Dh has just done it on the bbq and thinks it’s fine and i’m too fussy, I’m not but admittedly the only thing i’m ever cautious/fussy over is meat being cooked enough, I tend to really overcook mine

I can’t eat this 😬

Not really funny is it though

No it's not but you were the one asking aibu? I don't even know how you even ate it when it is very clearly not cooked. I apologise if I offended you, was trying to keep it light-hearted for you

SleeplessInWherever · 20/08/2025 16:03

There is absolutely no way that would have passed my lips. None.

The texture is killing me looking at it.

No it's not funny. But I'll be honest you should be able to tell the difference between raw and cooked chicken yourself without posting for opinions on an internet forum.

grumpygrape · 20/08/2025 16:04

White and stringy = cooked
Translucent pink and slimy = uncooked.
As a previous poster said, have you never eaten chicken before?
You'll all be dead within 24 hours, or queuing up for the bathroom, or you'll live. Start praying 🙏🏻

Cherrycola4 · 20/08/2025 16:06

Life-long vegetarian here, I’ve never cooked chicken but even to me it looks raw in places.

gottakeeponmoving · 20/08/2025 16:06

I’m too late to stop you. But that chicken was raw. I can’t believe you asked.

I can't believe she ate it, texture would have been all wrong 🤢

WhenYouSayNothingAtAll · 20/08/2025 16:09

Hopefully you’ll be fine, but honestly woman, learn to say no!! And trust your own eyes.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 20/08/2025 16:11

Let alone being raw - that’s not even worthy of being called a BBQ.

HelpMeGetThrough · 20/08/2025 16:15

If it wasn’t cooked, you could all be shitting through the eye of a needle later.

Put some toilet paper in the fridge, it soothes a raw ring.

Firstbreezeinmonths · 20/08/2025 16:17

MissMoneyFairy · 20/08/2025 16:00

No but surely you've eaten chicken before and know the texture when its cooked

Which is why I picked a couple of pieces that looked more cooked and left the rest. Dh said it was fine, he ate the most, luckily Dd hadn’t eaten hers yet, so I threw it. I had maybe 4 pieces

Sorry just really worried about if dh and I now get badly ill and who will look after DD

Please get a simple meat thermometer. They're a few quid off Amazon

Both of you will be. We’ve had to do it here in years gone by. It’s tough going, but has to be done.

Firstbreezeinmonths · 20/08/2025 16:23

It was normal inside as in white and soft/stringy, I just have mine really well done, almost burnt

Would 4 pieces be enough to make me ill?

OP posts:
MsTamborineMan · 20/08/2025 16:25

To be honest the picture is out of focus and it looks like there's lots of mayonnaise so I can't tell the colour or texture of the chicken

If it was white and stringy/cooked chicken texture inside it was probably cooked.

Beammeupscotty2025 · 20/08/2025 16:25

It looks slimy and undercooked. Was if fresh? Defrosted?

I got campylobacter from undercooked chicken in my student days. You’ll know soon enough.

Invest in a meat thermometer! Also, some metal skewers they get hot and cook from inside too.

ActuallyRomantic · 20/08/2025 16:28

Oooh nope, I’m a fairly lax meat eater but I’ve don’t fuck around with chicken. That’s nowhere near cooked IMO.

NomoneyNoprospects · 20/08/2025 16:29

Did you cut it open and stick your finger on it? Was it piping hot?

Edited

It was in the fridge, taken out of the freezer a couple of days ago

Raw chicken can put you in hospital.

Hopefully it wasn't raw and your DH is correct.

Definitely get a thermometer for next time. I always cook chicken in the oven and then finish on BBQ to be sure.

To be fair there are a couple of pieces on the side of the plate that could just about be fine. If that’s what you ate , then odds are you’ll be ok.

It wasn’t piping hot 😬 but Dh pisses about so didn’t give it us straight from the bbq, it was warm

Dweetfidilove · 20/08/2025 16:35

That doesn't look like it got anywhere near any form of heat 🫣.
