Sister went nuts over a cup of coffee

my sister visits my house around 3 times a week. Every time she comes she takes the piss out of my coffee calling it “half a cup of coffee” etc

She last visited Friday where I made her a coffee and she snapped “oh come on, fill it up for fucks sake” saying I’d only half filled the mug (I hadn’t).

This morning she turns up. I make coffee, as I was taking it into the living room she looks into the mugs and screams “half a cup of coffee”. I snap back “I don’t fill it to the top so it doesn’t get spilled! Nobody fills coffee right to the top” so she started dancing around me acting crazy shouting “ooo don’t spill it” etc before suddenly lunging at me and shouting in my face - coffee got spilt.

Now I’ve said I’m not making her coffee anymore. That’s it. Sick of the piss taking and ranting and raving. DH witnessed all this and basically joined in with her. She’s 42, DH is 50.

its not normal to fill coffee right to the top is it??? And the hysterics is certainly not normal is it?

How is this thread still going on? The OP posted once and ran!

Yeah…clearly many poster don’t bother to filter and read all the ops posts and realise there’s only one, let alone RTFT to see how many times whatever they’re thinking of saying has already been said.

What adult actually behaves like that? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh, don't worry they're out there!

THisbackwithavengeance · 01/09/2025 10:22

Eh? Is she insane?

I was going to say your sister sounds mad, but the fact that your DH sided with her makes me wonder if you were doing something silly that you're not telling us about or being petty and genuinely only half filling the mug and making a point of refusing to give her more coffee.

Mjayy101 · 01/09/2025 18:39

NOPE
I would tell your sister “kindly F off now and go ram your half empty cup of coffee up your ass you batsht crazy witch” then proceed to tell you AH (FYI Asshole husband) that he can also ram it, if he thinks for one second that her coming in to your home and treating you like that is ok? Pack his bags and say goodbye to the 2 of them, regardless of what the situation is about you just don’t treat people like that!! So OP grow some balls and stand your F*KING ground !!!

So her being screamed at is ok? And mocking her ? No that’s never gonna be ok ✋ 🛑

This is not about the coffee. Sounds like she is taking out her frustrations on you. It sounds like this has gone way beyond a bit of piss-taking and she is being quite rude. Ask her why she is behaving like this or ask her to apologise for her bad behavior. I used to excuse bad behaviour all the time, I feel it gets out of hand and makes you feel quite small and not good about yourself. You then end up questioning everything you do. Don't let it get to that if you can as it can be soul-destroying.

TigerLillyPride · 02/09/2025 15:55

Why don't you just leave her to make her own cup/mug of coffee? Surely its not your job to make the coffee every single time?!

Grammarninja · 02/09/2025 16:01

I always fill a cup to within a centimetre of the top. My MIL will always go back to the kettle to top it up to overflow level. I don't get it. It's one sip in the difference but makes the transporting of it impossible.
