to think my colleague should just admit she is on weight loss injections?

At work we have all noticed Sally has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. She is always talking about diets and what she eats and does not eat anymore and makes a big deal about avoiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen. She keeps saying it is just willpower and cutting out snacks.

Last week I walked past her desk, her bag was open, and there was one of those weight loss injection pens in plain sight.

Now I cannot unsee it and every time she goes on about her self control it feels performative.

I am not saying she has to announce it to the whole office, but when she is preaching about anyone can do it if they just try it feels a bit dishonest.

AIBU to think she should either be upfront or just stop making a song and dance about how she has done it all naturally?

Weight loss pen in her bag that you just happened to see?

0/10

Mounjaro has 4 doses in 1 pen.

Not here it doesn't; it's four individual pens for each dose.

Starlight7080 · 11/08/2025 17:59

You have to keep them in a fridge otherwise unsafe . So probably was not what you thought.
But either way they are not a miracle cure. You do still have to eat a lot less. It does take willpower to stick to it.
Leave her alone

PrincessC0nsuelaBananaHammock · 11/08/2025 17:59

Why would she be carrying her WLI around with her? They need to be refrigerated, and you only take it once per week. Why would she be doing it at work? Hmm

ilovemyhamster · 11/08/2025 17:59

Just leave her alone and get on with something more productive

steff13 · 11/08/2025 17:52

What do you mean after first use? The ones that I've seen you get a box of four pens, one for each week, and you use it and you throw it away. Using the first one doesn't negate the others needing to be refrigerated.

I’ve only ever had the pen that has 4 doses of the drug in it plus the extra one for when your priming the jab.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 11/08/2025 17:59

A lady I work with has been overweight for about 15 years. Then since March she's lost around 6 stone. But to be fair, she had sleep apnoea and diabetes and I think she looks amazing but I do grit my teeth a little when she's talking about how she never snacks anymore. I'm diabetic and my nurse won't prescribe it for me, instead I'm on some trial astra zeneca drug instead that is giving me constant UTI's. The joy.

Well ‘here’ (England) it does.

Alright. 🤷‍♀️

ToKittyornottoKitty · 11/08/2025 18:00

Why would she have it in her bag at work? How well do you no the packaging that you were able to determine exactly what it was that fast? Is it possible you are just making assumptions and being a bit of a cow?

SomeOfTheTrouble · 11/08/2025 18:01

steff13 · 11/08/2025 18:00

Alright. 🤷‍♀️

I was just explaining why the PP said ‘after first use’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

friendsromans · 11/08/2025 18:02

Probs not saying anything for fear of judgement. Don’t be that person OP

Crunchymum · 11/08/2025 18:02

Well the OP has got what she wanted (kind of) with us all sniping about how many doses there are per pen and whether or not it needs to be refrigerated.

Probably not exactly what she was going for but traction none the less.

FluffyWabbit · 11/08/2025 18:03

No one is entitled to knowing what other people are doing and the prevailing advice is that work friends aren't true friends.

Overtheatlantic · 11/08/2025 18:03

You’re full of shite.

Weepixie · 11/08/2025 18:03

Alright. 🤷‍♀️

I only know of the individual injections being used in India and the States because I know people from those countries who are using it and we swap notes. Most other places are, as far as I’m aware, use multi dose pens.

Why do you grit your teeth?

MaryTheTurtle · 11/08/2025 18:03

I have a colleague who announces every Summer her new diet. So boring that she isn’t eating X . Eats Y and goes swimming every morning. Good for you but stfu about it

PinkArt · 11/08/2025 18:04

Admit? Why would anyone have to admit to being on any medication? She isn't committing a crime, she has nothing to confess to. Would you be so triumphant if a colleague had been smiling more and you spotted anti depressants in their bag?
Anyway how convenient than you saw the pen that she will have had no obvious reason to bring to the office. If she does chose to share her private medical information with you, then perhaps she could also explain to you that she will have needed to eat less snacks and use will power alongside WLI to have the success she's had. They don't do the work for you, they're a helpful tool that stops your body fighting weight loss efforts.

genesis92 · 11/08/2025 18:04

People don’t carry these pens around with them in their handbag.

TheOnlyThing · 11/08/2025 18:05

“Oh come on Susan, we’ve all heard of Ozempic”

Although I’m on a injectable pen medication, it’s not for weight loss or diabetes and it doesn’t need refrigeration.

cadburyegg · 11/08/2025 18:05

I’ve been on WLI but I haven’t mentioned anything about dieting to anyone unless they asked and then I’ve been vague. It doesn’t make sense that she would carry the pen in her bag. I’ve always left mine at home. But diabetes pens look very similar so unless you saw the specific label on you wouldn’t know the difference.

If she is on WLI she’s being disingenuous but you’re also being unreasonable by expecting her to divulge personal information.

3678194b · 11/08/2025 18:06

Same as when people have their teeth done/cosmetic surgery/fillers etc and want people to think it's all natural, I guess.

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/08/2025 18:06

None of your business.

gamerchick · 11/08/2025 17:41

I always thought they had to be kept in the fridge.

They do until first use and then they can be stored at room temperature below 30c. Regardless I don’t think it’s any of OP’s business - she can’t be sure what she saw is a weight loss jab. It could be an EpiPen or something for diabetes. I use the same type of injection pen for arthritis medication. I can’t figure out why anyone would carry around something like Mounjaro or wegovy as they are once a week jabs. I think there’s a certain amount of envy to this and OP is just looking for a reason to bring her down. Nasty.
