to think my colleague should just admit she is on weight loss injections?

At work we have all noticed Sally has lost a lot of weight in the past few months. She is always talking about diets and what she eats and does not eat anymore and makes a big deal about avoiding the biscuit tin in the kitchen. She keeps saying it is just willpower and cutting out snacks.

Last week I walked past her desk, her bag was open, and there was one of those weight loss injection pens in plain sight.

Now I cannot unsee it and every time she goes on about her self control it feels performative.

I am not saying she has to announce it to the whole office, but when she is preaching about anyone can do it if they just try it feels a bit dishonest.

AIBU to think she should either be upfront or just stop making a song and dance about how she has done it all naturally?

OP posts:

You paid for it privately?

You can’t ask her to stop commenting on your diet?

We can all play this game!

SmurfnoffIce · 11/08/2025 22:45

I’ve taken mine to work before as well, I need to inject at 10am lol 😂

No you don’t.

Namechange2700000 · 11/08/2025 22:47

You are the office bully.

Crunchymum · 11/08/2025 17:36

Sure thing.

People bring their (expensive and more often than not refrigerated) weightloss pens to work and also happen to leave it in plain sight of the OP.

Absolutely did not happen.

100% this. ^ Nothing to see here. >>> 😃

Megirlan123 · 11/08/2025 22:49

None of your business!!! Imagine being so entitled!

It is fine if she wants to keep it to herself but then she keeps boring everybody with amazing stories of her willpower. Telling us to stop having snacks while she has them herself.

Taking MJ does involve a lot of willpower 🤦‍♀️Find it strange that you could see into her bag and read the tiny writing on her syringe, unless you recognised the colour of the syringe…was it familiar?

usersame · 11/08/2025 22:50

Keep a very close eye on that Sally OP. I would not be happy until the true nature of her handbag stash is made public.

MOUNJARO AND BISCUITS I'll wager.

If this goes on much longer, call security.

THE TRUTH WILL OUT!

Exactly hence the post I have just written 🤦‍♀️

Mewling · 11/08/2025 22:56

So the OP has just resorted to accusing everyone of being on WLIs if they proffer a different opinion? Shame there isn’t an injection for intellect. 😅

So just tell her to stop policing your food then.

The OP can’t talk! She can only type. Maybe.

SmurfnoffIce · 11/08/2025 22:57

SomeOfTheTrouble · 11/08/2025 22:11

Nah, just can’t see any reason why someone would carry a WLI pen around with them. It’s nonsensical.

Exactly. The injection itself takes seconds. If you’ve got time to get the pen out of the fridge and pack it and the swab and needle into the bag, you’ve got time to inject. What would you gain by doing it at work?

PlioTalk · 11/08/2025 23:00

If this is real, then keep your bloody beak out, you berk.

Where the hell are these workplaces where everyone has so little to do that they're boring on about each other's eating habits, snooping in each other's bags and obsessing over whether to spill the beans on each other's utterly mundane decisions?

Sounds like an episode of Coronation St from the 90s.

Someone who says they lost weight by dieting and exercising but then didn't?

How do you think you lose weight on WLI? Spoiler, it’s by diet and exercise.

Honestly if this is true then it’s one of the reasons I’m so happy to have my own office at work. So much pathetic sniping/judgement/gossip/bulling amongst colleagues.

Of course, it is by diet and exercise but these injections help with the cravings, making it easier to diet.

I think op is annoyed due to her colleague repeatedly telling others to not snack.

Russiandollsaresofullofthemselves · 11/08/2025 23:06

or she is diabetic. I developed sudden onset diabetes at the age of 28. I was already thin and couldn’t explain the rapped weight loss I was experiencing that didn’t stop for months after I was diagnosed. I could tell loads of people were talking about me behind my back. people should mind their business.

We’ve gathered that… we just don’t understand why she can’t just ask her colleague not to comment on her snacks.

Carpedimum · 11/08/2025 23:08

It’s much more likely to have been an epi-pen or similar because the weight loss meds need to be kept refrigerated and there’d be no need to take it out of the house.

SmurfnoffIce · 11/08/2025 23:09

betnet · 11/08/2025 22:17

She might be hiding it from her family. She has said they give her a hard time about her weight.

Just because you can't see a reason doesn't mean there isn't one.

But hang on - I thought you were saying she should “just admit it”. If you think she’s having to cover it up at home, surely you understand why she wouldn’t “just admit it” at work? Your contradicting yourself.

SilenceInside · 11/08/2025 23:12

@Carpedimum no, WLI pens don’t need to be refrigerated once they are in use, they can be kept at room temp. Both Wegovy and Mounjaro. So that aspect of it is irrelevant.

Maybe this women did have a WLI pen in her bag because she’s a bit odd. It’s irrelevant! The OP just needs to tell her colleague to stop talking about food! It’s that simple. But the OP seems to be enjoying winding peiple up, so I guess the thread is about that now.

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 11/08/2025 17:38

I think Sally lives in your mind and this is a thread to bash those on WLI…

Yup, bollocks.

SecretNameAsImShy · 11/08/2025 23:15

She would carry it round with her if she was diabetic. WLI still require some willpower and exercise and a change in diet, they are not a miracle cure for obesity. OP, keep your nose out, it’s none of your business

FurForksSake · 11/08/2025 23:19

This is like the Yorkshire Tea advert, Sarah Lancashire needs to review the cctv footage and point out you are all criminals and eating your own biscuits.
