Sister went nuts over a cup of coffee

CrashBambiCoot · 24/08/2025 14:19

my sister visits my house around 3 times a week. Every time she comes she takes the piss out of my coffee calling it “half a cup of coffee” etc

She last visited Friday where I made her a coffee and she snapped “oh come on, fill it up for fucks sake” saying I’d only half filled the mug (I hadn’t).

This morning she turns up. I make coffee, as I was taking it into the living room she looks into the mugs and screams “half a cup of coffee”. I snap back “I don’t fill it to the top so it doesn’t get spilled! Nobody fills coffee right to the top” so she started dancing around me acting crazy shouting “ooo don’t spill it” etc before suddenly lunging at me and shouting in my face - coffee got spilt.

Now I’ve said I’m not making her coffee anymore. That’s it. Sick of the piss taking and ranting and raving. DH witnessed all this and basically joined in with her. She’s 42, DH is 50.

its not normal to fill coffee right to the top is it??? And the hysterics is certainly not normal is it?

Depends who's doing the tidying up doesn't it?

In the situation I mentioned, it was half a glass of water over a hard floor surface. Friend's sister mopped it up straightaway but that was it...never invited back.

They sound a pair of weird loons. Both would be our the door.

Nine pages and 426 replies at the time I post this, and the OP hasn’t been back once. I doubt her sincerity, to put it diplomatically. Undiplomatically, what utter bollocks.

I read these things on mumsnet sometimes and I just can’t really believe they’re real.
Whose sister actually repeatedly visits and is rude and unkind to them over how they make the coffee? And who allows it to happen more than twice without telling that sister to stop, make their own coffee or leave?
The whole thing is farcical and sounds like you’re both about 7 years old.

My thoughts exactly had a fil like this, he didn't do it me more than once. Your sister sounds unhinged.

Letskeepcalm · 26/08/2025 14:38

I can't believe anyone would post something this stupid

JustPassingThruHere · 26/08/2025 15:22

Yes people fill it up to the top but people also don't go to anothers home making demands and being strange. Since she acted a fool, no more coffee and tell her to make sure if she brings her own, to use a container with a lid or don't bring it in.

I wish these types of things were my biggest concerns in life. How can I make the necessary changes?

ellyeth · 26/08/2025 15:30

It's basically just bullying - from both your sister and your husband.

What sort of relationship did you have as children - did she always have tantrums at your expense and you got told off for it? There is something very wrong with the family dynamic here.

Don't make her coffee and don't make her welcome in your home.

Get her a sippy cup just for your house, silly cow.

Best response! 😂

See my post from yesterday at 10.19pm. The OP hasn’t been back because the whole situation is a manufactured pile of bovine excrement. She’s sitting under her bridge hugging herself with delight at all the trip-trapping going on overhead.

This is when I need the laugh emoji 🤣
... trip trap trip trap...

This Op is a typical example of the kind that have been infecting MN lately. An obviously outrageous opening post, then abandons the thread.

needsalotterywin · 28/08/2025 11:06

Is she Cathy from Two Doors Down?
Hideous 😡

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/08/2025 12:10

It is infuriating, I agree, @KittytheHare.

JoeBlogger · 30/08/2025 18:01

Tell them to make their own flipping coffee and give your husband a piece of your mind whilst your are at it. Both being very rude and he should support you not her. After all which sister did he marry?

TurtleShells96 · 30/08/2025 18:04

It's one thing to have a joke about it, maybe an inside joke but not to get hysterical over it. I'd be telling her where to go 😂 even so if you don't like it and she continues, then she definitely doesn't respect you

Jayk12345 · 30/08/2025 18:06

Get a children cup for her, then fill it right to the top and out the lid on. She wants to act like a brat, she gets a brats cup. Id get the husband one too. What a pair of ungrateful Muppets.

borntoweardiamonds · 30/08/2025 18:11

Get her a TommeeTippee and don't let her leave the kitchen until she drinks it all 😂

On a serious note, I had someone like that who loved nothing more than spilling drink & food on items in my home and she was soon on the banned visitor list once I realised she was always pi**ing on my chips on purpose!😂

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I really do have to delete my account because I am losing faith in humanity.

Just fill it up or give her 2 cups ffs.. nobody wants half a coffee

Noturgirl85 · 30/08/2025 18:32

Listen up people (ladies) if you have a HALF sister, she WILL sleep with your man!!!! #facts #truth #remember!!!!!

ForLilacShaker · 30/08/2025 18:37

Your sister shouting over a cup of coffee at you, she's a very sad person

Turbocharger · 30/08/2025 18:40

Charming lady. Reminds me of someone I used to work with.

IBEAN · 30/08/2025 18:55

I always fill mine to top for me or guests. I mean are you going on a hike before you sit down with coffee? Nobody wants a half cup. But I don't think that is the point here, clearly there are other issues.
