Is anyone better off since Labour

Luckymum20 · 26/08/2025 20:26

I am not just talking financially but feeling optimistic about the future for children, old age.

With the £22 billion debt now pasing £50 billion.

The increase in Council tax (that they said the wouldn't do). OAPs raid on pensions and no Winter fuel relief. Changes to finance regarding care homes. Utilities up. TV licence up. Food costs up...

I know minimum wage has increased but all costs have increased by a greater amount!

In 2021 minimum wage was almost 30% lower than it is now...

So I ask. Is anyone actually feeling better off, optimistic and pleased with this Government.

Also the October budget of likely to bring more stains on the 'average working man"

YABU - change will happen. It a good thing.

YANBU - not good

You ve already failed to condemn Farage & bring up events from the 80s & the Russians to justify.....

Which have zilch to do with a policy we can change by not voting Reform....!!

Edited

Has Starmer condemned Farage's plan yet? Have Labour confirmed that they will not follow suit? Or are they sitting on the fence still saying that nothing is off the table?

MillyMolliMandi · 27/08/2025 20:25

I would suggest @TwistyIzzy and others on these threads are clearly pushing the Reform agenda.

Goldenbear · 27/08/2025 20:22

But I thought you along with others are wanting a Reform win, this is what they stand for they literally declared this yesterday.

I want Labour gone. So for the hard of understanding at the back, because I've said this precisely 1 million times now, the only way of getting rid of Labour in my constituency is to vote Reform.
Do you comprehend now?

Pursuing VAT on private school education doesn't exactly scream Labour despising the 'working people'.

So I don't work?
Everyone I know who sends their child to independent school works ie is a PAYE working person. We just aren't train drivers so I know that automatically excludes us.

I suspect voting reform will split the right wing vote but who knows

Had Starmer condemned it?

Pursuing VAT on private school education doesn't exactly scream Labour despising the 'working people'.

When you’ve had a shitty education at the local comp, surrounded by people who don’t give a damn about education, and decide you’ll work multiple jobs, buy your clothes and shoes from boot sales and charity shops, never have a holiday abroad, never eat out or have takeaways, never buy treats for your children unless it’s a birthday or Christmas, never smoke or drink alcohol - all to be to scrape the money for private school fees together in desperate hope that the one single child you felt able to afford might be able to have a better chance in life than you did - yes, it does seem that Labour despises those who try to better themselves, improve their children’s lot, hope that their children might have a better life than they did.

The war that would have been fought whoever was in power? The one the Tories voted for?

What’s that got to do with giving money to the Taliban?

https://www.standard.co.uk/hp/front/howard-under-fire-over-iraq-7247839.html

Are you seriously trying to sell this? Michael Howard was not the PM. He's did not actively lie to the public about the reasons for going to war. He did not take the decision. He did not send our troops to the ME with insufficient body armour. That was all on Blair.

Everyone has an agenda, you realise that yes? Or are you just against those who have a different agenda to yours?
What IS your agenda by posting this?

They may well do a reverse takeover of the Conservative Party. Who knows.

If I was a Reform worshipper I would be more minded to morally defend the position of using the Taxpayers' money to pay the Taliban than focus on the deflection.

twistyizzy · 27/08/2025 20:06

Why would it be "of no surprise"? You presume you know me based on a few threads? Give your head a shake

I see no such thing from the pp.

He said himself that he would have gone to war for regime change. The words came out of his mouth. 🤷‍♀️

Well it's called a democracy (at the moment),y use your vote to express that displeasure, if you voted for Labour knowing that they would put VAT on private school fees, then more fool you!

I quite obviously didn’t.

Using Taxpayers' money, when they mouth off about not having any, due to the exodus of 20 rich people, paying 60 billion in tax🥱, to pay the fking Taliban!!

Another one who deflects? or perhaps agrees with Farage?

I shouldn't really need to tell you that Labour/Starmer have said they will NOT be following suit

Goldenbear · 27/08/2025 20:35

smallpinecone · 27/08/2025 20:32

I quite obviously didn’t.

Well you have to accept that your party didn't win then, they don't get to govern, that's literally how a democracy works!

BIossomtoes · 27/08/2025 20:31

And? He couldn't go to war because the decision was not his to take. Howard would also not have been privy to all the facts as he wasn't the PM.
It is like trying to blame Badenoch for PS VAT.

Goldenbear · 27/08/2025 20:37

twistyizzy · 27/08/2025 20:30

I'm not one, just don't agree with paying the Taliban, It is not a moral dilemma for me.
