I love seeing people’s usernames so was just curious really.

I’ve had loads of changes in my time here and just come back after a long time off. Some of mine have been LOTR (my favourite film) related, some random, others more personal. I usually pick something really quickly when I change it and change every few threads or so.

I remember some posters who never seemed to change, so you always knew who they were but I haven’t seen them post since I’ve been back.

Love your username. I just finished reading Kingdom of Ash this morning.
Manon is my favourite character I might need a name change 🤔

Manon quickly became a favourite of mine too, her relationships with Abraxos and Asterin had me in tears.

Good luck with the book hangover, TOG took me forever to get over lol

NotyouGuillermo · 23/08/2025 16:13

Name change he while rewatching ‘What we do in the shadows’.

Jujujudo · 23/08/2025 16:13

I’m what we call a judo mum! And the first bit refers to my name, so..

Doingtheboxerbeat · 23/08/2025 16:14

A band from the 80's and also the name of their biggest hit.

SanFranBear · 23/08/2025 16:17

Mines inspired by Inside Out😁

Bohemond23 · 23/08/2025 16:18

Bohemond of Antioch was a Norman knight from the 11th century. He was one of the leaders of the First Crusade and stayed. He fell in love with the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor. It’s my favourite historical period.

Phoebesparrow · 23/08/2025 16:21

I was in bed watching goodnight sweetheart and she's my favourite wife

I love the 40's fashions much more than I love the 90's

SprayWhiteDung · 23/08/2025 16:28

The adverts for the product called 'Spray Wipe Done' really used to sound like the voiceover was saying "Spray white dung", which made us always wrinkle our noses up in disgust whenever the ad came on TV!

They've changed it now, though - I think they finally sold enough product to be able to afford enunciation lessons for the voiceover artist!

Radiatorvalves · 23/08/2025 16:37

It’s probably time for a change after probably 10+ years. Someone I know was doing up their house (still are actually) and were obsessed about radiator valves. I had no idea they were a thing! I had a lot of excruciatingly dull conversations about them.

JacquelineHigh · 23/08/2025 16:41

I usually choose something that has tickled me in a thread.

I've seen at least 2 other versions of my current name.

It's from a recent thread where the OP referred to her partner as "a bit Jacqueline High". It eventually transpired that she meant "a bit Jekyll and Hyde"(but it wasn't a typo!).

Made me laugh

SabreIsMyFave · 23/08/2025 16:41

I picked my username after my favourite character on the BBC show 'Gladiators.'

Sabre! Smile

arcticpandas · 23/08/2025 16:43

My DH loves Arctic Monkeys so I lazily just switched to pandas because they're so cute.

This one was funny. I have never even heard about radiator valves before but that's a rabbit hole I won't go down😅

Devilsmommy · 23/08/2025 16:48

Mines because of my son's name 😈

ElinorDashwood68 · 23/08/2025 16:49

Character from Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility

hopelessbusiness · 23/08/2025 16:49

A quote from Mr Bennet in Pride and Prejudice...also used to successfully diffuse arguments between my squabbling children ("oh dear, sounds a hopeless business ".)
Shows you had heard their complaint but weren't going to get involved! I'd recommend...

Createausername1970 · 23/08/2025 16:50

I'll give you three guesses.....

No idea where I plucked 1970 from, it has no sentimental meaning.

SuboptimalSitu · 23/08/2025 16:50

Changed when I was diagnosed with cancer as it describes how I've found the process of diagnosis and treatment.

Laura95167 · 23/08/2025 16:52

My name is laura

CMOTDibbler · 23/08/2025 16:53

When I joined a million years ago I wanted to be Granny Weatherwax - from Terry Pratchetts books- but it had been taken and so had many of my other Discworld choices. But I’ve been CMOTDibbler ever since

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 23/08/2025 16:54

Something my mum used to say, either when she'd left the room and returned, or in exasperation if she didn't like what you were saying. I say it myself now. 🙊

NOresponsibility · 23/08/2025 16:54

Because i hate having responsibility.
I dont have any now only for me.

AuldTheDeepMinded · 23/08/2025 16:56

I've had this one from the start and have recently reverted to it. She was a real person and I like the sentiment very much. I'm not particularly deep minded though.

NotAnotherFeckingMuftiDay · 23/08/2025 16:58

I chose this name when my children were in primary school.

Yiayoula · 23/08/2025 17:00

DGD’s name for me when she was much younger - translates as “ little grandmother “.
I should say I’m English, and at least an inch taller than my son-in-law’s Mum, who is Greek and known as YiaYia .
Though I’m more often “Grandma” these days.
