Think of a profession and then think of someone in that profession eventually getting to be the head of that profession. This is a profession that has members in pretty much every town and city in the country.
You would think he got there by being brilliant at his job and then recognised as such by his peers and being put forward for the role of head of that profession which brings with it massive prestige, money and income potential except.....I worked with this person for a few years a decade ago and he is actually rubbish at the job and worse still, caused more problems than he solved. He was also a thief of clients property, a grifter and a liar. I was witness to some of his most heinous mistakes, thievery and lies so I nearly fell over when I discovered that he had reached the heights in the profession that he has.
I left the job when his behaviour became to hard to stomach. The person that took my role, called me in a state, 8 weeks later, saying she had handed in her notice for the same reason.
A deep dive online into how he got there and it looks like he did it by ducking and diving and smoke and mirrors which, knowing him as well as I do, comes as no surprise.
If I told what I knew and it was proven (and it is eminently provable by DNA) it would be a national scandal.
I never would but I now wish I had spoken up at the time. I didn't because of how it would have reflected on his employer at the time who was a thoroughly decent human being and I didn't have the heart to create a problem for him and his business.
Just because someone is the head and representative of a profession or anything else for that matter, it doesn't mean they are an exemplar of that profession. They might just be dodgy but intelligent with it and be brazen as hell.
