but I don’t think they will ever reach the AList level of say George Clooney Tom Cruise

My thoughts on who are gay but hiding it
( badly)

George Cloony
Will Smith
joh travolta
Leonardo De caprico
all of these have always played the leading generally alpha lover type male in films with a love interest who is a woman

tom cruise - in love with himself 😂

they are all huge Hollywood star who pretty much everyone knows who they are and I bet everyone on here has seen at least 1-2 if not all of there films

if your old like me then you can remember what a huge huge star Leonardo De Caprico was in titanic and he was marketed as a heartthrob for young girls / women

He was bloody everywhere and women and young girls loved him ( including me )

if he had come out as said he said he was gay his career would have sunk quicker than the the titanic did 😂

sadly coming out as gay if your an actor and your main roles are action hero. Leading man / chasing women is career suicide

Hollywood is still quite conservative with its views on sex.

The description of her on her chambers website was likely written by her - that’s an advert. Like any other company profile.

I also know a few people in the “Legal 500” - it’s not as chichi as it makes out - one in particular is not a particularly good advocate but has charm and personality - by no means a great legal mind though!

Anyway. She has a good job but she is most well known for being George Clooney’s wife. I don’t think we’d have heard of her without that. And I think she’s as gay as he is! So there!

It can't contravene the Trade Descriptions Act!

CountryMouse22 · 30/08/2025 16:33

"She can probably afford a Brazilian every week."

Who would that be?

In a funny way, Amal lost a bit of professional credibility by marrying George.

I was most surprised she changed her name.

I don’t think she necessarily lost her credibility by marrying George per se or even taking his name, it’s that she APPEARED to adopt that shallow celebrity lifestyle - the massive wedding, the superstar style appearances, the clothes, the celebrity “friends “( Meghan Markles baby shower anyone?), the instagram which is basically all about what she’s wearing, the interviews in celeb magazines etc. I know it shouldn’t matter - why shouldn’t anyone want to look good and have famous friends - good for her - but somehow it projects a frivolous and shallow image which we don’t expect from a serious human rights lawyer.

I don’t think she married up at all or lost any both are extremely successful for different reasons

Her hard work and intelligence has got her to where she is

his is from his good looks, being in the right place at the right time and good choices he has made

Petrolitis · 30/08/2025 17:07

People often fall in love with someone who shares similar facial features. It's called assortative mating. I suspect it's where love at first sight stems from.

Look at the Clooneys eyebrows and eyes. You can really see a strong likeness.

mycatismyworld · 30/08/2025 17:24

I knew a couple who had a Lavender marriage. Man was in his 60s ,women in her mid 40s. They had a baby girl. Man ran a pub,he was quite a character, and the women worked as a solicitor. They seemed very happy together

This was mid 80's in the black country. Nobody batted an eyelid about their unusual relationship.

A lot of that absurd success is PR spin. She was just a junior entertainment lawyer pre-Clooney.

He's gay. She's a beard. The babies were carried by a surrogate. The rest is PR, arranged by the same fixers that brought her in to show he isn't gay, after the incident at Lake Como.

Wasn’t she already high profile working on the return on the Elgin Marbles when they met?

Again, I have met them and can’t believe the nastiness on here about her. She is lovely, incredibly impressive, a bit shy, not someone who is desperate to get in front of a camera, and deeply passionate about her work. Sorry if that doesn’t track with your theories. Meanwhile he super charming and clearly adores her and is very protective.

She’s a barrister. She has specific skills and gets hired to work on cases. Not sure why working on the Elgin marbles is high profile? Hundreds of lawyers over decades would’ve worked on that, can you name any others?!

As I said before, both things can be true- she’s successful talented and beautiful (and seems very nice!) but wasn’t well known as a barrister outside of her own circle before she met him.

Phatgurslyms · 31/08/2025 09:40

I haven’t (and cba to) rtft. Does someone mind filling me in on what happened at Lake Como? It sounds like a juicy piece of gossip that I am missing out on.

To be fair, I think Amal is lucky also, he's not half bad to look at!! 😁

I agree that Amal is ‘lucky’ not because he is good looking but because he seems to be more than happy to acknowledge that she is smarter than he is and is secure enough in his masculinity to delight in her ability

Knowing Lebanon and Lebanese society as I do it would always have been on the cards that Amal had a big wedding. Yes, it was bigger than it may have been because she married George Clooney but it was never ever going to be a small affair, not even if she married the guy next door.

Her Instagram page? Is it her posting on it or are they pages run by her fans?

The superstar style appearance? Haven't you seen the pictures of her dressed down in a track suit bottoms and fleece? It’s obvious she has what could be called on duty clothes and off duty clothes. The latter are very different to her on duty clothes.

The celebrity friends? Ok, the Clooneys were invited to the wedding and are on the record as saying they didn’t know why they were invited as they didn’t know Harry or Meghan. Then from what you say it seems Amal was at the baby shower, and we know Harry and Meghan visited the Clooneys in Italy. But there’s been nothing since then despite bits in the press about other friends the Clooneys have been seen with in Como. Famous friends you have to google because their lives are under the radar - unlike Harry and Meghan.

She projects a frivolous image? I don’t agree and if people do see her as having a frivolous image perhaps they need to set a different bar for themselves rather than let her clothes and her going to Meghans baby shower be bigger than the wonderful brain she has , along with everything else she’s accomplished in life long before she met George Clooney.

However her importance in the legal world is often exaggerated

Says you, who judging from your posts has made it very obvious you obviously see yourself as some kind of self proclaimed expert on the legal world and those in it. When in fact the only thing you are good at is making it very clear you have a dose of the green eyed monster going on and that Amal Clooneys professional success is choking you.

I think you must be mistaking me for another poster. From my first post I have made it clear I am a huge fan.

there is no point trying to perpetuate falsehoods about her career though, when it’s clearly documented.
