Just that, they seem so deliriously in love in every picture I've seen of them.

More power to them if they are that happy, they've both hit the jackpot in so many ways.

But.. to still look so enthralled with each other after so many years??

Why on earth would Amal, an absurdly successful human rights lawyer who has continued in this career and not attempted any kind of showbiz pivot, agree to be a beard? What possible benefit would she get from that?! She doesn’t need him!

I think he gets all the benefits in this relationship (and I’m sure he would agree!) in terms of social clout etc.

So perhaps they’re just a disgustingly attractive, successful couple who are in love. Enough to make my blood boil, tbh 😂

What would she get? A few billion. Do you have any idea of his net worth? And attention. She absolutely craves the camera.

LesCigaresVolants · 30/08/2025 00:17

Well yes, she’s a household name now. How many other human rights lawyers can your average non lawyer name? And yes, together with her husband, she is massively influential amongst those who fund politicians.

If there were other marriage options who wielded more power, she didn’t marry them, did she.

Typical woman, eh. Letting sentiment get in the way of a more advantageous marriage.
Why, if she’d held out a bit longer she might even have snared the last Kennedy standing, and think where she could be now! On the hostessing list of The Man With The Golden Oval Office! 🤣

TheCurious0range · 30/08/2025 00:45

Neither of them settled. He was the Hollywood a list, confirmed bachelor with his pick of any girlfriend he wanted and she is absolutely stellar in her field, ridiculously intelligent, wealthy and stunning to boot. Who wouldn't be happy!

HRTQueen · 30/08/2025 00:48

Have no idea

but I have always found him to be disingenuous proven when he claimed to be in shock over allegations towards Harvey Weinstein

he has a reputation of being a prank joker I’ve yet to met one who isn’t a twat

It’s all for the cameras. Really George is in love with me…

And me - he's constantly texting me at all hours, so tedious.

I’ve heard he’s gay

Quite! It was a coming together of equals, which was certainly a clean break from George’s usual practice.

TempestTost · 30/08/2025 01:11

I wouldn't be shocked if he was gay.

If so, my assumption would be that she is not keen on a sexual relationship with a man (or anyone, maybe?) but wanted kids and a family life, or that possibly her family had fairly traditional expectations around marriage.

But maybe they are genuine.

SummerDaysAreTheBest · 29/08/2025 22:30

To be fair I also LOVED George Michael, and look how gay he turned out to be 🤣

Just how long did it take you to suss that out? 😂

In fairness to George Michael, being upfront about the subject in the ‘80s was no laughing matter, with a lot of people misunderstanding those death messages beamed at us on the telly by HMG, coyly hinting things at you in the gloom.

Weepixie · 30/08/2025 01:36

@Bambamhoohoo am a massive fan of Amal but my understanding is she’s a junior barrister (or was when they married) and not quite the worlds legal trail blazer she’s sometimes portrayed as. But she’s brilliant and does very interesting work. She’s someone you’d love to hate if she probably wasn’t also funny and kind 😂

The Amal you’ve described bears no resemblance to the one here.

Strictlyfan74 · 30/08/2025 02:06

I bumped into them a few years back walking on a towpath in the middle of nowhere near their home in the UK. They were the most stunning couple, politely said hello and carried on their way. They certainly looked like a normal couple to me, not showbiz, just real. We were totally flabbergasted as we realised who they were! Good luck to them.

Came to this thread expecting something really news-worthy, like the Clooneys were giving up their careers and opening a village grocery.

😂😂😂😂

I'd love that to have been the thread!

That’s literally what I read a few hours ago. What doesn’t bear resemblance? It’s well known the chambers she works for, the cases she works on and the barristers she works with.

Tealeaf3 · 30/08/2025 02:59

CrimsonStoat · 29/08/2025 19:11

Same thing as what happened to Rupert Everett, then.

Umm.. I suspect it was his revelations about being a teenage rent boy ( not very family friendly) and his very indiscreet and bitchy ( though hilarious) memoirs that tanked him in the US, rather than just being gay.

Yet still you managed to downplay her professional achievements despite the evidence to the contrary.

EachandEveryone · 30/08/2025 03:50

I don’t think he’s gay but he is camp.

mellongoose · 30/08/2025 04:24

Maybe it’s her that will run for president. She’s the brains of the outfit.

id love to see that!

A lot of that absurd success is PR spin. She was just a junior entertainment lawyer pre-Clooney.

He's gay. She's a beard. The babies were carried by a surrogate. The rest is PR, arranged by the same fixers that brought her in to show he isn't gay, after the incident at Lake Como.

daisychain01 · 30/08/2025 05:51

Are you always so keen to spread disinformation @silverygreen ? Or maybe you're just dripping with resentment and envy. Or possibly dismissive misogyny

you don't suddenly and magically become an international human rights lawyer and barrister with degrees from Oxford and New York just by getting together with George Clooney. Capability and talent does come into it, strangely enough.

Are you always so keen to believe in PR?

It's not disinformation, it's widely accepted gay gossip from gay men's message boards, but they of course would know nothing about being gay, and the longstanding tradition in show business of lavender marriages and beards.

autienotnaughty · 30/08/2025 06:49

I’d assume he played the field for years (maybe men and women) who knows? He’s got old and realised he wants more and sensibly met someone to be his equal. They probably aren't passionately in love anymore but thats normal.

Libertybellz · 30/08/2025 07:10

I think he’s gay because I’ve never fancied him and I know he’s very good looking and just my type and I have noticed I never fancy gay men, it’s a chemistry thing imo

Well, @MillytanteI was about 8 when Wake me up before you go go came out and I first fell in love 🤷🏻‍♀️

Charlize43 · 30/08/2025 07:50

I don't think Amal has a beard. All the pictures I've seen of her she looks clean shaven. I really don't get it where these stories come from...

Unless they mean?... She can probably afford a Brazilian every week.
