Their stuff looks lovely (online on skinny models anyway) - have heard a few good things recently as i had written them off a few years ago. Anyone use them and happy with the product, quality, returns etc

i hate online clothes shop but the high street/town centers are dead in many places now so options are really limited often to just M&S, Next, H&M or Primark

I'm not saying I buy from there because it's easier. I buy from there because I want to and I like the things I buy from there. I honestly couldn't give a flying fuck what anyone on here or anywhere else for that matter thinks about me as a person for choosing to shop there. Enjoy all trying to out do each other on how perfect you are.

I think you’ve missed the point. It’s never been about being perfect.

These clothes are toxic and should be nowhere near young peoples skin. People are upset over the poor working conditions in the factories, if you can’t understand basic empathy and concern for others then that says a lot about you.

So basically, "I pick my battles" means "I don't care". At least own it rather than dressing it up with odd arguments and analogies.

Not buying from Shein isn't "virtue signalling". Nobody in real life goes about approaching randomers in the street and telling them they don't buy from Shein or telling their friends without being asked about it. Any more than you would spontaneously tell someone where you bought your jacket without being asked first. This is an anonymous forum and nobody has anything to prove to anyone.

I think that poster has recently learnt the phrase ‘virtue signalling’. She is all over several threads peppering her comments with it ;-)

IThinkPink · 21/08/2025 18:11

Daft mare! Trying to be holier than thou but I bet there’s something questionable in her lifestyle somewhere…

I shop from shein as do many as evidenced on this thread. It is what it is

Waitingfordoggo · 21/08/2025 18:22

Who are you referring to @IThinkPink?

Waitingfordoggo · 21/08/2025 18:24

‘It is what it is’

😂

Or:

‘It just happened. I have no control over my behaviour as I am incapable of independent thought, and especially incapable of realising that I am not in fact the main character’.

hiintrepidheroes · 21/08/2025 18:24

Why do you think people are trying to be perfect or ‘holier than thou’ just because we choose not to use child labour sourced clothes, or to put our kids in toxic clothes.

I understand you don’t care about these people forced to work in these conditions, but do you not care about the health of your own kids?

What a nasty comment.

Waitingfordoggo · 21/08/2025 18:36

I know the school holidays are long @ChaiLarious but you’re surely not that bored?

GenieGenealogy · 21/08/2025 18:36

Ignoring the unwarranted personal attack, is is really so outrageous that people hold strong opinions on fast fashion? It's not about being perfect (whatever that means) it's about recognising that we all have choice over where to buy and that choices to buy into the cult of fast fashion and disposable clothing is killing the planet. And that out of all the fast fashion brands, Shein is the worst.

Not shopping with Shein is something which a lot of people are doing... it's hardly exceptional.

Soukmyfalafel · 21/08/2025 19:20

Never bought anything from SHEIN or Temu as it looks like the sort of place where shit goes missing in the post and has no customer service to rectify it. I buy most of my stuff from George, Next or TU for convenience more than anything. Easy to shop online or browse whilst doing usual shopping and just return up the road. Quality is probably similar and made by the same manufacturers though. I do buy other better quality items from active/outdoor brands, but mostly end of season in the sale. I just can't be arsed with normal or other online shopping for particular brands now. Their websites just aren't user friendly and you have to pay to return for some.

I’ve loved everything I’ve had from there, and all very unique

Nothing is 'very' unique

And well done for avoiding all the points that have been made.

hiintrepidheroes · 21/08/2025 19:57

I don’t think some people understand the word unique.

They definitely don’t realise the designs are stolen.

GenieGenealogy · 21/08/2025 20:02

No, people think unique means the same as unusual. You see it all the time on baby name threads and they don't take kindly to being told that unless you have a random password generator name, it's not unique.

Clothes may be UNUSUAL, but they are not unique unless they are handmade.

And you really think people who are happy to buy from Shein are bothered about copyright infringement?

FloweringBuds · 21/08/2025 20:24

I recently did a shein order. I was In need of.clothes after weightloss. I usually only shop in matalan , supermarkets etc
The shein stuff has by far washed up better than anything I've had before.

IThinkPink · 21/08/2025 21:51

well done on your weightloss @FloweringBuds

Plmnki · 21/08/2025 22:09

Disgusting ethics at shein , temu etc. don’t you care about anyone else in the world?

Buy less, buy local.

HopingForTheBest25 · 21/08/2025 23:20

'Buy local'? How does that work with clothes? Esp for teens. Hardly anything is made in the UK anymore - it mostly seems to be cheap shit from abroad in our high st shops, which is still oddly expensive to buy, but no better than Shein in terms of quality.

FreddysFingers · 22/08/2025 02:16

I'd rather get better quality second hand stuff from Vinted.

FatherFrosty · 22/08/2025 08:47

I think we’ve got so complacent with clothes being safe to wear. Children’s clothing and accessories being safely made and designed. Not flammable and full of toxic stuff that poisons them.
that people expect it and can’t even consider that an item of clothing or jewellery could be slowly leaching chemicals into their child’s body.

theiblis · 22/08/2025 09:03

They are not making profit from what you buy they are making profit from mining your data…. As the first poster stated…. They are really really dreadful supply chain, environmentally and the welfare and safety of their workers…. Lots of child labour.

MuffinsAreJustCakesAtBreakfast · 22/08/2025 09:05

NachoChip · 18/08/2025 11:24

I wouldn't touch Shein with a barge pole as their ethics are one of the worst. I know it's a spectrum and many other stores have questionable practices but their supply chain is particularly hidden and their treatment of workers particularly poor. Shein and Temu... you've got to ask yourself how can they make some much profit with such ridiculously low prices and who is paying the price?

First reply nails itttttt 🔨

British high street is long gone now

clothing choices are declining too

My teen DD buys her own clothes almost exclusively in charity shops or from Vinted.

HopingForTheBest25 · 23/08/2025 12:44

Both of those places have their uses and I do love Vinted, but they don't address the need for specific items when you actually want them - you are at the mercy of whatever someone else has decided to donate/sell. And you can't send something back if you buy it from Vinted and it's not quite right (but isn't faulty).
