Dh has just done it on the bbq and thinks it’s fine and i’m too fussy, I’m not but admittedly the only thing i’m ever cautious/fussy over is meat being cooked enough, I tend to really overcook mine

I can’t eat this 😬

Not necessarily
campylobacter can start after 3 days (mine did)

Great.

Nope it is too shiny defo not cooked and also needs seasoning

Coconutter24 · 21/08/2025 14:57

Salmonella can be 6 hours to 6 days for symptoms. Campylobacter 2-5 days. There is another bacteria which usually shows symptoms 8-12 hours. Hopefully no one is poorly over next few days 🤞 I don’t get why you threw the chicken away, why not just cook it a bit more?

Aposterhasnoname · 21/08/2025 15:10

Jaysus, if that was any less cooked it'd be laying your breakfast egg tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you OP

Owly11 · 21/08/2025 15:16

Hard to tell from the photo but no, that does not look cooked. Who cares just don’t eat it and get something else…

She's going to have to time travel to do that.

Hopefully everyone is ok and you’re not put off chicken for long

Dawnb19 · 21/08/2025 19:43

I wouldn't eat it. What is it like in the middle of it's that light on the outside.

Oxo01 · 21/08/2025 20:11

Oh no not for me it looks nearly raw
But I do like my food well done.

It was in the fridge, taken out of the freezer a couple of days ago

Took it out of the fridge a couple of days ago and then ate it raw. I call troll!! 😆

Whaleadthesnail · 21/08/2025 21:57

Out of the freezer?? Not fridge.
It can stay in the fridge for a few days and be ok

I understand

I feel that way about garlic mushrooms (had some in a restaurant last Year and was very unwell very soon afterwards) and also burgers (had a lovely couple of burgers, made by DM, and soon after I threw up) .. It does tend to put one off.

Hope you continue to feel Okay OP and thanks for updating .

BoilingHotand50something · 22/08/2025 10:22

Hope you are all still feeling ok.

on the freezing guidelines I see, it always says defrost thoroughly and use within 24 hours.

I've always done it that way and never got ill, I think the max I've done is about 3 days.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 22/08/2025 13:27

My understanding is that raw meat can be kept in the fridge for a few days; however if it has been previously frozen it should be defrosted and eaten within 24 hrs.

I may be wrong but these are the guidelines I've always followed .

I'm a man.

I wouldn't eat any chicken cooked by a man on a BBQ

[Edit Actually I wouldn't eat any meat cooked by a man on a BBQ...]

Why not 😬

Because some men (and you don't always know who they are beforehand) think that eating partially raw or undercooked meat is a "manly" (ie good) thing and think you're a wimp if you complain.

You might be able to get away with it with a good quality steak that is properly cooked on the outside but rare inside, but chicken or pork (look up trichinosis) - no thank you...

Watch out for anal leakage...
