Is it too much to expect your cleaner to clean the toilet seat?

I have noticed my cleaner does not clean inside the toilet seat. Skid marks etc are left as they are. For a while ai let this go as people using the toilet should not leave it so dirty. However, I don’t always keep an eye on the guest toilet which is in our garden room. i would often ask her to clean it before I am expecting guests but I had to go in there for another reason and saw the toilet is dirty. She told me she had cleaned the bathroom.
Do your cleaners clean the toilet seat inside and out?

Skid marks inside the toilet seat? What crazy pooing positions does your family adopt?

Nonsense10 · 23/08/2025 22:25

Have you provided a toilet brush?

AnnaBalfour · 23/08/2025 22:26

My cleaner cleans the whole toilet, inside and out.

saraclara · 23/08/2025 22:28

I make sure that my toilet is free of skid marks before my cleaner comes. Nobody should have to wipe other people's shit, unless that person is physically unable to wipe their own.

KatyaKat · 23/08/2025 22:28

I would expect a cleaner to clean a toilet, yes, but, I would never expect them to clean up my/my family's shit, so would always make sure there were no 'skids' in the toilet anyway. Pretty grim to leave them tbh

FreezingColdHere · 23/08/2025 22:29

So many posts about toilets
So little time

Pinstripepillow · 23/08/2025 22:29

Clean your own skid marks. People in low paid jobs aren't there to clean your shit. Cleaners should do the inside of the toilet as standard but you shouldn't be leaving shit marks.

ObtuseMoose · 23/08/2025 22:29

Your dirty family should learn to clean their skid marks off themselves. Leaving them for anyone, even the cleaner is absolutely fucking grim.

Actupfishy · 23/08/2025 22:29

nope that's really grim and demeaning

doodleschnoodle · 23/08/2025 22:31

Urgh, we have a cleaner who does clean inside the toilet, but I make sure the kids haven’t left any skid marks before she comes. It‘s grim to wash off other people’s poo. I’d be embarrassed tbh.

FitAt50 · 23/08/2025 22:46

Disgusted that you think it's acceptable to leave skid marks for your cleaner to clean. Have a word with yourself and your family.

Yerroblemom1923 · 23/08/2025 22:54

I clean my toilets before the cleaner comes! I know she cleans them anyway but I'd be mortified at her seeing anything disgusting that my family hasn't dealt with themselves! Teach your family better.

Same!!

Barney16 · 23/08/2025 23:30

Oh yak, just yak.

TartanMammy · 23/08/2025 23:39

I'd never leave skid marks for the cleaner! But nobody in my house seems to get skids on the seat etiher. That's vile.

She does clean the whole toilet though - skid free.

Ilovesshopping · 23/08/2025 23:55

Id be mortified if i left my toilet in that state . She’s probably making a point by leaving the 💩 on the toilet seat.
Instead of talking to your cleaner, you need to be having a word with the dirty culprit about basic hygiene and cleanliness.

BourgeoisBabe · 24/08/2025 00:03

I always give my toilet a quick clean before my cleaner arrives, as I feel she shouldn't have to deal with a dirty toilet. Everything else in the house, yes, but not a toilet.

FiveShelties · 24/08/2025 00:06

It must be lovely to sit in the garden room with a dirty toilet.🙄

PollyBell · 24/08/2025 00:08

No the cleaner should not have to put up with a toilet in that state people who use it should have more self respect

murasaki · 24/08/2025 00:09

Another one who gives the loo a quick going over before the cleaner comes. Just a flash wipe but it's only reasonable.

Truetoself · 24/08/2025 00:32

So many people cannot read! But general feeling is what I thought - shouldn’t expect cleaner to clean inside the toilet.

What can’t they read? Everyone has answered your question. You might not like what they have said, but that’s the risk of posting on a public forum.

But you are being unreasonable to call your shed a “garden room”.

Why cant people read?

JMSA · 24/08/2025 05:19

A garden room with a shitty loo.
Talk about fur coat, no knickers!

MotherTuckinGenius · 24/08/2025 05:30

I had no idea that outside bogs were now known as “garden rooms” every day’s a school day!
