Just that, they seem so deliriously in love in every picture I've seen of them.

More power to them if they are that happy, they've both hit the jackpot in so many ways.

But.. to still look so enthralled with each other after so many years??

Who knows gay/ bi / straight - really their business. Agree that regardless they would put on a show for the red carpet as that is part of his job , glamorous publicity if promoting a film . I would like to think they are genuinely in love , but who knows ?
I don’t entirely agree with those that say she didn’t have anything to gain from it . I don’t know her background I suspect she came from a comfortable / wealthy background . She would also be earning a fantastic salary . She is in human rights law so certainly not the complete mega bucks of commercial law . But by any stretch of the imagination she would have been rich already .
But by marrying GC she became mega rich - similar to a roll over Euromillions lifestyle . Huge mansions , private jets ,
staff etc .
They also both seem to have a joint interest in human rights and have set up a foundation . She will be able to do a lot of charitable / non profit work and “ make a difference “ . She can also choose which cases she wants to take on , even if no / low paying .
She also changed her professional name to her husband’s after marriage . Other spouses of famous people ( though not all ) have wanted to be more anonymous and have kept their maiden name for that reason . By marrying it has certainly not done her too much harm , although I accept some may have thought she was becoming a celebrity rather than completely driven by her career .
They have the level of wealth that they can jet round the world and have amazing holidays . They do seem to be very careful in their public appearances and it doesn’t seem that they are turning up to all celeb events .
They certainly appear happy and as they clearly wanted a family they both have lots of choices and do not have to
worry about paying bills , childcare - whose turn it is to put the bins out / load the dishwasher .
If AC does decide that she has had enough and GC is prepared to accept a massive downgrade with looks , career ( and basically everything Smile) - happy to step in .

Edited

Her taking his name was a canny political move. It rendered her more culturally ambiguous, from the point of view of the courts and groups in which she must fight, making her a more acceptable advisor in some biased eyes. It gave her more range.
His name definitely gave her access where it counts, too. Bianca Jagger took the same stance before her, knowing the political usefulness of a famous name.

(btw….I think you are trying to run with two horses there. Retailing low gossip AND decrying such a regrettable thing.)

sex sells especially in Hollywood

sadly i think its impossible in Hollywood to be openly gay actor with a male partner and be A list box opening star , leading man to ladies
those that have come out and said they were gay there careers have tanked

yes there are some up and coming actors who are openly gay but I don’t think they will ever reach the AList level of say George Clooney Tom Cruise

My thoughts on who are gay but hiding it
( badly)

George Cloony
Will Smith
joh travolta
Leonardo De caprico
all of these have always played the leading generally alpha lover type male in films with a love interest who is a woman

tom cruise - in love with himself 😂

they are all huge Hollywood star who pretty much everyone knows who they are and I bet everyone on here has seen at least 1-2 if not all of there films

if your old like me then you can remember what a huge huge star Leonardo De Caprico was in titanic and he was marketed as a heartthrob for young girls / women

He was bloody everywhere and women and young girls loved him ( including me )

if he had come out as said he said he was gay his career would have sunk quicker than the the titanic did 😂

sadly coming out as gay if your an actor and your main roles are action hero. Leading man / chasing women is career suicide

There were blind items online before his marriage about trafficked teen boys, one ended up dead after a balcony accident.

George and Amal Clooney would be much happier living their lives honestly.

Yeah, they sure look ruddy miserable; you must be right. 🙄

I always thought Leonardo di Caprio looked like Norman Lamont.
Most unattractive.

People tell me all the time how my Dh and I still look so in love after 30 years. It can happen - doesn’t have to be fake

PickleASturgeon · 29/08/2025 20:54

A few posters have mentioned about Clooney's millions. How is he still be so wealthy? I couldn't tell you the last time I saw him in anything.

SpaceRaccoon · 29/08/2025 17:20

Beard.

Yup,like Rock Hudson. Probably everyone in the industry knows this but they wouldn't be making millions out of him if he was openly gay.

I heard Clooney on Desert Island Discs and decided he was gay. I would put money on it. Never met him though, so what do I know?

This is so vacuous and really rather rude to actually gay people.

Millytante · 29/08/2025 20:56

PrestonHood121 · 29/08/2025 20:47

There were blind items online before his marriage about trafficked teen boys, one ended up dead after a balcony accident.

Oh FFS.
‘Balcony accident’ seems to be a wildly popular activity of young Brits abroad, and in their case it’s just alcohol that’s blamed, rather than rampant homoerotic sin.

This thread has astonished me; I had no idea there was such hypocrisy and prurience in the air.
It’s like it’s 1985 again (but without the great music.)

BunnyLake · 29/08/2025 20:56

theDudesmummy · 29/08/2025 19:27

@BunnyLake I was married to a gay man, the problem was that he wasn't honest about it (to me or himself). We were not fabulously happy, it wasn't directly because he was gay but I think his treatment of me had unconscious links to his general disdain of women. We looked like a great "power couple" though, career success, lots of entertaining etc, big charade. I was young when it started, and when I left I was bitter at how much of my life I had wasted on that marriage.

Now I am old and I could see the attraction of a man who didn't want sex most of the time! But living a lie, whether or not you realise it, is not a recipe for happiness.

Edited

It wouldn't be a lie, he would be obviously gay but celibate and we’d be best mates and companions, sounds perfect to me nowadays. Marrying romantically to someone you think is straight but turns out not to be must be absolutely awful though.

mycatismyworld · 29/08/2025 20:59

yogpot · 29/08/2025 17:55

Why on earth would Amal, an absurdly successful human rights lawyer who has continued in this career and not attempted any kind of showbiz pivot, agree to be a beard? What possible benefit would she get from that?! She doesn’t need him!

I think he gets all the benefits in this relationship (and I’m sure he would agree!) in terms of social clout etc.

So perhaps they’re just a disgustingly attractive, successful couple who are in love. Enough to make my blood boil, tbh 😂

Perhaps she's gay too,it's called a Lavender marriage

MidnightMusing5 · 29/08/2025 20:59

They’re homophobes, so thats their intention.

TwoBeeFrank · 29/08/2025 21:11

No idea or even any thoughts on whether either of them is gay, but they have zero chemistry and come across as staged. I don’t buy that they’re a love match in any way, shape or form.

Couldn’t care less, though, if it’s working out for them. Good luck to them!

Hedgehogbrown · 29/08/2025 21:14

lnks · 29/08/2025 17:31

Can anyone give one reason why they think he is gay?

Just basic gaydar. Yours needs tweaking.

Millytante · 29/08/2025 21:14

RanyaJerodung · 29/08/2025 19:48

I don't understand. What does "button on her clothes" mean?
What was the ongoing thing when the Clooneys married in Venice?

Oh it was a literal thing, I assure you! (I meant to write buttons, not button)

A certain American gossip site was very anti-Kate Middleton indeed, and this was even before MM was on the scene, and they got frothing mad when, as so often, Kate would wear a coat or jacket with a profusion of large buttons. She still favours such a look now. But it drove this lot bananas, as though it bespoke a grave moral lack.

Around then, the Clooney marriage was imminent, and Amal was daily ripped to pieces by them all. Rabid loathing.
The wedding itself was a hoot, because you’d have had to be from Mars to have found the objections to her look, or the general chic day as a whole, but they managed it with bells on.
Anyway, these two stupid stories were going on at the same time. No link, unless it was a hairstyle!

(I was writing a piece about this and another site at the time by the way, though I admit it makes me look very grubby now.)

By being a successful producer and director, which can amass much more of a fortune than mere acting.
