Admittedly I’m in the (lovely)) south east and we are blessed with pretty decent summers generally but so far this summer has been amazing!

9am, and I’m out in the garden, having my coffee and planning trip to beach with my teens for the day. And the sunny warm weather stretches in to the future forecast for days.

I agree it is fantastic. Sadly I suffer from a series of chronic illnesses so I have to limit my exposure to the heat and sun but its epic and I love it and make the most of it as I can. I think we are going to have more of it in Sept and Oct and I look forward to it.

Pricelessadvice · 13/08/2025 11:57

It’s fabulous when you’re not working. My job and the heat do not mix well though!

The extreme heat here and in Europe this summer is frankly terrifying imo. It’s a harbinger of the climate change horror that we are now starting to really experience. How anyone can delight in it is beyond me. Wild fires in Europe, people evacuated from their homes, parched countryside in the UK, water shortages, farmers not having enough grazing for cattle, vulnerable people dying of heat-related complications - the list goes on. I really don’t see how anyone can enjoy the hot weather when you understand what it means and what the future looks like. As a pp said, think of the impact on food prices if nothing else.

You can appreciate the climate is changing while also enjoying sunny weather.

They are not mutually exclusive. You must be a hit at parties.

It's beautiful I just pray the weather holds a little longer.

So much so you said it four times! 😁

@MotherofPearl

Totally agree with you.

I am disabled and really struggle with cold weather and I have really enjoyed this summer as my pain is down really low.

i appreciate climate change etc but on a personally level I am really enjoying the relative lack of pain!

tobee · 13/08/2025 12:15

I'm glad these last few days it's not been excessively humid and back to a dryer warmth. Overcast here but warm. Hopefully the sun will break through soon.

It's been great to have sunshine and warmth. Last few summers with rain on and off all the time made it impossible to plan anything. Then it just segued into autumn and winter being the same but a degree or two cooler.

Only thing is, I'm on holiday in south west England middle of September, it's bound to be the start of rainy days returning 😑😃

IMissSparkling · 13/08/2025 12:15

It's been far too hot for me and I'm in Scotland! Hoping for a much cooler and wetter summer next year. 🤞

mauvaiseherbe · 13/08/2025 12:27

we are in Oxfordshire enjoying the weather, in the garden deadheading, harvesting lavender, picking apples already, also washing anything and everything ready for Autumn, cushion covers, 2x heavy woollen throws, winter jackets, thick wool hiking socks, heavy cotton bedspread,
all dry within an hour yesterday in low humidity, 38% wheras today its 72% and for me as a redhead, totally ennervating

extremes of temperature in a temperate climate are an anomaly we could not tolerate long term, health, infrastructure, roads, tempers, water shortages, farming methods, uncomfortable for babies and elderly who cannot regulate, storage of food, growing
of food/s would be impacted, electricity needed to run aircon and fans, but mostly the water shortages, as of course bottled water would be at a premium, possibly banned

But they are linked. I don’t care if you or others think I’m a misery. I think I’m a realist, and refuse to bury my head in the sand thinking hot weather is all about beaches and fun times.

We had a week in Skye and the Hebrides a couple of weeks ago. On two days the mist was right down and it drizzled all day. When we went over to Lewis I knew we'd just driven through some amazing scenery but couldn't really see it properly.

We're in the NE and its roasting today but in general it's been a pretty average summer with maybe a bit less rain than usual.

Mind you our area has a microclimate which is often completely different from friends 20 miles away.😁

I’m in Wales , and it’s been a fabulous summer , hot and dry
The farmers near us must have made record amounts of silage
Its a bit grey skies today , still out in the patio though , yesterday was a bit too hot for me

AliciaLeeming · 13/08/2025 12:45

Feeling very hard done by here.

Have yet to see the sun here today ( North Somerset). Grey and overcast. The sun was forecast to make an appearance mid morning but no sign of that happening now. It's also barely 20 so not even particularly warm

It was grey and raining on Monday.

Gorgeous, hot and sunny and we are in gorgeous Yorkshire for the week, staying in a lovely cottage with a lovely garden....BUT we have a dog who can't be out in the midday heat, and isnt alloeed tobe left alone in the cottage, we also have a teen who basically hasn't seen any morning since arriving.

It is severely restricting our plans !

Also had to buy 2 fans for the bedrooms as heat is ridiculous!

Somethingsnapped · 13/08/2025 12:46

Yes, it's been super, hasnt it? Summer isn't even my favourite season; I love autumn and winter. Love the cold weather. But there is a lot about summer I like too. Not keen on the heat over about 28 degrees, but the intense heatwaves we've had have been short and manageable, and inbetween it's just been mostly warm, dry and sunny. But it's still relatively green everywhere (I'm in the Midlands), whereas I remember a few summers in the last two years where everything was yellow. Plus humidity hasn't mostly been too bad, which is the part of the heat I really don't like.

It's felt like a proper season!

mamagogo1 · 13/08/2025 12:48

Yes been great, cardigans have not been out for several weeks! It’s cloudy here though, was much warmer yesterday

Hmm well I'm in Brighton and it's rained pretty much all day

cattykinns · 13/08/2025 12:52

I usually welcome Autumn with open arms but not ready for it this year. My garden is blooming! We’ve been able to keep cool inside with some big fans and it’s lovely not having to worry about a brolly, a cardi or a coat ‘just incase’.

thebraveryofbeingoutofrange · 13/08/2025 12:54

Can the posters here say if they’ve had any rain during this summer?

Avantiagain · 13/08/2025 12:55

I prefer it not so warm. High teens is warm enough for me.

We have had one storm, SE Surrey. Everything is crispy. Tbh, I am bored now. Want a bit of variety. Fed up of constant watering. Today is foul. 25, cloudy and 70,% humidity. It was foggy last night.
