To be devasted the roundabout in my town has a crappy 'flag' painted on?

I nearly threw up when I saw it this morning - what a horrible shock.

It's a very small town in the Midlands near a city. Yes it's ex-mining but does reasonable ok now, not deprived eg no contextual offers for my dc for uni, but not massively desirable or trendy. Has a Labour MP now but hasn't always in recent years. Voted for Brexit but only just. In 2019 more people voted against Tories AND Brexit than for them - split the vote so we still got a Tory, but still.

In other words, I did not expect this. It's horrible - looks ugly and badly done even before you get started on the thinking behind it. AIBU to ring the council on Tuesday and ask when they are going to deal with this vandalism?

I did a four hour round-trip on the motorway today too and the amount of flags on bridges was shocking - just make it stop.

Try and view it as a political message. Some people are very pissed off with the immigration policy in this country and are trying to make it known by putting up England flags and painting red crosses on white things. I’d much rather that than they burn stuff down which we’ve certainly had happen before when a different political message was being pushed.

It’s a flag and frankly the English flag. Many countries proudly fly their flag no problem.

Yea it’s isn’t right to spray paint on a roundabout but let’s get some perspective.

I think that could be said for quite a few (left wing) people - especially on here. They let right of centre, and right wing people live in their head rent free. They can't get their heads around how MOST PEOPLE DO NOT THINK LIKE THEM!!! No matter how vitriolic and rancid the left wing insults are towards the more right leaning. They need to get some hobbies, and chill a little bit, and have a look at this lovely flag.

Fly the flag yourself. I don't think sensible people are worried about the colour of your skin. I think they are worried about the ethos and motives of many recent immigrants.

I don't understand how some MNers function in their everyday life. Who the hell "nearly throws up" from the "devastation" and "horrible shock" of seeing a flag? Why does MN attract so many women who "go NC" with family members at the drop of a hat, and "grieve" if it rains while they're on holiday abroad?

Has anyone seen the roundabout painted the wrong way round? Was on twitter I think. Basically the Swiss flag. Red background with a white cross. Anyway, funny as fuck.

Yeah, see my previous post. The situation in NI, especially as it was, is not really desirable or something to emulate or wish for is it? Are you aware of the history behind why there are so many flags there? They didn't just paint the lampposts to brighten the place up and make it look pretty.

i also live in a small-ish midlands village/town near a city, although we now have a reform MP. ive seen it around our village too. personally i think its vile racist vandalism. i cannot say im hugely suprised given the minority of multicultural families here. just disappointed
