Even if I’d wanted to, I would have been afraid to do it in case something unsavory about the celebrity later emerged.

I used to think that too.

If I were to have a DD, I have a middle name already picked out (the first name of my favourite actress). This actress has been deceased for 35 years. No scandal has emerged yet!

My friend’s brother was named Kian after Kian Francis from Westlife. I forgot to mention this in my OP!

Anais. It’s a popular French name, but I only heard of it due to Noel Gallaghers daughter.

maras2 · 23/08/2025 13:29

Youngest DC (43) has his 2nd name after the founder of the Socialist Labour Party.
Well, that's come home to bite me on the arse.
Guess who Smile

Not real people, but both of my kids first & middle names are taken from horror films.
Not having another girl, gutted I couldn’t get Reagan in there somewhere

Keir Hardie, I was so so close to using this name a few decades ago.

OhDorWheresthesalad · 23/08/2025 13:34

Not a celebrity, but dd's middle name is the same as the title of my favourite book.

Wotrewelookinat · 23/08/2025 13:35

Nephew has middle name George after George Michael.

MeringueOutang · 23/08/2025 13:36

Yes one is named after a famous Greek hero and the other is named after a famous Old English hero (which coincidentally is also the name of one of my favourite sitcom characters). For middle names, they're named after actors who have played iconic characters.

ConnieHeart · 23/08/2025 13:39

My dd1's middle name is Jewel. I watched a forgettable film during pregnancy with a character of that name in it 🤣

A couple of relatives have been named after a Beatle.

Ringo ?

meisafairy · 23/08/2025 13:56

My son is Evan as I was pregnant at the time when Tyson bit off Evander Holyfields ear! We were toying with names, joked about Tyson then Evander then realised shortening Evander to Evan was the perfect name for him.

Robin?

Long ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I loved the name Lauren - after L Bacall. I thought it was a really unusual and original variation on Laura. I was after an unusual name. When I was expecting my first, I decided that if I had a girl she’d be Lauren. One day in a big department store I heard 3 different women calling to their toddlers - all Laurens. I chose another name and when later teaching in a primary school, I had no shortage of little Laurens!

it’s a lovely name - haven’t changed my mind - but it was VERY much in vogue in the 90s.

spoonbillstretford · 23/08/2025 15:04

Rose Tyler in Dr Who definitely made me think "Rose, that's a nice middle name," in 2005. Me and everyone else having girls then apparently. DD1 likes it though and her Dr Who loving best mate thought it was so cool when she found out.

spoonbillstretford · 23/08/2025 15:06

With both of their first names, I definitely Googled to see if most of the associations were positive.

Hector and Hereward?

DS is sort of named after an author - I can't remember now if the name came first and the link to the author came second as an explanation.

It was that or DH's idea of naming him after Robin van Persie...

That’s so funny. I was born in the 90s and had four Laurens in my secondary school year group.

I too, adore Lauren Bacall.

My DS has a name I’d loved for years but by coincidence was the name of the England men’s football manager at the time he was born. Never occurred to us not to use it and we all still love his name, people who meet him think it’s cool and he was always the only one with the name in school.

Ekkekkkeekkkekk · 23/08/2025 15:34

My DD has the same first name as a famous Kiwi actress.

I didn’t know until my father’s best friend pointed it out. I’d never heard of her!

GrumpySparkler · 23/08/2025 15:38

I think I've posted this before but, unbeknownst to me at the time, both my DC are named after characters from video games that my DH loves. He suggested both their names with no context to them and I really liked both of them. It wasn't until a few years after our youngest was born that he came clean and told me. I didn't care. I still love their names.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 23/08/2025 15:38

A friend named her child Nikita after the Elton John song of that name. Child loves it now.
